Post quality for me is judged on the percentage of topics closed compared to how many topics started.

    #3 3 years ago

1.366 but my u/d ratio is only 76.7%. So which number am I really shooting for? Not sure this is an accurate indication of post quality... but if it is, maybe I have a little bit of quality? Maybe a better gauge would be (up posts/total post count)* UpDown ratio? Mine would be 1.024 just an average joe since I piss off a lot of people.

The thumbs up ratio is too similar to Chinas social standing score, we don't need it, means nothing and generates ill-will.

    #5 3 years ago

I don’t think there is much of a correlation between upvote ratios and actual post quality.

    HOLY PISS ODIN IS BACK!!!

My upboat ratio was great until a select few folks dislike bombed all my recent posts.
Thankfully I was able to ignore most of them but for a few weeks they literally maxed out their “thumbs down” limit (you get an abuse warning after so many in a row) every single day.

How exhausting it must be to have some dork from a pinball website living rent-free in your head

I don't think post quality is determined by ones up/down ratio. On pinside, many people will downvote if they simply disagree with you. It doesn't necessarily mean your posts are "bad quality". Therefore, I think up/down ratios don't really matter. I don't like downvotes. I have them turned off. Seems pointless to me.

After watching the social dilemma I blocked the thumbs up and thumbs down.

A great documentary about how fucked up social media is and how it is crushing our youth.

Check out Black Mirror Season 3 Episode 1 this is a great example of how things get out of control.

We don't need it but plenty want it. When we go to a social credit score look for me buying property in the middle of Montana.

If you've ever attended an LTG show at expo you'd figure someone out there would be offended. You can't make everyone happy. But that's not my or LTG's problem.

    #22 3 years ago

I guess this is good. I’d say 99% of those down votes are from the same 5 people.

I don't think anybody pisses off anyone....it's more of some don't know what the hell they are talking about.

I can't recall that one but if I was there and sitting far back enough, seeing her walk out, would have been icing on the cake for me.

    #27 3 years ago

It’s not that important to me. Believe I once got close to 100 downvotes on a single post. You could say “I was it” for a few days.

    #28 3 years ago

But that's Canadian so your 1.18 is really like .20

    #29 3 years ago

Thank my ratio is 1.35 up votes per post. If my math is correct

Mine is 1.23. OP is asking for your upvote count divided by your post count. Not your upvote percentage.

Although I question the metric. It's ridiculously easy to write pandering drivel that attracts tons of upvotes.

Also, I, personally, would need to see data on grammar, misspellings and mispunctuations being considered before labeling anything to be of "quality." Maybe no one else cares about those any more, but I do. This here is more of an "agreeability" rating.

While I'm at it, I keep asking, and no one ever tells me: what thumbs? Where are these thumbs? I see no thumbs. Upvotes and downvotes, yeah, but I see no thumbs anywhere, except for the word "thumbs" in that one heading where it gives your upvote ratio. I think TiVo has a copyright and/or trademark on thumbs up/down nomenclature, actually.

The Black Mirror Episode was scary but illustrated very well how people manipulate their actions to get a good score, not be better people.

Not sure which of these numbers I am most proud of.

Sure, but I really wish they showed how many posts were deleted or evaporated into thin air without so much as a notice or anything. Also, not sure that includes all the times the posts just disappeared and a notice arrived anyway that never really explained why.

It would be easy to take my entire post count and subtract those that still remain. On second thought...

    #35 3 years ago

2.02, but I think a good deal of that has to do with my lower post count.

    #36 3 years ago

    2.53

My post count is kind of gross, but o-din is always around to make me feel better.

Too many LIONMAN posts I guess to do better. This post won't help either
