blockquote cite="#5106827">LIONMAN!!!
Nice score.
Also just an update, this is gotta be one of the top 10 worst feelings when doing a blind pickup. I opened up space invaders and saw this:
[quoted image]
All of the boards are gone. Sad...
The blacklight, marquee and monitor all seem to work, so I guess I’m gonna have to put out an ad for a Space Invaders boardset... I’m not an arcade guy so I don’t know anything about them either. Wish me luck

I would put a raspberry pi multicade setup in there for about $75 for the time being or find a cheap board on eBay with a few hundred games on it. At least you will get some use out of it until you find the board you are looking for. It will probably have space invaders already on it. Game specific boards can be pricey

Quoted from Toyguy:

Brought this one home weekend before last. Had to transport it on its side as that was the only way it would fit through the hatch of my RAV4. It didn’t seem to like that much . She had a number of problems it didn’t have before. All is well now though.
[quoted image]

How many variations of these arcade style pins were made? I only know of one other which is Spooksville
Bally made Hi-Fi which also has a shaker but it isn’t a stand up.

Quoted from MikeO:

Just picked up this Atlantis yesterday. While hard to believe, no, it wasn't in a fire.
Unfortunately, no, it isn't washing off either. Story is the previous owner was a really big smoker.[quoted image]

Wow that’s dirty. What did you use to try and clean it?

#12856 4 years ago

I’ve used a ME and mean green. I’ve also used a ME with isopropyl alcohol and I’ve had good luck. It takes a lot of elbow grease and you have to do it a bunch of times. If all else fails try sanding it. ME is just a very fine sanding sponge so it wouldn’t hurt to try something a little more course. It would save time and you wouldn’t kill yourself trying to clean it.

#12859 4 years ago
Quoted from Toyguy:

Spooksville is the only other one I know of in this form factor. This Sea Hunt has been cleverly modified to work as a Free Ball machine. Specials disable the ball count in some way when you drain, so you get the same ball number to play again. Interesting but once I figure out what was done I’ll likely put it back to stock if I can do so easily.

Well if you ever decide to part with it let me know.

Quoted from o-din:

I find the running man unit in my 4 Bagger and the mechanical backbox clock that interacts with gameplay and scoring in my Beat The Clock pretty charming.
And even the mechanical baseball players in 1948's Williams Yanks backbox, the first flipper pinball game I know of to have any mechanical backbox animation, pretty charming to.

The louder the better because it can really annoy my kids . All kidding aside I really do enjoy the mechanical back box animations. They add a lot to the game. But the two I have left are super loud. My Williams Line Drive was ridiculous. It sounded like an air raid. Especially in the room I had it in.

#13346 4 years ago
Quoted from AlexF:

It's very dirty but I think it's going to clean up nicely. The backglass looks pretty good too upon first inspection. The worst part is that big chunk out of the corner of the front of the cabinet.

That doesn’t sound too bad. I just did an arcade cabinet that needed a lot of repair. It was fairly easy.

Picked up this nice Spirit of 76 at an estate sale this morning (thanks for posting it Murphdom). Making some progress, got all the GI working, and it sounds like it wants to start a game, but not quite.
You also get a nice Lake Tahoe pic, since I can't figure out how to delete it.[quoted image][quoted image]

That’s nicer than I originally thought. The estate sale pictures made it difficult to tell. Well worth the $.

Tap on pictures to delete them from a phone. An X box should come up. If not, it may require two taps

Quoted from Ballypin:

So, after sitting around today and seeing nothing on the horizon, I check the local FB ads and see a local project for $ 100 that was up for less than an hour. I immediately respond but some jive turkey saw it first. Not wanting to strike out, and with little time to spare, I offered a little bit more and got the address. Perfect backglass, very little wear, nice cabinet and for less than the title of the game.

Great grab. The balls clunking down after the bonus is the best.

Here you go, posted today!
Asteroid Annie and The Aliens, 1980 Gottlieb: 1700
The game is sold in as-is condition, backglass in good condition, cabinet is fair, head needs work in below average condition, playfield in decent condition, game has not been tested, does not start, all components are in the game but maybe some connectors loose, some wires loose or severed. Not really sure what is wrong with it, needs a tech to go over it to have it working.

May not be pins but today was a good day. The Sonar I grabbed at request of a fellow pinsider, and while I was making the run I snagged two more. Not sure yet which one I’ll keep and which I’ll sell.[quoted image]

Nice score. The Apollo Moonshot is always a big hit at my house when people are over and my wife even said she would prefer that we keep it. Which says a lot because she could care less what I do with my stuff.

