I would do a theme similar to Plague Inc. on the Ipad. Start at patient zero and try to infect the world. Evolve your deadly virus, plague or pathogen. Strategy involves morphing it to adapt to be more survivable or deadly.

Play strategy would be similar to the app, spread it by starting specific modes or hitting certain shots or combos. Use wind currents, infect water or livestock.

Anyway, been awhile since I played the game, but I always thought this would be a killer theme. Probably not very timely with Ebola, but a great theme no doubt.

You could also make this a pin where you choose sides. Don't like killing people? How bout trying to create a cure. Be a hero!

My dream would be to see a Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory Pinball. Not that new garbage but the Gene Wilder movie. So many good ideas for that one.

You MUST include The Great Cornholio. Keep hitting him to satisfy his need for TP! He should be a pop-up bash toy that shakes, like Sparky

I've been thinking of retheming my Jungle Lord, whenever I get the (*&@ thing working again.

    Themes I've pondered so far:

    Battlestar Galactica

    Firefly

    Dune

Archer, or Adult Swim in general

Settlers of Catan - I can switch from "light 1-2-3-4-5 to double all scores" to "light ore-ore-ore-wheat-wheat" to build a city and double all scores.

Community (mainly because with the 2 banks of 3 targets each, I can label them "Pop Pop!")

Internet Cats (I predict in the future that there will be cats on the internet), or other memes

Fahrenheit 451 - not sure how it would translate, but I loved the book

    Catch 22 - ditto to 451F

    SCOOBY DOO or
any sort of SURFING theme, long overdue! Maybe Big Wave World TOUR???????? BWWT

Im from Old School. My design would be single layered playfield. The machines actual size and shape would resemble what the Gottlieb Wedge Heads looked like. Them, I would do something cheerful, like a Summer Time activity. I would call it "Cushman Resort" A popular resort that is located in Washington state on lake Cushman. Artwork on backglass would show the way the resort looked in the late 60s. Kids playing around on the dock, swinging out on the rope swings, etc. Just people lounging around the lakefront having summer time fun

    Star Wars
Harry Potter when the films and books were being released
Unlicensed themes and many of them of all types
Trudeau's Forbidden planet and some of the unique other games he's never had released
Same with Wizard Blocks Lawlor's unreleased B/W pin, but preferably in a regular size cabinet rather than P2000
Pins using the most modern technology and boards possible to show us cool potential we've never experienced before! But with great game play also being a must.

    Futurama, no doubt about it!

"Good news everyone! I found the extra ball!"

    #65 9 years ago

A "Top 10" quality Star Wars pin.

Harry Potter has a huge fanbase and 8 films gives plenty of content for modes.

    #66 9 years ago
    Quoted from Ika:

    1. Dune
    2. Game of Thrones

    Same for me.
    Add Battlestar Galactica for 3.

    #67 9 years ago

Easy! Forbidden Planet, War of the Worlds, The Time Machine, 7th Voyage of Sinbad, 1933 King Kong.
    Music: The Beatles, Led Zep
    TV: The Outer Limits

Futurama - yeah, that'd be a cool *looking* pin, lot of color - you don't see enough "cartoony" pins ala Metallica......

Also think a Kung-Fu style pin would be really cool, capture the old Shaw Bros, Golden Harvest period pieces with a backglass featuring towering temples and heavy stone walls - plenty of modes based on revenge theme - maybe fights in various parts of the countryside (that the playfield graphically represents) with cool 3-D images of a temple, and some ramps that could set off "booby traps" ala the "mousetrap" game - in which the spear, etc. strikes a target and scores the points......lots of great audio with "You, you killed my brother!" or battle sounds with clanking swords and karate yells.

I like more "general" themed pin rather than an "exclusive" one - one based on a single movie or whatever.

Of course, the Stooges pin would be the *ultimate*, could get a beaauuuutiful art job for that one using black, white, silver and gold - the "Stooge splash card" (I guess you could order Shemp if you were so inclined!) that appears before all their shorts would be the backglass.......also hase universal and even current appeal.....

I was thinking along the lines of maybe a Monty Python based pinball machine. I can imagine some classic lines from the TV series or the films would fit quite nicely, BUT, i'm of that generation that grew up with that sort of thing. If someone produced a Justin Bieber or a One Direction pinnie i'd be tempted to go on a "Mission" to burn the lot

I'm totally with you on a Monty Python Game! So many funny callouts. It could have a can of SPAM multiball, a bird cage with a dead parrot, and a big rubber foot that squashes things...endless play field toy possibilities. Also I think Monty Python has international appeal and the Terry Gilliam artwork would fit well with pinball. A very funny, silly game for the home game rooms.

Unfortunately the younger crowd does not know or care much for Monty Python, so something based on a modern gaming platform might do better commercially. In that case, Uncharted, HALO, Gears of War...Grand Theft Auto...

I think "The Nightmare Before Christmas" would be the perfect theme for pinball. The art is amazing, there are many fun characters to pick from and the music is great. One of those timeless classics, that never gets old and is great for both children and adults. Would love to see JJP do this one.

Another thought, Lexx, a Canadian / German sci-fi/comedy series from 15 years ago. It was great, and creative, and wierd, and could be so easily used to theme a pin.

For the kids (or young at heart)
    Snoopy
    Charlie Brown/Peanuts

For the wise guy in all of us
    Mad Magazine

    Retro
nice comic book style Batman (similar to Amazing Spider-Man)

    for Sci-Fi
Something outer space, like The Universe
could incorporate nebula, solar flares, blackhole(ball could disappear and reappear ???) quadrants, light speed, the possibilities are endless.
How about Mission to Mars (in advance of the actual mission)

    #83 9 years ago

Nightmare before Christmas, it's huge, people would buy it even if they didn't know what pinball was.

    #84 9 years ago

It's been done already. I've got one coming next week.

Bible Adventures! Yes, I'd really like to do it someday.

    1) Advance the 10 plagues of Egypt to Open Red (split in PF) for Exodus multiball
    2) Hit all targets twice to collect animals for Noah's Ark, then survive a 40 second MB
    3) Lower playfield Lion's den to throw the colorful coat guy into
    4) Adam & Eve 2 ball MB. All switches score, avoid Apple target else mode ends.
    5) Rear orbit advances Destroy Jericho (crumbling wall mech)
    6) 2 MB "David and Goliath" battle, hit strobing shots to beat Goliath
    7) "Wisdom of Solomon" scoop random award (must complete David V Goliath to light)
    8) Pop bumpers advance battles of Samson, collect X amount to start Samson & Delilah (Samson action figure chained to columns toy)

Basically, any commonly known Old Testament story works well for pinball as everything involves repetition and numbering.

A gangster/mob/mafia pinball, no need to be licensed, so much can be done with a theme like this.

The music themed pins are good for routing and putting in the home alike. I think a RUSH pin would be awesome. Who doesn't love to rock out and play awesome pinball? BIB-LE (or really any of the AC/DC pins) was a total blast to play.

    #94 9 years ago
    Quoted from AJB4:

I think a RUSH pin would be awesome.

Especially if they used RUSH songs when they still rocked out, before they got all artsy-fartsy.

Was that before or after they started wearing robes.

Firefly would rock, but you probably would never get Morena Baccarin for voice overs now that she's big from Homeland.

    3) Lower playfield Lion's den to throw the colorful coat guy into

You're mixing two different Bible stories here, although it could work for both.

Daniel in the lion's den and Joseph (colorful coat) in the pit (no lions).

    #99 9 years ago

I don't think you'd get Firefly in general as Joss Whedon is too big.

Great theme idea though! Or maybe Battlestar!
