If they do TMNT, 90% chance it will be the current generation - which is not what most pinball buying age people seem to want.
License holders always want to promote the current version, if it's selling well and it sounds like it is.

    #53 4 years ago

I'd much rather see an TAF remake than TMNT. Isn't there a TAF movie coming out?

TMNT just seems so lame. I grew up during that era and watched it on tv, but always found it rather dumb.

The trend now is remaking old pinball themes. See BK, JP, and Elvira.

Isn't it time to give the Flintstones another shot?

We need a new PINBOT dammit.

More of a robot theme. Pinbot has arms that catch/throw balls, a face, etc.

    Man. Bring back the BOT!!

For those that are hanging onto the TMNT from their youth, wouldn't it be cheaper to go this route?

I just searched on the internet and it looked like a nice bedroom set to appease any 40 year old TMNT fan.

The rumors are now pretty solid and from multiple sources.
Not a game I can get excited about, but there is enough nostalgia for it to sell decent.

mnpinball happen to be one of them? If so, then I'll def believe the veracity of the claims.

Looks like your poll is failing...

You may hate the theme but reality is turtles will sell. There is a reason why you see ninja turtles lamps sheets USB drives basically you can buy ninja turtles everything!

Bright side there releasing more games then ever so if you don’t like turtles just wait a few months.

    Another positive
this title will help the youth get more interested in pinball and keep this hobby thriving.

    Quoted from T7:

when was the last time you bought some TMNT merchandise that cost more than $100 for an adult (not a kid)?

When I bought a graded TMNT first edition issue 1 comic. When I bought the 1989 Konami arcade and Turtles in Time PCB. When I bought an original sealed technodrome. Heck, when I bought the TMNT Star Trek turtles I saw at a vintage toy store a month ago. As for newer stuff...I did buy the NECA SDCC exclusive TMNT items. I think you’d be surprised.

Also in the same vein is music pins, I own AC/DC don’t really like the music but like the pin. The music is almost white noise to me when I play it. It is the pin my kids like playing the most.

Since it's Zombie Yeti on art I'd have to imagine that this will be a really cool comic inspired artwork, similar to what he did for Deadpool and not based on any particular era of the TMNT franchise. It will probably have TMNT logo and branding but be its own chapter in the TMNT universe with stylized versions of the characters and villains.. I'd imagine there will voice actors and a more rock inspired version of the classic TMNT theme song.

The theme and art really intrigue me on this game but I'm hoping for a non copy and paste layout.-assuming this is Borg.

I'm thinking more like this - love this intro. Cue the konami arcade!:

See I wouldn't want anything about that in this game. Anything after the 90s is just terrible imo.

    #74 4 years ago

Aaaaand pinside can’t even agree on which turtles...oh well

    #75 4 years ago

Not getting TMNT or why it’s a great theme = outing yourself as OLD AF.

Also, no need to guess which Turtles. It’s the classic 80’s cartoon. That was the biggest one ever with the most nostalgia attached. Stern sells nostalgia.

    #76 4 years ago

Anything from the 90's is nostalgia gold right now. This includes TMNT.

GenX might not have been into the toys but we sure as hell loved all the videogames and the still-awesome 1990 movie.

To those saying "it's a waste of Zombie Yeti" I'd bet he frickin' LOVES TMNT. So not a waste for him

    #77 4 years ago

I think TMNT would be hit, it’s a classic theme, it just needs to be done carefully an based more on the movies than cartoons, definitely shouldn’t be done the nicolodian re boot version that’s out at present that will never work an look way too childish. The last movie was really good an they innovated the look by changing a few of there head pieces an making them look a bit grimey which Brought them from old school to new school an a hell of a lot tougher to be honest. There’s a lot of subject that can write for a good story line for a pin, there’s been so many characters that can be implied in, foot soldiers, Rock Steady, Beebop, Shredder, Super Shredder, Crang, an that’s without even thinking. There could be so many possibilities for modes that could really work, if they have a designer an a coder who are fans an familiar wth the theme, I can’t see how it can’t be done well. I think the problem with Wrestlemania was they didn’t have anyone who was really passionate about the theme in house to work on it, yeah the ring was innovative an a good gimmick but outside of that there was no thought put in at all, the play field art is just cut an paste an the code is extremely broken, I like the machine it’s cool that it’s different an mixes is up a bit, but it’s far from a classic!! Ninja Turtles shouldn’t have that problem. The art an storyline can go a very far way...

