I've never encountered an automatic sword myself...

“True terror is to wake up one morning and discover that your high school class is running the country.”
– Kurt Vonnegut
“No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country.” - general George Patton
The people who cast the votes don't decide an election, the people who count the votes do. Joseph Stalin

No matter how kind your children are, German children will always be kinder!
Truer than you first think!!
A couple of retired Federal law enforcement guys at our golf club told us a story about an arrest of theirs. They say that they get the ok to arrest their Italian suspect who is exiting a bakery and shout, "Federal Agents. Drop the cannolis. Your under arrest".
Quoted from ReadyPO:“Whoever said the pen is mightier than the sword obviously never encountered automatic weapons.”
― Douglas MacArthur
The pen is mightier than the sword is a famous adage speaking about the power of writing. A pen can achieve a lot more than a sword does. It means that the power of writing is eternal while the power of the sword is short-lived. ... This is why it is said that a pen is mightier than a sword.Jun 21, 2017
Quoted from chad:A pen can achieve a lot more than a sword does.
A good point and I agree words are powerful and a precursor to many a change good or bad (Declaration of Independence, Communist Manifesto, etc)
General MacArthur was essentially restating what he learned from studying Military Theorist and Strategist Carl von Clausewitz who famously wrote
“War is a mere continuation of policy by other means”, in other words,
"Actions speak louder than words" or "Words are meaningless without action"
Or, as Mae West once said:
I’m a woman of very few words, but lots of action
Or Elvis Presley
A little less conversation, a little more action please
Or my wife
When are you going to stop posting on Pinside and get the gutters cleaned out?
Take what you want but eat what you take.
My grandpa used to say this at dinner all the time. Great Depression stuff.
Quoted from ReadyPO:Or Elvis Presley

“If life was fair, Elvis would be alive and all the impersonators would be dead.”
– Johnny Carson
"He who laughs last, is the last laugher." - a misquoted quote by one of my friends. The way he said it with such smug confidence made it my all time favorite.
Quoted from dirkdiggler:"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results"
A. Einstein
Einstein never said it. Good for him! He was far too intelligent to make such a ridiculous, meaningless statement. Expecting a different result from the same action might be stupid, but it wouldn't be indicative of anything as drastic as an insanity diagnosis, which is an extremely serious matter.

“With fame I become more and more stupid, which of course is a very common phenomenon.”
- Albert Einstein
Ok, maybe not "quotes" but....
No one is completely worthless. They can always serve as a bad example.
There are no stupid questions. Just a lot of inquisitive idiots.
If you shake it more than 3 times, then you are playing with it.
(just something stupid this dude I used to work with used to say).
If you are on time you are late. (something I used to hear when working for someone).
(not at all my favorite quotes, but just old bs that I just remembered).

Reminds me what I tell my kids :
Early is "on time"
On time is "late"
Late is never
Quoted from marioparty34:Reminds me what I tell my kids :
Early is "on time"
On time is "late"
Late is never
Yay for promptness! But this is nonsense. Logically, it asserts that early, on time, late and never are the same thing.
What's next? Will someone claim that "It is what it is" is the height of pithiness?
Grew hearing these from my father and my favorites to this day.
That’s cheap at twice the price.
We cheated death once again.
Quoted from egyptrus:I believe it was Winston Churchill, responding to a lady who said he was drunk, responded with "yes, I am drunk but you are ugly and in the morning, I shall be sober"
That was W.C. Fields
