The line was reused in a song by Tom. T-Bone Stankus in 1980 call "The Existential Blues" which aired on the Dr. Demento show.
That's probably where it got it's popularity.
Best to ignore the Closed Caption lyrics on the video. They are way wrong.
Also, there is a live performance version of the song. but the line is "I'd rather have THIS bottle in front of me ...",
