Finally!!! Gave up my Judge Dredd for a HUO Indy 500 today. Dirty, so it needs some attention.

simplykind, I see you have an adjustment failure. Did someone pull the batteries? Sure hope there isn't any alkaline damage to the MPU. Congrats on your purchase.
Quoted from Pinterest:This is why you don't bring your wife to the pinball store. I wanted something manly... Guess that's out.

Dorothy, meet Johnny.
Quoted from Tickerguy:Picked up an Apollo 13 the other day; it has a few problems and was once on a route (maybe 10+ years ago) but has been sitting in a dude's house for a good long time with no attention of note. Amazingly it had ZERO leakage from the (still mounted!) battery holder despite my suspicion that the guy who owned it never used the key in the coin door! It's getting a NVRAM since it's a socketed chip on these and it's a 30-second job.
Playfield is in good shape and a half-day with it got it mildly cleaned, 3/4 relamped with LEDs and the mechanical issues fixed so it's fully playable. The moon and rocket both work after a bit of attention although someone at Stern needs to be attached to a tree; 4 flashers (2 in the rocket and 2 in the backbox on that channel) is 2 too many on the stock power board transistor and one channel is blown. Waiting on some TIP102s (I was out) to take care of that and bayonet-base LEDs to fix the dissipation issue "for good." This is a game that punishes you *very badly* for missed shots (usually with a SDTM) but it's growing on me rapidly (the kid loves it, including the frustration level it generates.)
It'll get the full strip-down, clean and rebuild flipper treatment soon once I have all the rubber parts I need -- I'm missing too many of them to want to tear it apart twice for a full cleaning, go-through and re-rubber treatment.
I'm a Bally/Williams sort of guy but this isn't a bad table at all...it has exceeded my expectations thus far.
I'm now officially out of room for additional pins unless I invade a second room.... which is kinda likely to happen
Time for you to get a ColorDMD for that A13.
http://shop.colordmd.com/colordmd-replacement-display-for-apollo-13-pinball-machine/
Quoted from SunMonkeyAZ:Picked up this guy the other day. The problem is that everyone here was right. I only have room for one pin but somehow I now have two. Pinbot will stay in the garage at least until I clean him up and get it ready before the heat comes but after that I'm gonna need a bigger house.
Things in the house can always be rearranged to fit a second game if you try hard enough. I have them in my 3 bedrooms as well, including the smaller 11x10 bedroom and it also has a bed in there too.
Quoted from ForceFlow:Picked up a Gameplan Sharpshooter II from a fellow pinsider this weekend.
No charge for the nest under the pop bumper
A headless Sharpshooter?
Quoted from Jodester:It is possessed by demons. I removed all the boards and cleaned up the connectors. Put it all back together and nothing. The blanking led stayed lit and no boot. ( 2 flashed from 20) Today I turned it on for shits and giggles and played 10 games on it with no issue. Maybe somebody could point me in the right direction as to how this could happen and how to cure it. Or I could bring in a priest...
Next time, try just unplugging the ribbon cables from the MPU to see if the MPU boots up correctly.
Quoted from Aladdin:Brought home a Bally Captain Fantastic Home version. It's practically new, just has some tape on the glass. Doesn't start a game, but the feature lights and flippers work.
Check for burnt male/female connectors on the power supply.
Quoted from Jenk540i:For years my wife has thought POTC would be fun. Grabbed this one today. My second Stern to balance the W/Bs.
2 drivers. 474 miles each way. Left 10PM last night and got back 3PM today on a holiday weekend. Tired but happy.
Is the wife happy? I hope she is. I enjoy mine still after 5 years.
Quoted from jawjaw:What are you getting?
who knows? i know an empty spot doesn't stay empty long
Quoted from Kronlar:My second grail followed me home tonight.
Needs a few minor things to spruce it up, but a nice solid example of this gem. Slingshot plastics, laser cannons, Colordmd...
Special thanks to pinballmaniac40 for sending me the CL link last night!
I'm glad you were able to grab it. I have no plans to give up mine!
