Alcohol does not solve problems, but neither does milk.

    Quoted from JohnnyPinball007:

Alcohol does not solve problems, but neither does milk.

I don't know if this is something you came up with or if someone else said it, but milk does not cause the problems that alcohol can cause.

The reward for good work is more work.

A good plan right now is better than a perfect plan next week.

    #370 3 years ago
    Quoted from shimmydisc:

A good plan right now is better than a perfect plan next week.

This is actually a shortening of a famous George S. Patton quote which is one of my all time favorites:

A good plan, violently executed now, is better than a perfect plan next week.

And similar to the famous Military Stragetist Prussian General Karl von Clausewitz in Vom Kriege, 1832:

The enemy of a good plan is the dream of a perfect plan.”

    #371 3 years ago

It also reminds me of a Dwight D. Eisenhower quote about planning:

Plans are nothing; planning is everything.

and two more of his I like:

Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do something you want done because he wants to do it.

What counts is not necessarily the size of the dog in the fight - it's the size of the fight in the dog.

"So, how long you been fukin her".

Dice Clay to me opening his act. I sat front row not knowing he was a surprise act.

I answered, "a few months" as I was on a first date with a stripper.

Dice then looks at her and says, "You gonna marry him".

    I answered, "woah, I'm married".

He could have buried me but laughed and took it easy on me. When he finished his act the waitress came by with 2 beers from him. The girl and I had a good time for awhile.

Everytime I get a question from my kid that I can’t answer like, “Daddy, is there people on other planets? or “Is there really a God?” I say, The fact that we exist at all makes anything possible. He’s only 5 so he says, “What does that mean?” It means that I don’t know but it helps me to believe that I have faith in the chances.
