And which do you not do? And why?

Personally, I try to use every skill I can when playing. I am definitely a "control" player.

I do a lot of trapping and live catching. I drop catch, post pass and bounce pass all the time. I will even try to do alley passes on solid states if the rewards seem reasonable.

Sometimes I try to "over-finesse" the ball and pay for it.

I've only got a 2-inch flipper EM, so a lot of the catching and passing I try to do costs me all the time. The bounce pass almost always drains down the middle on me. But the drop-catch seems to work pretty good. Unless I mis-judge it. I get natural death saves from bouncing off the bottom after it goes down the middle because the drain is so wide, but every time I try to do it myself it tilts.

Lots to learn, but my games are definitely getting better! I think controlling the ball (and the art of nudging) are what marks a good player from some guy who plays pinball. It also marks the switch from "that was cool" to "pinball is freaking awesome!"

I have no skills. Only luck

Paying for and carrying. I'm good at that.

Smack talk. Keep the kids thinking I will always beat them...

Bounce and cradle a lot. Live catch depending on ball speed and game. Some are easier than others. I now like that inlane post trap or whatever you call it that Bowen does on AC/DC.
I can never get a tip pass to work right.

    I've mastered flailing.

Oh yeah, the post pass. That is what I call it when I miss a shot.

I catch a lot on my whirlwind and rbion, space jam I don't need to so much. Have to use passes up into the bottom of the slingshot plastic to switch flippers a lot too. I don't do anything special though I'm pretty bad. I need to nudge more I'm getting better nudging on the outlanes and to get targets (extra ball drop target on ww can be nudged into from the bumpers and the jewel lanes on RBION need nudging) but I still forget I can nudge on SDM's. I need an EM to work on my nudging more

Shatzing on BSD is my show off move but don't do it with money on the line. Do all the standard stuff.

    drop catches,post passes,and slap saves

    #13 6 years ago

Working on slap saves now, pretty good at drop catching n post passes.

    #14 6 years ago

Basic nudging around the outlanes to keep the ball in play.

Slap save, bounce pass, tip pass. Post pass, very rarely.

Live catch, drop catch, post catch. Bounce pass, post pass, tip pass, tap pass, alley pass, ramp pass, loop pass (not in a competition game). Slide save, slap save, death save. And my motto is ABN, Always Be Nudging. I'm definitely a control player. My recovery skills are excellent, if my shooting (especially on the fly shooting) ever catches up I will be a really good player. Also need to improve my trap multiball game. I think the only "pin skill" I don't use at all are bang backs.

    i use all the tricks!
including that trick with the tilt bob that let you do a heavy nudge once per ball

    I've mastered flailing.

lol! Every time I flail my kids yell the word at the top of their lungs....."Daddy Flailed!"

My best pin-skill: convincing my wife to try it. Now she loves playing.

    #19 6 years ago

I rely on my cat-like reflexes.

    #20 6 years ago

    Cursing. Lots of that.

    #21 6 years ago

    Trapping is CRUCIAL!!!!!

    #22 6 years ago

I practice all of them but only good at live play and live catches. The rest is just to inconsistent to consider them *skills*
