Quoted from gliebig:Nice! Let me know if you ever decide to let it go. Will we see it at Allentown?
I don't see this one leaving for a long time. The last guy had it in his house since '91. I probably won't haul it to Allentown, but York is a definite possibility. I am about 20 minutes away from there.
Quoted from Colsond3:Was that the one from Jersey? I love the blipping and bleeping at game over on that thing...should have never sold mine (actually I got ripped off in a trade, but that's a story for another day).
That's the one. It needed a fair amount of work done to get it going. The 5v was bad on the power supply board, RAM was bad, the rubbers had deteriorated and fell off, half the bulbs looked like factory original, one display panel was out, etc. Luckily it is in good shape overall, it just needed 25 years of preventative maintenance done all at once. I am starting to look into modding in a shaker motor...because the torpedo blasts just beg to have some shaking to go along with the light show!
Quoted from Pahuffman:Picked up this Torpedo Alley last week. I had an interested buyer, but he's been flaking on communication. Might as well fix it up and add it to the collection. Just needs a good shop out and, like every game, some LEDs.
TA is pretty fun overall. The right torpedo tube shot can be tricky, and the green target bank can really bite you hard. For such a rare game, I sure see a lot of them. I have heard as many as 500 of the 1000 were originally exported.
