I was wondering what a $4000 addams family would get you? I looked at one last night that had heavy shooter lane traffic, the mansion and magnet wear looked good everything functioned just extremely dirty. Just wanted others opinions.
Thanks

At this point, you're lucky to find a working one for 4K. Wear-- a lot of wear-- is to be expected for that bargain basement price.
For 4k I would say working with little mantion ware and a few broken plastics. That need to be shopped.
Heh. My credentials: I bought an Addams Family for exactly $4,000 eight days ago.
Significant mansion insert wear and really at the corners of all inserts all over the playfield.
Everything working. (Only one switch error and it was because an actuator arm on a microswitch was half off and just needed to be snapped back on.)
Right row out on DMD.
No battery corrosion problems.
No broken plastics. Ramp looks good. Good topper.
Surprisingly pretty clean with decent rubbers.
The guy I got it from said he had it for about 8 years. I can tell that he must have bought it freshly shopped and not really played it all that much. He said he lifted the playfield once ever. I replaced at least 50 missing, burnt out, or ugly bulbs.
I thought $4,000 for a fully working game was a steal. I went and got it as fast as I could, and I love it.
Remember there were 20,000 Addams Family games made (not including the gold ones). For 4k I would expect a decent fully working Addams, or I would keep looking.

That sounds like a $4,000 Addams Family.

You haven't looked for a TAF lately have you?

Yes but such a heavily played game a good portion of those games are just trashed.
I'm concerned about what a playfield replacement would cost, I don't think the shooter lane can be saved.
I just wanted to put it out there that I am going to be selling one for $4800.00 that is fully working and a decent shop job just finished .... I currently am on vacation, but plan on listing it and pics when I return.... I am in Western Michigan area.
Steve
I will snag an Addams Family for $4k all day. Like stated above, over 20,000 made, I am hoping to find one down here in the south for something close to that but everyone still commands a $6k + tag it seems. For that price, I'll grab me a Metallica Premium out of the box.
Playfield replacements are hard to find. I got a used one and am having it restored, nos or repo was unavailable when I was looking.

Good luck finding a new PF they are hard to come by. Its un known if they will remake them again.
Quoted from Pinfidel:Spend another grand (if you're patient) to $1,500 on a real nice one. You'll be glad you did.
Like mine!

how bad is the shooter lane, can u post a pic. and agree with the above post. spend a bit more on a nice healthy one.
Quoted from Sijcolo:I didn't take pictures but where the ball is shot out there were about 3 layers missing. It is similar to this picture but more squared out.

Don't.

Daaaaaaaaamn!!!!!

Considering how difficult they are to come by, what do think the value of a (New) NOS TAF PF clearcoated by HSA is?

To me this is mostly about your plans for the game. Do you have an end goal for the game? If it's a game you want to own, plan to keep, and can afford the price then buy it while you can. If you're planning to sell it for a profit then by all means, be concerned about this wear and the other details since the next person in line may be even more concerned about it that you are.

if its anything similar to this, i would be looking at another TAF. spend a bit more on something nicer. they are around.
4K for a decent TAF is about the going rate. Less for less, more for more. TAF's are always going to be slightly cheaper than TZ's (just like they have been for 15 years now). And before everyone chimes in with prices, I was offered TWO unshopped fully working examples this year for less than 4K and turned them both away. They sold quickly but like others said, PF's are non-existant these days and it keeps the price on a trashed one down because you are basically stuck with how it looks when you buy it.