Quoted from YeOldPinPlayer:Today's find - Earthshaker! Board corrosion, playfield inserts lifting. Lots of work ahead.
Congrats on your purchase. I would fix or replace that MPU and then just play the hell out of it. Get on the CPR list to get a new playfield, and swap it once you get one. http://classicplayfields.com/order.html
Quoted from Bud:A tight fit, but restoration pins anyway
Yo Taxi!! Did you just take an Uber?
Finally got this set up today after it being dropped off by a local Pinsider @creyes82. Some insert wear, cabinet looks pretty nice and plays well. May only be temporary as another local collector I know has been wanting one for over 4 years now. I'll enjoy it while I can. 20170112_172631 (resized).jpg20170112_172640 (resized).jpg20170112_172705 (resized).jpg20170112_172656 (resized).jpg
Quoted from dmbjunky:Anybody know what this is? I saw one on another forum and while checking CL last week for something else I found one for sale. It was a eight hour total drive but it's pretty awesome.
Congrats. You have a wrapped box.
Quoted from Pecos:I wasn't going to post this until I saw the operator's stamp on the bottom of the cabinet. Do you guys/gals want me to keep posting my pin pick-ups or are these same old, same old?
H.A. Franz is basically a distributor, who is still in business to this day in Houston. Cool find.
Quoted from Gerrard17:My first NIB experience, can't see me ever being able to afford it again though! Annnnnd it didn't take long for the mods to begin.
- Cliffy's all around
- Crosses
- Playfield protectors
- Captive ball Coffin/Skull
- Flipper toppers
- Mummy guitar
- Lots more left to install!!
Nice. ColorDMD is the next mod to get.
Quoted from Rensh:This followed me home last night. Drove faster as my own car
Nice Corvette. Your lower left GI is out. Time to check for a burnt J120, J121, or J115 connector.
Quoted from mtdouble:Delivered last week, purchased without playing it before, very fun and much faster that I thought.
Congrats. Seems pretty brave not tying down the backbox during transport.
Quoted from dirkdiggler:Congrats! How many tickets did you buy? I keep forgetting about the edu charity Crazy you can get a new pinball machine for as little as $40!
Thank you. That particular June raffle, I bought 2 tickets. $80 this round! Upgrading to the premium was $1900, which I was happy to hand out extra for it.
Quoted from Cinder143:Got it at a auction today. Not too bad of shape, needs some love.
And needs a ColorDMD. You are missing the trunk. I enjoy my game and happy to have for 6 years already.
Quoted from remf:Moved in JP last night and got it all dialed in today. I'm really digging it so far.
Looks like that JP could use a LED ColorDMD !!
Quoted from ChrisRAD:Almost 12hour round trip....great Scott. Best road trip partner though.
Did you drive at 88mph?
Quoted from ForceFlow:Nabbed a Stern POTC at an auction in the middle of nowhere. It's in really nice shape--it probably was never routed, so this is probably my first HUO pin.
The hammer price was very far below the going market price for these, and I was dumbfounded that I won it, so I pretty much drove home like I stole it, lol
You were born to be a pirate!!
Quoted from DavidPinballWizz:No... I'll give a hint... it's a sega.
In the wrong thread for this. Move on.
Quoted from Billc479:I'm amazed at the connection on the fire protection system! WTF?!? Nice Funhouse!
Everyone needs a manual release.
Quoted from Epistaxis:Brought this home two weeks ago. Not sure if I will keep the GI lighting the way it is. Still a great game.
Nice pickup. I hope you don't keep the GI that way since it distorts the playfield artwork. Whites all the way for me in the GI.
Quoted from weaverj:backbox, too.
Backbox is GI as well. All included in the hopes of dropping the colors.
Quoted from fish1975tx:Picked up Doctor Who this weekend from my good friend PinballManiac40! Been waiting a long time to get this game and wife and I have been playing it a lot.
Super glad you and the wife are enjoying it. And I still get to play it when I stop by. Woohoo!! So it is not out of my reach being just 20 minutes away from me.
