    Said to me today:

“Yeah, I have a pinball machine. The only thing that broke on it was those rubber rings, but I just replaced them with elastic bands and it works great.”

“Wait, what do you mean, you wax your game?”

“Why would you ever replace the balls? They are metal.”

“The paddles stopped working, so we stopped playing it.”

    #3 5 years ago

Did you change the batteries. " it takes batteries I didn't know."

    #4 5 years ago

I've never had the glass off.

Batteries?! It plugs in the wall!

It stopped working. We haven't played it since.

I know what it's worth. I saw one on ebay.

    It's perfect. (it's not)

    It works great. (it doesn't.)

    Can you fix it?

    “Hmm....keys?”

    #6 5 years ago

Went to go look at a machine a few weeks ago and it was sitting in a garage which made it about half frozen.. "Well you got the key so I can open it?" "Umm I don't think we got a key with it"

Fuckin burns me everytime. I don't even want to bother looking anymore.

Conversation with a Bar owner that has a LW3 in his bar a month ago:
-(me): “The plunger needs to be replaced, because the bell has broken off. It will take 6-7 days for the part to arrive and shipping+price is ~20€. I will also install a new solenoid”
-(bar owner): “Couldn’t you just glue it back on? I’d prefer not to wait a week... Maybe I should have my guy bring me another pin if you can’t glue it back on”

...He still has the machine in his shop broken. People put coins but the ball never launches!

    #8 5 years ago

    I seen it on eBay.

Them: O we have a pinball machine!

    You: Cool, what machine?

    Them: uhhhh?...

    #10 5 years ago

«The game stopped working, it only needs some lubrication to get it working”

    #11 5 years ago

I have a (insert game name) how much is it worth??

    #12 5 years ago

It's not working, but I have a buddy who's an electrician.
He looked at it and says it needs to be re-wired.

    #13 5 years ago

Definitely dealt with the "What keys?" or "What batteries?" scenario when looking at a game.

I've also heard "You mean the glass comes OFF?" as I proceed to look under the playfield. That is usually second to their amazement when I remove the backglass. . . "Look at all that stuff in there!" Not sure what they were expecting to see. . . a hamster in a wheel?

    #14 5 years ago

    It's probably just a fuse.

    #15 5 years ago

    Just needs some wd40

    #16 5 years ago

    "I paid MSRP"

    ...oh wait, that was me.

    #17 5 years ago

    Plays once - "It's boring"

    #18 5 years ago
    Quoted from Coolpinballdino:

Did you change the batteries. " it takes batteries I didn't know."

This, on every home service call lately.

    #19 5 years ago

"I was thinking maybe I should paint it all over with hammerite paint... to look more metallic"

    #20 5 years ago

it just needs some new bumpers

just needs some contact cleaner spray

    #21 5 years ago

“It was working when I put it in the warehouse.”

    #22 5 years ago

How to sell a game when you know nothing:

    - take a pic through the open coin door
    - take a close-up pic of the Bally logo
    - copy and paste game data from IPDB
    - state that it used to work but its probably an easy fix

    #23 5 years ago

The angry retort “this one doesn’t take batteries it plugs in the wall, I have other buyers who know that”

And of course “it worked when we put it away, maybe 10 years ago? It worked then so it’s not broken.” Tried explaining the kind of work an EM thats been sitting for a decade needs and they think I’m lowballing them. Yet they refuse to plug it in and see for themselves

    #24 5 years ago

I plugged it in and it lights up. Must be something simple as it used to work a few years ago.

    #25 5 years ago

That sure is loud without the glass.

    #26 5 years ago

    "Its in Excellent Condition"

    #27 5 years ago

    Is it Y2K compatible?

    #28 5 years ago
    Quoted from NovaPin:

    Plays once - "It's boring"

Lol you just described my wife...

    #29 5 years ago

Oh it's heavy , bring 4 big guys to help lift .

Oh I didn't know the legs came off.

You mean you can fold the head down ( or take it off ) .

    #30 5 years ago

Immamaculate condition. Only 600 plays and the new owner will want to shop it themselves because it bonds you with the machine.

    #31 5 years ago

"I grew up with a pinball at my (grandpa's, uncle's, friend's) house. We played it constantly and loved it! I think they still have it.."
Really? What's the name of it?
"It had a girl on it. Space something..."
Give me their number, i'll probably buy it.

    #32 5 years ago

"I didn't know the head folded down" - Me 5 years ago after carrying down a set of stairs and trying to pick it up over a half wall with the head up.

    #33 5 years ago

Immaculate, only 600 plays in the last 12 years!

    **Legs not included

    #34 5 years ago

"Don't really know what these go for"
Me: sent links to other CL listings that had sold and got back crickets. I guess they had an idea of what they THOUGHT it should go for. I even put my price equal to the nicest one that had sold. They must have wanted eBay "prices".

    #35 5 years ago

    "Ohh, you fix games?"

Ya, Ill put you on the list.

    #36 5 years ago

"Addams Family pinball for sale. Super rare!!!"

    #37 5 years ago

Some lights don’t work, probably just a wiring issue. Doesn’t affect gameplay!

    #38 5 years ago

"full restore" - actually just changed a few rubbers / lamps

    #39 5 years ago

"The game won't start"..."I didn't know you needed credits"

    #40 5 years ago

    Probably just needs a fuse

    #41 5 years ago

"you really play these..... Over and over?"

    #42 5 years ago

"I didn't know there was a strategy or rules - I thought you just hit the ball around."

    #43 5 years ago

Did you really pay $65k for that?

    #44 5 years ago

One lady got angry when I took the glass off and looked under the playfield as she thought that was “breaking it” wouldn’t believe it’s supposed to do that

    #45 5 years ago

It's that rare Zizzle pinball table, hard to find!

    #46 5 years ago

“You can do more than one player?”
After showing my friends how to start with more players after noticing they were switching after a full game.

    #47 5 years ago

"Now that the grandkids have grown it just sits."

    #48 5 years ago

    “Keys?”

    #49 5 years ago

“Yeah, I have a vintage pinball in my home too! You think I should also sell it for 3k?”
...then you go to his place
...and then he shows you this:
