Had the pleasure of playing in the inaugural Bat City Pinball Tournament at Pinballz in Austin, TX yesterday. Played a handful of games and met some great people will playing. I will admit that I am not a good player and watching some of the others in the tournament was an eye opener.

I was fortunate or should I say unfortunate to play Stern’s early 2000’s Playboy. Sven Johnson (one of the tournament organizers) was happy to beat me to a bloody pulp in a best of three games match. Let’s just say that with the exception of the first ball Sven had in the first game, he easily beat my entire game score in one ball thereafter. It was still nice to watch someone hit the shots and watch the progress, and I think he felt bad beating me so bad. Either way, the tournament was a lot of fun.

That being said, Playboy is extremely cheesy and I believe I will never play it again unless it is drawn in a future tournament. Call outs are terrible and didn’t seem to flow with the game play, IMO.

This brings me to my question, what pin is cheesy to you?

Baywatch

But I love it

& miss it too

#3 10 years ago

Funny you should say that....its was on the left of the Playboy....and on the right was WPT with the chicks and chips translite. All were in the back corner so not kiddo traffic.

Gottlieb Touchdown. Head is super shallow and machine seems to weigh about 1/2 of what some other machine do. Cheap look and feel - thankfully they only made a couple with this style cabinet but all Gottlieb Premiers seem cheaply made to me.

Should I change to Cheesiest pin IYO?

#8 10 years ago

I always thought Rollergames was a very cheesy theme, but the machine itself plays solid and is a heck of a lot of fun.

#9 10 years ago

Raven and Bad Girls!!!

#10 10 years ago

I second Baywatch, but don't really miss it. It was a pretty cool machine, tons of ramps, but just couldn't get past the bad music. Oh, and the multiball was too easy to get, and could actually mess up other goals.

Not too often you see camel toe on a pinball machine...cheesy!

Rachel looks pretty good to me. Bally's cross marketing at it's best. She was also a Bally's Health & Tennis Clubs spokesmodel. Along with Sheena Easton and Heather Locklear. Cher too, but you can have her.

#20 10 years ago

Monster Bash and Tales from the Crypt. Can't stand them.

#21 10 years ago

I see what you did there.

#22 10 years ago

Pool Sharks, Torpedo Alley and Monopoly. Possibly Elvis too...

#23 10 years ago

I'm going to throw Sega's Cut the Cheese game out there. Yeah, it was a redemption game, but it had the guts of a pinball in there. And my god did I hate that game.

#25 10 years ago

XMen. Thought it would be cooler than it was.

#26 10 years ago

Somebody already beat me to it, but Hardbody definitely. Genesis, Raven, Bad Girls...Gottlieb had a streak there for awhile.

#27 10 years ago

Future Spa, Hollywood Heat

#28 10 years ago

Rolling Stones. Mick Jagger stick figure screams "cheesy".

Agreed, played it this weekend, but forgot about it shortly after playing....not memorable

I've got a Rollergames. Totally cheesy late 80's/early 90's theme based on a short-lived TV show but it's all a part of the game's charm. It's like a snapshot of the pop culture of the time. Game's really fun too.

Cheesy and bad= Spring Break
Cheesy and fun= Heavy Metal Meltdown

Yesssss! The random machine gun noises make no sense.

Future spa and roller games are both insanely cheesy

#40 10 years ago

Is this supposed to be sexy? I like my women a little squishier

#41 10 years ago

The Getaway.

The song, the dmd animations, the foolish pointlessness of having to shift the lever...

#42 10 years ago

I agree Stern's Playboy is cheesy, but I liked that about the game. Same thing with Baywatch...I loved the cheese and playfield...hated the not 100% working skill shot design and not much on the rules. The sounds and DMD animations were cheesy fantastic.

I also think I would enjoy some Rollergames cheese. Especially the theme song.

Only thing I don't like about HS2.

It's a shotgun I believe. It seems to be a strange choice, but I wouldn't consider a kickout noise as being random.

#45 10 years ago

My pick would definitely be Class of 1812. I'm all about monsters, even when in good fun such as Monster Bash, but they just made all the characters and artwork just too cheesy for me to consider purchasing this game. And that's a shame too, because it's insanely fun.

#46 10 years ago

Raven by far, and couldn't wait to end the game. 2nd place is Maverick, felt the same way.

#47 10 years ago

Bally's Game Show call outs are very cheesy, as is the game play.

#48 10 years ago

I was thinking World Poker Tour, then I saw this ^^^

At least you were nice enough to finish the game....many people just walk away!

I'm blown away by these two comments, wow.