With all the projects in my garage, this one fits nicely since it was missing 2 boards. Luckily over the past 5 years, I've been collecting spare boards from Ebay, some work, some don't. Time to get it working and collect some junk!!
Thanks to fish1975tx for helping me pick it up, due to my lack of owning a truck. I hope you are really enjoying that Dr. Who from me. Woohoo!!!
Edit: installed a couple of boards out of another game to test out the game.
20180217_004813 (resized).jpg
Quoted from TractorDoc:(That is not me playing!).
So then you are the young kid standing next to the game? Nice game!!
Quoted from mmuglia:I brought home a HUO IronMan today to complete my super hero row.
Complete super hero row, you say. I must ask where is Batman Forever, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Batman 66?
Nice current collection that is.
Quoted from mmuglia:Complete "my" super hero row...as in the super hero games I want to own. Wasn't claiming to own all the super hero pins.
Just messing with you, bro. What happens if Deadpool gets released? I hope there is a Superman pin in our future.
Quoted from guss:Bud delivered it and seat it up. Bud is a really nice guy. Would deal with him any time. His pinside name Budwin. These are picture at his house I didn't take any pictures yet.
Full color ROM is available from ColorDMD for that good looking GoT.
Quoted from Strummy:I couldn't resist.
Could not resist because of the GI colors that were chosen?
Quoted from dudah:Rescued this guy today. It's been sitting in storage for at least 12 years. A few cosmetic issues but seems to work 100% and should clean up very nice!
Did it have only 600 plays before being stored for 12 years with the batteries installed that did not leak?
Quoted from jaytrem:Wow, you sure got lucky with the batteries. I picked up a similar RCT last year, but the damage was done. Didn't cost too much for the board repair though, so ended up being a nice deal.
One word...NVRAM
Congrats on your purchase. ColorDMD will look sweet in that game.
Quoted from New_England:So happy to have received this beautiful machine today!
This marks number one in the collection. What do you all think?
Nice pickup. Though, I think you need a LCD ColorDMD and LEDs in that order.
Quoted from Bud:Not a pin, but coin op and definitely cool and clean!
[quoted image]
Sweet looking music machine you have there.
Quoted from dudah:Found a perfect HUO TSPP! Minus the cupholders
[quoted image]
Congrats. Though, I think it is in serious need of a ColorDMD.
Quoted from Pinkitten:Update on two pins added this weekend, LOTR and POTC. Finally unloaded and set up yesterday, thanks, Adam! So excited to get a few mods and upgrades on these two. Can’t believe the clean condition of both.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
Congrats. Buy 3 ColorDMD and get free USA shipping. Just sayin'.
Quoted from AntennaMan:Help me.
[quoted image]
As an owner of 38 pins, I will offer this advice....Embrace your addiction.
Quoted from Puffdanny:TWIP deal of the week
[quoted image]
Xmen Magneto is neato.
Quoted from woody76:I got this beauty incoming. You don't get to see many sanctums like this.[quoted image]
I bet your sanctum feels smooth and clean.
Quoted from Nikrox2:I was extremely worried about the batteries. Does this look like the factory install? No way these batteries could have lasted that long ?[quoted image]
Yes. Alkalines were made much better back then. NVRAM for today's win.
Quoted from Daditude:Boom![quoted image]
Boom? I see you got wood, but that's it.
Quoted from Colsond3:Sometimes it really can just be a fuse. Congrats on the game.
4 hours away at 2nd cousin's wedding yesterday, my oldest brother tells me of an older SS pin at an Antique store that he found early that morning. We left the reception a bit early to check it out. It was labeled with '$250 firm' but walked out with it for $50 plus $4.20 in local sales tax.
MPU board has battery corrosion, especially around the ground plane and currently it does not boot. I'm going to start with sanding the corrosion, replace damaged parts, and fixing damaged traces to see if I can revive this board. The front cabinet has some 'water' damage, but I have no doubt I can find another good used donor cabinet. The backglass has very few minor scratches and the playfield is decent for its age.

Quoted from PantherCityPins:This thread is about being excited about your new machine, no matter how many were produced.
Or how ever many times the title changed hands between one another.
