On a bunch of -not so happy- occasions there always seemed to be an Bally Atlantis around,... in fact I didn't knew there were other pinball machines since all games I ever encountered were Bally Atlantis.
(Wich is a funny story in itself since Atlantis was the last Bally pinball game the importing gambling company "Bally Wulff" brought to Germany, and - as far as I get it 30 years later - presented them to the public followed by an immediate (?) shutdown and selling all that games... https://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=106&picno=42758 - And that kinda seems to have happened in my area since as I said every pinball machine I've encountered was an Atlantis, and that machine is not particulary common.)
In addition I hated that game, since it relates to bad memories... and for the most part I had trouble to spot the ball with all the lights burned out standing in a dark place.
That's why I bought one... to reconcile.
And I actually quite like it and at the moment it is my only (non project) pinball machine.
Around 2014 I encountered a pretty "Beat the Clock" (and with that remembered that pinball machines exist and learned that they can actually be playable and fun) and soon after jumped into the hobby.
But forget Addams Family: In my subjective but correct memory Bally Atlantis will always have been the most popular pinball ever!
