It probably belongs in the horror pics thread.

I got it from a salvager type guy. He had gotten it in a load he had picked up. The back box was severely water damaged and crumbled on him. I picked up what pieces I could find from his field/yard.

But my goal was to find usable pops, slings, drops, and flipper mechs plus some other repurposable components. While I wish it wasn't an actually good game that died to provide that, for 25 bucks the price was right and it will serve well in its final mission. At least some part of it will live on in some form.

The shuttle is likely going on my desk at work next to my other pinball bits (unless the kids want to incorporate it in their design).

Quoted from bicyclenut:

Awesome pick up! Did you know someone selling because I didn't see it on CL. My son was trying to talk me into buy the one for sale at PAGG. Hope your project works out.

I snagged it through a wanted ad. He had actually called around to several other "pinball wanted" ads but none were interested so he was ready to toss it. Explained that those guys are not really looking for truely broken machines but rather mostly only looking for quick flips they can making a killing on whereas I was actually looking for a parts machine specifically.

Anyway he was a pretty awesome dude and a collector himself, but of train stuff.

This afternoon I'll actually open the game up and see how bad it actually is. I'm certainly not hopeful that it would be restorable.

Nice High hand. Mine was trashed. Built a new cabinet for it, still on the lookout for a new play field.

Got this about 2 months ago for $200.

Nice! Was super tempted to buy one of those tonight but I just couldn't pull the trigger on it. Would have been using it for parts for the labs next project but since the space shuttle project is running I would have had to store it and I have my own project pins... sigh...

At least I can honestly tell my wife someday that I actually didn't buy something.

Awesome find ericpinballfan , looks really interesting and a lot of fun. Sometimes captains yields some treasure, wish I could get down there more often.

A bit rough but solid projects... cabinets on both are solid, monte carlo's backglass is just about perfect 8 ball has some cracking started. Neither working, playfields have planking, wear and fade and some flaking. Both backglasses now in temprature controlled environment.

Oh and I love it when a game still has its envelope of treasure... first time I've come across a registration postcard.

Quoted from sd_jameson:

Ya know I wondered the same thing, didn't bother haggling and didn't bother asking any questions. I don't know if the guy was on his trip still or what but when I gave him the money he asked "is that how much I put it up for? Okay." He had put the ad up like 12 hours before. Then he laughed. Then I nervously laughed. The whole thing was pretty uncomfortable. I'd be happy to share my encounter with listening ears!

I saw that ad and would have jumped on it if it was just a hair closer to me and I didn't have work. Glad a pinsider snagged it!