Quoted from kciaccio:Let us know what you think after playing...
He did. BTW...one will be in the Titan Pinball's booth at the Houston Expo.
Quoted from Dallas_Pin:Amazing game!
Quoted from Spyderturbo007:Grabbed this earlier today. It has a battery U3 / U6 error, but I think it’s just because the batteries are shot.[quoted image]
Nice grab. I enjoyed working on the one my friend has. It is a single lithium coin cell battery and they do leak. NVRAM for Gottlieb system 3 for the win. 124 Years of memory retention!
Quoted from rai:[quoted image]SW premium comic.
Art looks better in person.
Cabinet is solid and clear looks good no pooling.
[quoted image].[quoted image][quoted image]
Very nice artwork. How about the other side? I can't find official pictures showing that other side either.
Quoted from mbrave77:Ty sir. Now to ponder what works well with them. Right now houdini intrigues me the most.
They do look great. What works well beside them is the game you like playing the most, regardless what others think of it.
Quoted from Eric_S:I just picked up a Williams Time Fantasy locally, about 8 miles from my home. A couple had it for 20+ years in their basement. It works, needs a skip job and some minor repair work.[quoted image]
Nice pickup!! I can't wait to hear what is involved in doing a skip job.
Quoted from Captainhook:No new machine. But I did get my topper for my Black Knight SOR. It takes the game over the top.[quoted image]
Best topper ever made to this point.
Quoted from Backyardace:I just unplugged and replugged in the connectors for the DMD and that solved it.
Just make sure to do this with the game off.
Quoted from Backyardace:Yes, definitely.
I failed to mention that once before in a repair thread, and other issues popped up for that OP to fix. Now, I'm trying to make it a habit of added that in with my "reseat ribbon cables/connectors" statement.
Quoted from Jasenwm:Guess what I just picked up
[quoted image]
You picked up a tasty hot dog?
Quoted from dirkdiggler:Didn't think I'd be posting anything here for a while but here I am. Picked this up for a friend yesterday and he's letting it keep fishtales company for a bit. Never played this game before so that's a bonus. Even has the goodie bag still attached.
Huge shout out and thanks to jesperpark for making this happen. I feel blessed to have friends like you and ranchero[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
BMTDK deserves a ColorDMD before it moves to the owner!!!
Quoted from RobDutch:Just got this home to repair for a friend, lots wrong with it so it will be here for a while
[quoted image]
Talk him into getting a LED ColorDMD delivered to your house so you can install it for him.
Quoted from jesperpark:I'm already sending him leds for it. I was going to wait and install the color dmd and shaker motor myself. But hey if he wants to do the hard work for me
Very nice! Good purchases. It is going to be great for you get the machine back and hopefully just enjoy it. I saw he posted some of the issues in the JP thread. I look forward to lending some advice on it.
Quoted from northerndude:Super cool looking pin, congrats. I’m unknowing enough, haven’t heard of Riot
www.riotpinball.com
Quoted from Mikespinball:Just did a four hour around trip to pick up my first free pinball machine. Can't go wrong at that price! The seller/giver-a-way said I saved it for going to the dump.
The main issue is a cracked/broken back glass that the movers did. Anyone know if they make replacements and if so where to buy.
Let me know.....Thanks Mike
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
E6000 adhesive will glue it back and be strong. I glued 2 zacarria backglasses for a friend and they had been been holding together for 3 years now.
https://www.amazon.com/E6000-237032-Craft-Adhesive-Clear/dp/B004BPHQWU
Quoted from play_pinball:You can also get them from Coos, who I think can recreate the mirroring that bgresto cannot: http://www.coos.net/bingo_e/backglasses.html
A friend has several Zacarria games, and I don't recall any of them have any mirrored backglasses.
Farfalla, Time Machine and Magic Castle have neon behind the backglass artwork, so mirroring would not be useful having in the artwork.
Quoted from newovad:My new game and everyone’s favorite gas station. That’s right. Full service from the Kurb.
[quoted image][quoted image]
Never heard of that gas station down here in the south, so it is not exactly everyone's favorite.
