Taps
Quoted from Frippertron:Savatage-Believe
Barf.
For me it's Weekend in New England, one of my late wife's faves and played at her funeral.
"Seasons in the Sun" by Terry Jacks. Well, makes me sad anyways. I don't know if ANY song actually makes me cry....
Keep me in your heart - Warren Zevon. One of the best, most underappreciated, and honest song writers at his most vulnerable.
For a dancer - Jackson Browne
If I were to go back and listen to any song by Mister Fred Rogers from his television show, that would probably do it for me.

Sure, sure they would.....

I was gonna downvote you until you mentioned your wife's passing. My condolences. I'm a progressive rock/metal fan and have liked Savatage since I was a kid. It's an album thing for me.
no song has ever made me cry but being a teacher i can totally relate to "To Sir with Love" by Lulu, especially now as the school year comes to an end. hard not to connect with some really special kids that for some reason stand out and i will never forget. fortunately with social media, i have been able to stay in touch and even stay close to a hand full, going to their college graduations, weddings, kid's baptism, ...

I probably deserved it, though I'd never see it anyway, as I turned off downvotes being displayed a while back. Still, no need to criticize anyone's song, though I can't quite grasp how anyone could disagree what song makes someone else barf!
Yep, eight years after her passing, and I pulled up ol' Barry after posting before and two seconds later, here come the waterworks.
Someone posted a link to that Pavarotti clip of him singing Nissun Dorma at the Olympics. That gets me choked up every time, such power! Not quite to the point of tears, though. I watched that again earlier, same result. Then I was just watching episode 5 of Goliath, and they used that same recording on the last scene, freaky coincidence!
Parts of Phish's song The Divided Sky give me the chills too, but it's not sad.
It'd be nice if those posting links to YouTube would also caption them, I'm not clicking on every one just to see what they are.
"Butterfly Kisses" by Bob Carlisle....if you have a daughter, brace yourself.
1st time I heard it, pulled over and cried like a baby.....still gets me...
Quoted from Don44:Hummer by smashing pumpkins gets me so does jumper
Soma by Smashing Pumpkins is a great one too.
Quoted from SteveO:Elton John- Ticking
And I would add Goodbye Yellow Brick Road from Capt. Fantastic also
If I'm drinking at a bar and everyone is clogging up my ears with karaoke Country music, I pull out my secret weapon.
I ask the DJ to tune it down a half-step for me so it's in my range.
Brook Benton - Rainy Night in Georgia

Bah, the Boll Weevil song by Brook. Or, really mess around with Copacabana by Barry Manilow.
Quoted from MrBally:Bah, the Boll Weevil song by Brook. Or, really mess around with Copacabana by Barry Manilow.
Neither of those songs are sad.
Well, Copacabana is, but in a different way.....
Quoted from o-din:Ok what about Cats in the Cradle? That is a serious tear jerker there.
Came in expecting Cats In the Cradle
Leaving satisfied
Then if we want to follow this train of thought, Tim Buckley (the guy who wrote "Song To The Siren") son, Jeff Buckley, did "the" version of Hallelujah.
That song is an instant tear jerk, and has been recorded so many times that the writer, Lenard Cohen, asked that people quit recording it.
Jeff Buckley - "Hallelujah"
These songs kill me and open the floodgates whenever I hear them.....
•See You Again
Song by Wiz Khalifa ft. Charlie
•Man of the hour & Last Kiss

•CHRISTINA PERRI – A THOUSAND YEARS
•Over the Rainbow

Iron Eyes Cody (born Espera Oscar de Corti April 3, 1904 – January 4, 1999) was an Italian-American actor. He portrayed Native Americans in Hollywood films.[ He also played a Native American shedding a tear about litter in one of the country's most well-known television public service announcements, "Keep America Beautiful".[
After someone's mention of the song on Vinyl Club thread, I realized
Black Sabbath - Changes
Always tugged a heart string.
I figure there is no point starting an eargasm thread with this one already going, but that's what this song is all about.
I give you Florence and the Machine.
