Quoted from Manimal:

They re-branded it a couple of times, and I think the last version was the Sirens of TI.....but it always drew a crowd, and ultimately it drew a lot of folks into the casino. But gaming floors are supporting the properties less and less, and now the concentration is on shows, food and retail, as a result of it being a "family destination" full of vacationers who are not hard core gamblers. I have been in meetings with Phil and his son, and although he often looks like a hermit, the one thing he knows how to do is to make money. He was the one guy in Vegas that made a crapload of money and then sold for a premium just before the collapse. Then he comes back on the tail end of that crash and buys TI for pennies on the dollar. He will no doubt make money on this deal, but it is sad to see a Vegas Staple disappear.

Agreed. Very smart man for sure. I was sad to see it go also.

That's the place. The morning steak special started getting a little iffy for me. I'd get a good one, then the next one would be shoe leather. I saw somebody get the breakfast skillet and decided to try it. We get the skillet every time now. It is so good.

I haven't been to Ellis Island in years, but they used to have the deals, $1 beers and $5.99 or $6.99 steak dinner. I'm assuming it's about the same. Never fantastic quality, but cheap and decent and if you stay in a place like the Flamingo Hilton it's within walking distance, as is the cheap liquor store on the way.

If you are into punk rock, the best live music deals for Vegas is Punk Rock Bowling weekend. You can even skip the festival and just buy tickets to some of the $15 club shows, which often have fantastic line ups of pretty big bands.

There's a meme for that.

or alternatively

Well.....just saw this downtown

#206 7 years ago

Go to Reno. Still good deals plus hookers and blow sent straight to the rooms. None of this "not in the city limits" crap like in Vegas.

There are tons of hookers in all of the Vegas casinos. They sit at the penny slots and smile at all the guys that that make eye contact.
How do I know they're hookers?
They hit on me when I walked by. When I told them I have a pregnant wife at home, they all said she doesn't' have to know, or they don't mind. Now I'm not the most heinous guy to look at, but I'm pretty sure if I took them up on their offers, money would have to be exchanged.

Yep. One of the better looking ugly naked people downtown.

What is really sad is how this is now normal for downtown and no one bats an eyelash. In the old days she would have disappeared very quickly, never to be seen again. Say what you want, but no one can ever run Vegas like the "boys" did...you could still get anything your heart desired, but they served it to you with class...not with a cratered ass!

That's the junior size of the 2 in that Cirque show at NYNY. Where's the tray of strawberries?

I got hit on really hard at the last March Madness. She was a working girl at the bar, nice looking Asian/Korean babe. Perfect looking. I told her up front I had no intention of leaving with her and she stayed with me for at least an hour. I was not an asshole to her why should I be. I was probably the only guy who said no.

#214 7 years ago

I go for the Hooker's. If you shop a bit deals are around.

Or if they are a decoy, you'd be arrested. Prostitution is legal in Howard County, not in Clark County where Las Vegas is.

I really wish there was a way that I could 'un-see' this. Oh lordy lordy.

An entire town whose sole purpose is to be a tourist trap is expensive?

Color me shocked!

Nye COuNty is the closest legal one to Clark. Look for the red lights at night......

What happens in Vegas.. stays in Vegas.

Unless it's an STD. That shit comes back with you.

The old guy staring sort of looks like JPop with a haircut. Probably getting inspiration for his next pin....Tragic Girl?

FWIW I've been to Vegas only once and had a great time. Enjoyed Red Rock, PHOF, and wish I would have spent more time downtown. Really pissed off I didn't check out the arcade in NYNY since I was staying there.

#228 7 years ago

Tragic Girl.....epic!

When the Gold Spike was still a shitty, shitty hotel & casino Downtown, I had the good fortune of showing up on the same night that a Vespa convention checked into the hotel. I played $2 hands of Blackjack with a table of Mods and it was the most damn fun I've ever had at a BJ table. They were serving us 40s of Budweiser! Dear lord.

And then, there was The Western. Whoooooo, was that an awesome dump! Sawdust on the floor. Felts on the table totally torn up from all the cigarette burns. Bums falling asleep at the slot machines and security guards patiently nudging them awake.

I went to the bar and asked for a Corona. The bartender gruffly responded, "we don't have Corona. Only Tecate." I said ok, give me a bottle of that. "We don't have bottles. Cans only". My friend ordered a Jack and Coke which he described as "a Royal Crown with gasoline in it". Absolutely awesome. Now it's gone.

No, but she did eat both burgers and all the fries

I've been to Vegas several times over the past 30 years, and I've never seen a BJ table. Guess I've been going to the wrong part of the casino.

You've probably seen them and just didn't realize it. Ya gotta look under the table

I've watched documentaries about the hookers in the cat houses around Vegas. Louie Theroux from the BBC did a very good one.

What I couldn't believe was how much they were charging for the "services" ...

The going rate (so I am told ..) around Auckland is $100-200 NZ bucks ... but the ones on the TV were like 500-900 US bucks. I know a guy who had a lady come to his room in Vegas and she wanted like $500 bucks or something like that.

Is it really that much? Always wondered. Seems a shit load of money.

What I couldn't believe is how nasty they all were. Old washed up fake breasted skanks.

If it flies, floats or F#cks it's cheaper to rent than to buy.

Article in the WSJ today on this exact topic if you can access it.

back in the day me and my ex wife would have fun in Vegas yearly. That was when my ex wife was capable of fun. when we stopped our annual visits and jumped head on into parenthood, that is when that part of my life died. Anyways, downtown.

One great night I had there was I can remember where, old town strip. Played black jack for the first time and played all night long. Won about a grand. This was good for me it was about 1995 or so. My next door neighbors wife made me learn, she taught me. I have never lost blackjack since that night. So to speak.

#249 7 years ago

Horrible grammar from me sorry. I wanted to bring up prostitution more, I guess it's coming...

I think this is the rational, but I really don't know anything about it.