Congrats on the game.
Quoted from gdonovan:boots up but stuck in slam tilt mode
Quoted from newtoit:Picked up a Williams Cosmic Gunfight yesterday. Debating on whether to do a restore or just shop it out.
Congrats! Time to go all out on a restore!
Quoted from Gornkleschnitzer:Hey, this isn't a pinball machine...
[quoted image]
...yet.
Congrats. I see you got wood. Looks like big wood.
Edit....That's what she said.
Quoted from gdonovan:That goes for me as well. Someone showed me the factory manual for one of the newer games, Lord of the Rings perhaps? And stated it took 45 minutes just to go through the rule section!
No thanks, not my style. I find a 5 to 10 minute long game about perfect with 20 minutes on the outside my limit. If it goes that long I start making the game rules progressively harder.
In other news since I have to be manager on duty today... work printer goes "brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr"
[quoted image]
Nice pickup. I see though that you put WPC legs onto the DE Star Trek. Sorry, just my OCD nocticed that.
Quoted from daveyvandy:Yabba dabba doo!
[quoted image][quoted image]
There's a ColorDMD for that.
Quoted from Coindork:You could have really stepped it up a notch and put on some Bat Man Underoos.
Don't tempt him to show us!!
Quoted from Jahkub:Not one I'd seen before.
[quoted image]
Congrats. System 80B. You are missing a left upper flipper bat above the left slingshot, which is now marked off like a dead body. I'm actually in the process of repairing one for a local Pinsider.
Quoted from DCRand:They just keep following me home. My wife is talking about doing an intervention.
[quoted image][quoted image]
Tell her that an intervention is not needed until you get 25 pins.
Quoted from jawjaw:Had opportunity to get JP2 pro earlier this week from friend. I've been wanting one so couldn't pass it up. Thanks, Jim! What a great pin.
[quoted image]
Congrats! 6 fits perfectly in that row.
Quoted from Vino:Entered the jungle this week..
[quoted image][quoted image]
Parental guidance suggested. Do you have it on family mode?
3.5 hours each way to get my 6th Superpin in my 2016 Ford Edge. Thank you Captive_Ball for the ride along. Just waiting for the rain to stop to unload it. Might be tomorrow or Sunday, not sure yet.20201127_131816 (resized).jpg20201127_141807 (resized).jpg20201127_141750 (resized).jpg
Quoted from Liftserv:Great pick up, did you make those handles?
Quoted from Coindork:I would also be interested in acquiring a set of said handles.
Quoted from Pinkitten:Seriously, I would love a pair of those too.
A local collector made these "pin moving handles" for me after I had repaired his TAF and TZ for reset issues. He doesn't seem interested in making more really since me had cut and welded every piece himself.
Quoted from cottonm4:I think you could take a pair of old legs to the weld shop and have a pair made up. Those look real handy.
I mentioned to him that I have some older legs he can cut up to see if it speeds up his process. Maybe something will come out of that.
Quoted from Manny65:I've not played an Independence Day, are they any good?
I rank it up there with X-Files game play.
Quoted from Kkoss24:Off topic but is anyone else having trouble viewing pins on marketplace .Every one says “oops cannot be found “
No issue on my android phone.
Quoted from Spyderturbo007:I picked up a Prospector yesterday. She needs some work, but the playfield and backglass are in excellent condition. [quoted image][quoted image]
Very impressive condition. Congrats!!
Quoted from RonSS:4 hour round trip in a thunderstorm. Worth every penny, and hour.[quoted image][quoted image]
Congrats. I see a burnt J6 interconnect board connector replacement in your future due to the left GI being out.
Quoted from RonSS:Good to know. I only booted it up last night to try a single game. It sure looked dark! You just saved me some time. Much appreciated!
Just one possibility. Cool or Sunlight white LEDs in the GI really will brighten up that game.
Quoted from SadSack:450 miles round trip, 14 miles of mountain dirt, 2 machines that need a complete going through! What could be better?
Drinking a cold one
Quoted from Mikespinball:Just picked this up at an estate sale today. Great deal and less than 5 minutes away from home.
