Your doing fine. Dont worry about removing all the bad color and taking original off- just keep going and then and wax and play. If you want to hit it with clear coat and respray colors thats possible to. Most damage looks to be in areas that would be straight forward to repair as they are larger color blocks.

If inserts are flat it will play great and thats good enough.
