drove off this morning, queensryche pumping. over 2 and a half hour traffic getting through sydney.

anyways home amoungst 1947 to 1978

being a pure e.m. collector had the chance to buy this flash.

the game was sold as non working but i'm almost certain the guy didn't know how to add credits.

needs a bit of a tidy, a better backglass and a few tweaks.

brings back so many memories and want more SS pins now.

Quoted from JethroP:

Congrats on finding a SURFSIDE...great game! Picked one up myself a few years ago and did a restore. Had to repaint my cabinet also as it had been painted all black! Restored pic attached. Get yours all working and tuned up; it's one of the best in my opinion![quoted image]

totally agree, i searched about 30 years for one down here in australia.

did a ground up restoration (mine was also painted all black).

hoping backglass resto makes a repro bglass availbale.

really great game.

long neglected gottlieb sea belles from 1956.

large project, bglass resto glass will be ordered, have repro plastics.

wish me luck

pinball rescue plastics, wow. wouldn't of taken on this project if lee hadn't done these.

WMS Valencia - Had to transport with the head attached which gave me huge anxiety but home in one piece and just need to drill out the lock.
[quoted image][quoted image]

that game is very rare, ipdb states they only made a very few and looking for more pix. great score.

there was one that appeared here in australia last year, sadly it was hammered.

also if you get stuck again, those locks on the back door are easily opened with a screwdriver, just pop the lock.

call me crazy. did a 13 hour round trip for this major project.

so much wrong but been chasing a kewpie doll for over 30 years and see this as a challenging project.

woodrails don't show up too often in australia.

will get a ground up restoration over the coming 12 months.

nothingthat can't be saved or restored

yes one of the few grail games left (games title is kewpie doll). as mentioned major project but can see so much potential in this game.

not sure if it's an australian phase, basically I had been looking for this title for over 30 years.

with photos of another woodrail picked up today.

not one of the top notch classic sterns but this one is for me.

played this very game to death back when it was on location. was collecting pinball back in 1978.

the game had the operators number on it, so i called it as one of my friends was looking to buy his first pin. this was 1983.

so my friend bought the nugent we played all the time, we grew apart but reconnected a few years ago. so a few weeks ago he contacts me and asked if I was interested in buying the game.

hell yes! so even though I'm a pure em pinball guy feel this one belongs here now.

also a small note, it is an aussie built nugent.

know its not up there with the high end classic sterns but a not often seen cosmic princess from 1979.

has been sitting for 20+ years and by luck tried an old for sale ad that was 5 years old..and was still there.

this game was built here in australia.

usually the backglasses are very flakey but after taking it off the game could see why.

game play is similar to trident.

anyways in the resto queue she goes.

picked up a working gottlieb drop a card. backglass is near mint, playfield is dirty with one broken plastic.

has one of the old local operators sticker on it from the 1970s. so would of been a good chance playing this actual game back in the day.

gottlieb Baseball from 1970

will be a ground up resto, cab painted and had the old 3" flipper conversion (which means holes drill through the playfield).

something you don't see often..a hankin orbit 1 that was made in australia in 1978

was the 1st locally produced pinball down under.

Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:

These have always interested me.
What parts to Hankin’s use? Are they any good?

everything was made here, so the circuit boards, coils, backglasses, playfields etc.

this particular game is average at best to play.

#24349 1 year ago
Quoted from EJS:

Are you going to do a restoration thread for this?
I have an unshopped Baseball too and could use some motivation

yes ground up - have the cabinet stripped, all the paint off, playfield out and have started to rebuild

rare outside of italy - a gottlieb play pool, which is the italian aab version of gottlieb pro pool.

just love these different gottlieb variants

did an 11 hour road trip for this (and hooked up with some awesome friends in the next state.

made for italy only gottlieb grande domino.

starting another ground up resto.

have repro plastics and having a new backglass made.

love these different gottlieb variants.

notice the last photo. it has a ball diverter that shoots the ball back up the playfield after and extra ball is won.

the things we do.

picked up a gottlieb Mibs from 1969

the last 5 ems i have picked up 4 have had painted cabinets. all have been 2" flipper games.

..and 2 of them have been "converted' from 2" to 3" flippers to modernise them.

so many great memories playing this game growing up.

Quoted from chalkup8:

Animated backglass ?

yes, everytime you rollover one of the lanes a ball pops up in the backglass. usually there are 3 amounts of balls that award a replay (eg one replay at 8, 10 and 12)

getting all 12 is quite the challenge.

another project. williams Spot Pool from 1959

woodrails very rarely turn up in australia. this one has also been sitting for about 40 years so will need a full rebuild.

has a hand painted backglass so will need a new one from backglass resto.

Shay Arcade Group stocks this repro glass and they use the same silk screen techniques and ink the original manufacturers used.

yep, that's the one i will end up getting - just the aus$ vs us$ at the moment is a killer

#25132 1 year ago
Quoted from aaron6920:

With that conversion rate you should buy a pin and take it back with you! lol

pinball machines are way more expensive in australia - you guys in the usa/canada have no idea how lucky you are!