Nice pickup! Refresh that playfield with a Hardtop! http://www.outsideedgeproducts.com/store/p75/Pinball_Playfield_Hardtop.html
Quoted from bluespin:Comet has a Black Friday sale every November. Figure out what you want now and place your order on Black Friday.
Only a select items are on sale, not the whole website.
Quoted from fabsj82:Deals are still hiding out there. Looks way worse than it is, should clean up nice.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
Perfect time to make that playfield look really special with a new Hardtop!!
http://www.outsideedgeproducts.com/store/p75/Pinball_Playfield_Hardtop.html
Quoted from Zartan:Have you seen one installed yet?
Yes, local collector, husband/wife, had installed one on 2 Flash Gordon's, their Frontier and a High Speed so far. They look great. Looks factory fresh after being done.
Quoted from Zartan:That would be great for my bow and arrow!
I think that will be a while before they start into EM pins.
Quoted from Captive_Ball:Brought this one home tonight
[quoted image]
Dammit, Jim. Great purchase! I look forward to playing it on my next tech call.
image0000001(2).gifQuoted from cconway84:Had to trek through the snow to get it. And shovel a path to bring it inside. But it’s a Dialed In CE.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
That DICE sure is nice.
Quoted from dirkdiggler:Here's a shot of the battery area in the Hs2 I recently acquired. Newer batteries also.
Looks like you have previous battery damage from before the newer batteries were installed. I can see green stuff growing on some of the resistors, white corrosion on the bottom right battery contact, U16 and U20 have some damaged pins, and a chance there is some on your pins of J212.
pasted_image (resized).pngQuoted from Canuck_pinhead:Is that a hardtop? Or a new playfield?
Hardtop is not available for Bad Cats, yet.
Quoted from play_pinball:Hey ssbodyman it's not a horror theme but I'll raise you this one that I just picked up this morning![quoted image][quoted image]
That is easy!! Technoplay X Force
https://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=3539
Originally bought this last couple days of Dec 2018. My friend picked it up and over the next year had shopped it out when he had a chance and fixed some issues on the playfield. It had a very badly battery damaged MPU board but I happened to find a much lesser damaged board that I had repaired. From there, I brought I home for a couple weeks to repair a couple of issues that developed a week before I brought it home.
From my house, it went to the Houston Arcade Expo in Nov 2021. It played as good as one could have hoped for such a long weekend of play.
After the show ended, a local Pinside friend traded back a game he borrowed and ended up taking to the show and took Fire home with him. Nice to be able to temporary swaps now and then.
Now time to do a few things and enjoy this game.

Quoted from transprtr4u:What is that pirate themed game beside you new Fire pin ?
Quoted from Ballderdash:Deep blue rage? Tell and show us more!
All you have to do is look at the forum posts that he started.

Quoted from greeneye:Picked this up recently. Great game
[quoted image]
Arcade games have no balls. Therefore, not as interesting.
Quoted from Rod_Munch:Planning for 4 pins, but everyone tells me it never ends...
I planned for 1 in 2008, now I have only 40. I am trying to knock it down to 30 in a couple of years.
Quoted from CTHOMAS1998:Brought this Creature home today! Thank you PinballManiac40 for all the help you have given us!
[quoted image][quoted image]
Very welcome.
Thank you jkdblaze for the heads up on your pre-sale of the game.
Quoted from jazc4:Barn find Capt Fantastic. Super rough shape. We’ll see if I can restore it to players condition.
Hardtop is available so that can take it well beyond player's condition.
Quoted from GregCon:Those handles were PinballManiac's idea that I made. They are not made from legs that are cut up....they are made of chome-moly tubing welded to steel angle. I made a batch of them but they've all been sold. You can make 'cheap' version pretty easily....but if they break and you drop a game....
[quoted image]
These are just awesome. I would not had bought an SUV if you did not make these for me. It is the only way I can get leverage on the front of a game to get it over the folded back seats.
Quoted from geeteoh:Supersonic
Congrats. Seems a Hardtop is coming out soon for it.
