Over the last few years, I have been restoring my pinball collection with reproduction playfields. As a result, I now have several playfields taking up space around the house. Most of he playfields are in decent condition (no excessive wear but definitely have been used). Most of the playfields are from well known B/W DMD machines. Recommendations?

Note, I added a poll for fun (never tried this option before). Enjoy!

I hang them up in my shop.

I'd make them available to those that need them.

I'd hang them from my wall, personally... But if I had an inkling of how to restore a playfield, I'd probably go that route.

    Ceiling tiles...

I'd sell them unless I had other plans for them. I'd rather see that they go into a game, rather than just hang on a wall and watch the colors slowly fade.

Turn them into a bar top
gonefishingleavemsg built a really cool one.

Wow, some really great suggestions that I haven't previously considered. THANK YOU.

patofnaud - I'm still chuckling at the "ceiling tile" suggestion.

Holy cow that's fly as hell!

Sell them and help restore another pinball game. The more the merrier.

I said "hang on the wall as-is"

But I meant "send to Collin so he can hang on the wall as-is"

Hey don't laugh, I have some on the ceiling (lit and unlit) cuz I have an unfinished ceiling and lit them up with 100 led strings that have a 9 pattern controller and they look great. Also have lit and unlit on the walls.

if i had tons of old PF's around and access to a router table and a good table saw , i would epoxy fill all the holes, cut them into 3 inch strips and router tongue and groove joints and make hardwood flooring for my gameroom out of them.

That would be outstanding. I have a friend who just built a recording studio using used basketball court floor. Your idea is even cooler (though considerably more expensive and difficult to source!)

Also look into bowling alleys selling old lanes. Typically fantastic wood and cooler if you get the arrow section.

I used to sell them but now I save th and have them restored. I might find a POS game some day and need it

    #29 8 years ago

I would hang them on the wall, but also list every one in the pinside market with (best offer). If someone offers you enough money to make an empty spot on your wall/ceiling, then sell it. Might want to list which titles you have in case someone is in need of one.
