Quoted from Cheddar:

Was genie the pin with all the dongs in it?

We used to call it Penie when we had them on route.

Quoted from ForceFlow:

Here's a bit of an unusual find. 1975 Allied Leisure Dyn 'O Mite.

It's the only pin with a black Ace Frehley on the backglass.

Cherish it.

Some of the best art I have ever seen on an EM, I have never seen that one before.

There never was a better pinball artist than Gordon Morison:

I used to love RainbowCop as a kid.

Quoted from Hazoff:

I'm out of lights so used up what was left, it won't be Rainbow Cop much longer.

Awwww, c'mon. You've got to keep it that way!

Quoted from Otaku:

Wired up a beautiful new set of outlets (seen on the pole) and I was good to go.

You did a good job bending the conduit !

My buddy Pike says the only game in his collection heavier than Genie is Hercules, and he has over 150 games.

Quoted from Slim64:

I'm curious how many are left

Nobody ever played it when I had one on route, so hopefully they all are still around in people's basements.

What was the deal?

Probably got it off a dead guy.

Quoted from SadSack:Ah, Silverball mania. The first (only?) pinball with simulated rear-entry sex on the BG

Quoted from NicoVolta:

Hahaha never noticed that little gem before. SILVERBUTT MANIA!

Even better, his girl has to stand there and watch him do it.

Quoted from Bugsy:

I need to first start with the boards. Pretty bad battery acid damage, but I have certainly seen worse. I'm thinking it should clean up with a little elbow grease, and of course vinegar.

Probably going to take something stronger than vinegar

Sno-Bowl is gel, so it will not run all over and really eats up that mess.

Quoted from FlippyD:

Sorry if this is slightly off-topic but: What does documented home use only really entail? All previous owners sign a sworn statement or something? I suppose when you know and trust the previous owner it's easy but selling across the country or globe I don't see how it's possible to 100% prove HUO.

HUO does not mean anything at all.

Even if someone has a receipt for the game, showing it was delivered to their home, that does not prove that they did not at some point put it in their uncle's bar for a few years.

#3382 7 years ago
Quoted from MinusWorlds:

First off condition is king. But to say HUO means nothing, well that's just wrong.
Documented means there is a paper trail that who you bought it from purchased it new. That coupled with inspection of the usual wear area, coin mechs, boards etc. give you a fairly good indication if it was indeed HUO. Course you can generally never tell for sure as a buyer.
As far as HUO in top condition, they command top dollar and get it. So to say HUO is meaningless is not accurate IMO.

So if I take a good condition game, put NOS coin mechs in the door, install a NOS coinbox, and print up a fake recept showing I bought it from A&S Amusements 30 years ago, you will give me top dollar?

What did PT Barnum say about suckers?

#3391 7 years ago
Quoted from MinusWorlds:

First off there's no proof PT actually ever said that but I digress...
I didn't say I would pay top dollar. I said people pay top dollar, and they do. But go ahead and argue that point. I'm not going to since I already know the answer. And I already said condition is king but go ahead and ignore that point too.

You can argue all you want, but if you are paying top dollar for any game because someone is telling you it's HUO, you are a fool.

Especially if it's a 90s or earlier game.

Back in the day, NO OPERATOR would ever sell a used game to the public, let alone a NIB one. Used games that could not be auctioned off to another op were simply taken to the dump. The thinking was "Hey, if people can play pinball at home, they will stop putting money in my games!".

Other than a few wealthy clients, the only people who I ever delivered NIB games to were pro athletes and pro musicians.
