So, im watching Iron Maiden gameplay and wondering...The "orbit shot" in pinball, what's the orgin of the name? Was it on an earlier space theme pin and was called the "orbit shot" and just "stuck" as the name of that shot moving forward in pinball across the board?

My pinball buddy's theory is "More like the moon orbits the earth, and the shot around the outside of everything else on the play field mimicks the moon?"

Anyone have any other theories or know why it is called the "orbit shot?" I'm just very curious...

These are great breakdowns and explainations, thank you but to add another layer, watching a PAPA tutorial of Theater of Magic, which i think has the best "orbit shot" in pinball, the player calls it a "loop shot" and watching back my own Hobbit videos, Gandalf's callout is "shoot the left or right loop" so, are these the same shot but a different term for the same shot?