    #78 4 years ago

I hope you all get your TMNT.

I also hope they come out with a "Comic Version", a "1980's Version" and a "1990's Version". Everyone can be happy.

More than anything, I hope the playfield is problem free and the code complete.

    Good luck everyone!

TMNT is a theme that was incredibly popular during the 80s and 90s. It’s nostalgic to buyers and something kids would be drawn to. Seems like a no brainer.

You say mini mullet, I say the beginnings of baldness.

Fashion is cyclical, or sickening, or something in between.

    Quoted from RonSS:

Fashion is cyclical, or sickening, or something in between.

There is no denying in my book 80s fashion was some of the worst ever and should be left behind in a time capsule.

Sorry to you kids that grew up in that decade, but it is what it is.

As a young adult at that time, sure there was plenty of media and toys, but most of it seemed pretty watered down compared to what we were used to and pretty funny to see what kids were getting excited about now. Most redeeming thing that came out of the 80s was money could be made and women were getting in shape.

So excuse me while I sit back and laugh while you all carry on about your 80s fetish.

    #86 4 years ago

I think the 80s might have been the best decade ever.

    For everything.

I saw them open up for a much better band called Gary Myrick and the Figures.

And the best part about the 80s was when it was over.

You guys should go ahead and have your fun. I don't want to seem like the crotchety one. Because I'm not.

Like I said, I've always taken in culture as it happens, and got a whole new dose of kid's entertainment with my daughter growing up.

    Spongebob FTW!

They made one for kids that grew up when I did and it was called Thunderbirds. At first I was excited, but the novelty about buying it wore off even before we knew how it played. Still a great show.

    #89 4 years ago

It’s gonna be an expensive year if the rumors are true.

I’m gonna need 2 TMNT pins and if JJP is doing guns and roses that’s on the list as well!

    #90 4 years ago
    Quoted from o-din:

After TMNT and Bobby's World we can continue on with these other great similar genre pinball themes.

Odin I agree with u but Dammit u leave Spongebob out of it.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles seems like a great theme. The turtles themselves are are represented by colors, Leonardo (Blue), Michelangelo (Orange), Donatello (Purple), and Raphael (Purple). That seems perfect for color changing inserts. You then have supporting characters like Splinter, April, and Casey Jones. They can battle iconic villains including: Shredder, Krang, Baxter Stockman, Karai, Bebop and Rocksteady; plus good unnamed characters like mousers and Foot Soldiers.Toss in sewers, pizza, Ooze, Technodrome, etc. I think it could really work.

    #96 4 years ago

I think people are way underestimating TMNT’s relevance. It’s TMNT’s 35th anniversary this year which would make it a perfect time to release a new pin based on the theme.

Here’s a quick break down of TMNT’s relevance:

    Comics:
    3 main series:

    Mirage
    Archie
IDW (Present series currently going strong with the introduction of a fifth turtle)

    TV:
5 series based on the property

    Original 1987-1996
    Next Mutation 1997-1998
    TMNT 2003-2009
    Nickelodeon TMNT 2012-2017
    Rise of the TMNT 2018-present

    Movies:
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze (1991)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III (1993)
    TMNT (CGI) 2007
    Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (2016)
    Another Reboot (In Development)

    Video Games:
    Basically from 1989-Present

Also, look at what companies like Mondo and NECA are doing. You will see multiple collector centric figures priced at $100+ alongside screen prints that sell out in minutes.

The pin would be a huge hit and is perfect for those people with disposable income between 30-40.

Not being snarky, but given your name, you may be overestimating the relevance.

I think it would sell too, but I don't think it'd be the magnet you think it would.

I like it as much as Munsters, which is to say, yawn. Plenty of potential, but I'd rather a different theme.

Either way, I hope they make one for you.
