While installing a mod I put too much pressure on a wire and pulled it out of a connector. I’m trying to figure out what kind of punch-down tool I need to fix it.

It’s a stern AC/DC vault. Pics attached. Pointers would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Andrew

I think it is this size...

otherwise same type of took but sized right. They seem to use a common size though. Otherwise a screw driver pushed carefully can work..

I wasn’t having much luck with a screw driver

    Thanks for the link.

make sure to line up the end of the wire with the others, there is that little wall so they don't poke out. it will also make punching easier. The screw driver will have to be a very small one.

Hope you get a tool or a fix soon!

I have a punch-down (insertion) tool I use with rj45’s for Ethernet. It just occurred to me they may be the same size. Now if I can find it...

That link to the 1590 tool is the right one.

.156 punch down tool if not then .100, Marco sells them. The single pin is cheap around $10. The hand held crimp tool is pricey though. Good luck.

I got the .156 tool and I think it’s too big. I ended up using a screw driver after all.

No, I bought that piece of shit from Marco, and it lasts for a few uses and plastic wares out. For IDC connectors, this is the tool you want, from Swinks. It will last a life time.

yes on Shapeways and now have 2 different handles, with the yellow one having a hex on the end to remove pinball button nuts so is dual purpose.

as for the metal part I did a second one due to request with 0.156 on one end and 0.100 on the other - though not tested as the requestor never bought it but I copied the pinball life profile plastic one

I just ordered the yellow handle and the dual (0.156 on one end and 0.100 on the other) insertion tool from you.
It looks like a perfect tool for my toolbox.

Ill let you know if there are any issues.

No you are thinking of a 110 punch down, that wont work. Sometimes with just one or two to repunch you can use the edge of a credit card and it wont hurt the IDC in the connecter.

    that LOOKs like a 0.100 IDC, not a 0.156.

I ordered the 0.100 IDC from Amazon IIRC; because PBL doesn't sell the 0.100 for some reason.
Edit; they just started caring the 0.100":

I really liked the flipper nut driver idea in the handle. I hope it works as good as it looks!

    Yes it does the trick