Quoted from VALIS666:

Hit the double digits today with my tenth. Kinda doesn't seem right next to Beatles, but I have a Maiden coming next month that Metallica can be metal neighbors with.
[quoted image]

I reached my “limit” today by filling a room according to my wife. She pretends she cares even though the multicade ended up in another room There’s always room for more. Realistically I just need to swap everything over to the bigger room and then she will pretend to be mad when I bring another one home.

#14104 4 years ago
Quoted from VALIS666:

What multicade do you have, home built or what brand if purchased? I used to have one 20 years ago, was thinking of buying or building another.

I gutted an old Stern “1942” cabinet. I kept with the theme and repainted the wood cabinet and added webbing and some decals that were never there. It’s Raspberry Pi based and has thousands of games. I actually haven’t even programmed the joysticks yet because I’ve been sidetracked lately with lots of things. But that was my plan for today. No more excuses.

My Gottlieb Drop-a-Card arrived. One of Bob Cunningham’s workers dropped it off. It was a Craigslist’s find a few months back. Some guy inherited it after his father who was an electrical engineer passed away. It is an excellent original example and is very clean and responsive. The backglass is a 9/10 with no fading or flaking, cabinet probably an 8/9 because of only one decent sized scratch, and the playfield is a 9 with no planking or wear other than one pencil sized dot of paint missing on the middle of the playfield. Pictures to follow. I got a little over zealous and stripped the playfield right away otherwise I would have posted some.

I vote Raspberry Pi multicade. I built one. Buy some new Happ joysticks and buttons with a USB encoder from EBay and a Rasberry Pi. My SD card for the Pi has Retropie installed with over 6000 games from Etsy. You could convert that whole thing cheap.
Rough estimate :
Happ joysticks with buttons $60-ebay
Raspberry Pi 3 or 3B+ $80 ?
SD card with games installed $20-Etsy
You would have to install either a TV or arcade monitor with an HDMI setup on it though as well and that’s about $175 new on eBay. But find a used TV on Craigslist.

It was a two pin kind of weekend with no York show. I was on my way back from my second trip after a two and half hour drive and was almost home when I was rear ended and pushed into a truck in front of me that had its rear bumper made out of a steel I-beam. The truck was lifted so I went under it. It was then nice enough to take off.

Thanks! My 13 year old co-pilot and I came out unscathed and so did the pin. I had to go to the tow yard the next day and get the game out the back. I brought it home and set it up and it fired right up. It just needs a good shop job. I’m shocked it fit into my wife’s Subaru Crosstrek when I went to go pick it up from the tow yard. It looks like I may be on the hunt for a new pin hauler.

Depends where you live - i got rear ended by an old lady with a dog on the passenger seat in a GMC Yukon, they didnt even give her a ticket. The officers discretion - they started chatting, lived in the same town, long story short, no ticket.

For what reason would she get a ticket? Following too close? Maybe? If that’s even a thing where you live. But that’s a stretch. The driver would have to been intentionally riding your tail. We were in heavy traffic and it was just unfortunate.

Not a pin but working and FREE Thanks to a fellow Pinsiders heads up and it was just the next town over. Nice grab Chris! Cheap is good, free is better!

It was interesting getting it in the finished basement. I had to take it apart in three and separate the coin door base from the alley. I was hoping I could have left it in two but it couldn’t make the swing. We then slid the alley through a window. After getting the cabinet downstairs we realized it was too wide for the door by a couple inches. In order to fit it I had to take the decorative trim around the head to slide it in. I probably should have taken measurements . I really didn’t want to move it back out

Picked up this oddball today. Should clean up okay. Has cabinet damage in a few spots on one side. There is light rust throughout the apron which should come off easy. There is some rust around the instruction card holders I’m concerned about. I need to figure out the best way to get it off since it’s in a weird place and I don’t want to damage the metal around them. Suggestions welcome.

He died less than a year later, and some covid-Pinballer with more money than brains bought all of them to “fix”
So he spent several months trying to make a Mini Pool (AAB) head fit onto a Target Pool (Replay) body.
Obviously doesn’t work, but can’t help those types!
I’m very grateful for Murphdom negotiating for this mismatched pair! Love Mini Pool and I’m so thrilled I can play my own.

Quoted from RonSS:

I love lower pops. Nice grab!

Can’t beat it when you leave after breakfast and you’re home before lunch. I like those kind of pick ups.

Quoted from shacklersrevenge:

Pulled these out of Long Island today. Bulks loads are still out there.

Why are there so many pins on Long Island? It doesn’t make sense. A fairly large operator must been out there at some point and sold everything off.

Quoted from jrpinball:

Were you able to determine if the body and head were originally from the same machine?

More importantly…what happened to your username. The old one was better
