I think that's pretty rare. And honestly if they are legit updates then that's the way it was designed. RBION for example earlier codes had a ball saver on default, and then later versions tuned it into an option.
Mostly the updates are adding elements. code for met didnt even have CIU modes forever so that's a complete tragedy.
