I have a reset breaker for diagnostic help but I am not sure of its rating. It has 3.9 A hold 6.0 A on it. I guess I do not fully understand this breakers rating. Can anyone tell me what the 2 different limits are for? Thanks

6.0 amps is what it will trip (blow) at. The 3.9 amp hold is that it will not trip at 3.9 amps.

    Quoted from KenLayton:

6.0 amps is what it will trip (blow) at. The 3.9 amp hold is that it will not trip at 3.9 amps.

What is the point of including the 3.9? Does that mean anywhere between 3.9 and 6.0 it may or may not trip?

And how can you tell what voltage rating and if it’s listed as AC or DC?

The 3.9A means it is guaranteed not to trip at less than 3.9A. And over 6.0A it is guaranteed to trip in specified time (unknown from the values shown) Between 3.9A and 6.0A it may or may not trip, depending on exact current and time.

Usually the voltage rating for those is at least 110V AC, but may be less for DC, because cutting out DC power requires a larger switch gap because of inductive loads.

Thanks for the replies. That clears it up for me.
