It was planned and set up with another purebred golden. We made sure we had a good number of quality homes that are ready to give the pups a nice place to live, most on the list have had goldens before. One may be going to a local pinsider...

Congrats...but i would like to see a ''railing'' all around the inside of the box so no accident happen.
I used a 2 x 6 at about 4'' above the floor of the box.
Fun times ahead for you guys.Chasing them around when they are 5-8 weeks old is the best part![quoted image]
Those side rails make sense, I will put some in asap, thanks for the tip
Quoted from Deaconblooze:What's the purpose of the side rails?
It keeps momma from getting a baby squished between her and the side wall when she is laying down, creates a little tunnel for the pup
Quoted from PinBallPeteFromSD:Let's have a day 2 update.
Final count 5 boys and 3 girls...

Is it to prevent smothering?
They are too cute. We are really enjoying see this. Our last golden "Barry" was a pound dog. We got him when he was 1-3 years old. They had no way of knowing his age since he was a stray. When he was young and did something bad we would say why would a 3 year old dog do that. When he got old we said he must have been 1 when we got him, hoping he would last a few more years.

Have you made decision to keep any of the litter for yourself and companion for Reagan?
If so will it be the pride of the litter or the runt?

Pinball people are some cool peeps. These dogs are all so adorable.

Those are great pics..

Yes, we are keeping one of the girls, its the only reason we wanted to breed her.
I have had 3 goldens before, each time we choose the smallest girl....the runt in this litter is a boy but there is one girl who is almost as small but she is the most vocal of the group so far so were not sure which one will we keep
We are waiting for them to get a bit bigger and are assuming that one will pick us instead of us pick it...
Quoted from cosmokramer:that one will pick us instead of us pick it.
Yeah probably too soon to pick, until they start developing their own unique personalities and temperaments.
Quoted from cosmokramer:8 days old, growing very fast...just now the bigger ones are fitting into their collars...In about 3 days or so their eyes should be open ...

The safety railing was the best thing to add, really worked well...
Those are some nice puppies!
Louie will be 12 weeks old this coming Wednesday.I've had him for over three weeks, and he's doing great. I had him at Home Depot last week,to get him socialized with some new people. I also started him in obedience classes two weeks ago,so that he'll be a well behaved adult dog. Plus he gets to meet other dogs, which is a major plus in his socialization with strange dogs.
Louie is the nephew of my last Rottweiler "Hercules" who passed away this past June 23. Hercules was an awesome dog,who loved people, and he always seemed to have a smile on his face. I included a picture of Hercules, and his sister Milly, that was taken last Christmas.
Quoted from yzfguy:I've heard of Petco allowing pets, but you can bring them to home Depot?
There are several home depots near me, I see dogs there all the time...to be honest I have taken my dog there...I dont think its *really* allowed but I guess they figure its not worth the hassle when the customer is just going to argue that its an emotional support dog...
Quoted from Rozeks:My buddy Baxter turned 2 on 12/26.

We love dogs...but my wife immediately said “I see an AT-AT.” I have a true geek as my wife.

OMG! I love that face

Is this the one you chose, or did she choose you?
Beautiful pups!
Quoted from cosmokramer:[quoted image][quoted image]
Nothing like a little puppy, and I love their puppy breath too.
P.S
Not a big fan of their little needle like teeth.

I also had a Rottweiler named Hercules! 150lb rock of love. Same traits as your dog. Best of success to you and the new pup.
18 days old
Walking, talking (sometimes howling) and starting to get into mischief...
I built Reagans box with a fold down door so she could easily get in it when she was fat and pregnant...now she is fit and trim enough to jump over the side, which is a good thing because the pups are getting strong enough to climb out with the door open so its time to keep the door closed...

Reagans done with all this....
Goldens are cool dogs
but just too big for my preference.
A friend has two females
sweet temperaments always looking for love and affection
but just too big, especially if a house dog.

We have a lab/doberman mix that is over 100 pounds. A "house dog" can still go out and run around the yard, so I don't really get this. To each his own, but big dogs are great and also may deter an intruder. Ours scares the hell out of anyone who meets her until she decides to be their buddy
I always think my 70 pound labs are big dogs, until I take them to the off leash park. Then they look medium sized compared to most there
Great puppy pics BTW, they grow up so quickly. This thread is the only one my wife cares about on pinside
My limit on dog size is:
am I able to pick it up and carry it.
50 lbs is about my limit.
Not a big fan of teeny dogs
as they tend to yap too much.
15-40 lbs about right size for me
does not really matter the breed (a Mutt is fine)
though would ideally like one that
does not shed much.
Our doxie is getting old (13yrs)
and may not be around much longer
but do not know if we will get another dog
should that day come.
We (wife) got 7 cats now,
so if we got a new dog it would have to get along with cats.
Quoted from SpookyKT:It is -11 here in WI please post more puppy pics to cheer me up

What a great experience this has been....

They are quite active now and play all the time, the box can barely hold everybody...
