Quoted from Oneangrymo:

Would u guys sand the cabinet down, or just paint over the existing stuff?

WARNING! BEFORE YOU DO THIS IN YOUR HOUSE AROUND KIDS VERIFY IT IS NOT LEAD BASED PAINT! The machine is old enough for this to be an issue. You can get a simple test kit from a hardware store. You can still fix it up if it is lead based paint, but you will need to take precautions... especially if you have little ones around.

Wow man thanks for the update. I will be leaving it in the garage, and stripping it down and repainting there. I have a 7 month old who cant crawl yet, so I think I will be fine, and she doesnt go in garage anyways.

Oh yes, 100%. That will be a pretty dusty job. I do all sanding outdoors,
and blow off often (outdoors of course) with the air compressor..
If needed, I haven't yet found a better filler for wood than Bondo (with
small fiberglass strands)..

es, sanding down till smooth is the key. Prep work is very important..

And don't use Rustolieum 2X spray paint.

I suggest that you take the glass off, clean and wax the surface.
Clean the glass over the playfield and the glass on the back box.
Try to acquire a manual, assuming you didn't get one.
Check if any rubber needs replacement.
Check all light bulbs to see if any need replacement.
Verify all targets and rollovers work as they should and adjust as necessary (use a ball for the test).
Same thing in the back box, check light bulbs and such.
If the balls are rusty or worn out, get some new balls.
Have fun playing the machine.

Royal Flush Deluxe is a pretty fun game. Got to play it at ReplayFX last week.

Nice score!

Try sanding with 320 grit, it's a wet/dry prep paper, that way you can sand down safely to access if the original artwork is still nice, if it is , stop when you get the repaint removed, touch up as needed

try putting fresh scent dryer sheets for a clothes dryer inside the coin door & backbox & leave in there for a week or more that's what I do for smelly games
