My first pin! Rock, Rock!

Spent today cleaning 30 year’s worth of grime out, along with stripping off the trashed Mylar and laying down the replacement that came with it (paint is so easy to damage on this non-diamond playfield that I either needed to add fresh Mylar or clear coat). Prior owner bought new plastics, Mylar, flipper rebuilds, but then didn’t do any of the work.

I’ve got new rubber and bulbs coming, so I’ll do the plastic replacement then. Thankfully, all the plastic damage is on the stuff included in the CPR kit it came with, none of the impossible to find parts are damaged (Cliffys on the way to keep it that way, too).

Wish I had a tumbler, my hands are beat up from polishing the 1/4 mile of wire frames in this game

Added a RBION and a ‘47 Exhibit Mystery. The condition on the Mystery is crazy for being 74 yo… one tiny bubble on the back glass and one broken bumper, but no paint loss on the playfield and no flaking on the bg . Looking forward to getting the Mystery cleaned up and working, and seeing how the four period flippers were added (I love the history of a flipperless machine being upgraded to flippers back in the day).

Rare one today….. I’ll get some pics in the pre-war thread once I clear nearly a century of grime off. I can already tell this one will clean up spectacularly.

Cabinet repaint isn’t great, but the playfield and backglass make up for it. Oh, and it fits in a 2019 X1, if anyone needs to know what machines fit.

Hit up Kyleman if you’re looking for Maverick or Guns N' Roses (LE), I saw both while picking up this R&M and they are beautiful.

I took the measurements and thought it would work, but this was my first “real world” test… Yup, you can fit a 72” Escalera w/load leveling and big handle kits in a VW ID.4 with a wedge head (put the Escalera in part way, then Tetris in the body and fit the Escalera around it, then squeeze in the head):

1935 Jennings Flying Turf. This one was built in a modified Sportsman cabinet (they hid the payout chute behind a spring loaded panel), rather than the Flying Turf cabinet (seems to be original, not a later marriage, but I guess anything could have happened along the almost 90 yrs). This is the first double payout mech I’ve seen… pays nickels for scores and pays big tokens for “Turf Champ” hole (which is oddly labeled as just 100 points here, but says “Turf Champ” on later playfields).

My grail pin #1 for the day (picking up #2 with gracious help from daveyvandy tonight)

Purchased from a great Pinsider, but had to ship from CA to OH.

kruzman is already working on a Wade Krause playfield for me, which will be a work of art! (Current playfield is planked)
IMG_1473 (resized).jpegIMG_1473 (resized).jpeg

First time I’ve shipped a pin. I used Beltmann and thankfully it arrived without a scratch. They wrapped it in multiple blankets, shrink wrapped it and covered the legs and corners with corner boards, and the delivery crew even took away all the packing materials (I offered my trash can, but they insisted it was theirs to dispose of).

Here’s an easy to guess one:

IMG_1541 (resized).jpegIMG_1541 (resized).jpeg

FWIW, the back box doesn’t fit into the back of an iD.4, unless maybe if I’d put it in flat and then had someone tip it up while I wedged the cab in under it. I didn’t have a passenger, so I didn’t need to get too creative, just lay the passenger seat down and let the head ride there.
