Congrats on the Strange World! Cool looking EM and wicked backglass.
Is it me or does Solar City and El Doraldo share the same playfield design?

It does have the same play field.

Quoted from RWH:

Congrats! I played about 10 games on that pin just recently during Pincinnati and it was one of the best new pins I 've played! My brother and I had a blast, it was a lot of fun, fast and challenging too.

Quoted from rlbohon3:

Agreed! My first impressions while playing it at Pincinnati were very good. Nice game!!

Thanks
I love it!! Can’t get enough.... I was at Pincinnati too. What did you guys think of the new Elvira?

#14268 4 years ago
Quoted from RWH:

I liked it, had fun playing but, it was not as good as the JP game you got that's a fact!

I agree that JP is a lot better. Elvira was pretty fun to play. Loved the haunted house.

#14343 4 years ago
Quoted from mbaumle:

Yup. Turned out the game was posted on behalf of the seller's mother, who was serendipitously located in NJ--a 20 minute drive from my house. She was moving and needed the game gone FAST. As a result, I was able to get a much better price on the game.
It's in really nice working shape. Almost no wear on the playfield that I can see. Cabinet is super nice too. The 2 issues that stood out were a faded translite and a chipped plastic bit above the center drop target bank. They had the game for "as long as she could remember." Could even be an undocumented HUO example, but that doesn't really mean much.
I'm just glad to have snagged it.

Yes! I played the one at Pincinnati this year to death! There's a gentleman who brings his pristine example to the local shows around my area every so often as well. They're the only two examples I've ever seen, and I look forward to playing them every year. Really glad I was able to find a copy of my own. I think I enjoy playing Robo-War more than TX-Sector; though eventually I'd love to have both sitting side by side.

Looking to have a pin delivered from Freehold to southwest Ohio. Was wondering if you know a good company that deliver pins in that area?

I wonder what the average length of time here on Pinside is before someone caved and got another one after their first. I didn’t even plan on having one and now I have six, a multicade and an EM rifle.

I just bought number 5 this past weekend. Zero to Five in 1 year and a month! I definitely have a problem

The only problem I see is where you're going to put #6!

IF you assume you make an ASS out of U and ME
a truck with 8 games in it.... NOT ESSENTIAL
a rental = more contact with people
How many stops to collect all 8 games ??? ALL were porch pickups right.
How mane fuel stops along the way ??? contact with pump handles, keypads on credit card machines,...
To stop the spread of this highly contagious virus we all have to STAY THE F AT HOME.
for those who believe they are immune, I will let them spend 2 weeks on a Chinese ventilator.

He just called himself an ASS LOL

Zack also hooked me up with a JP that arrived today. Wow what a game . It truly was a great buying experiance . What is the cost of the Escalera? 3k?

Quoted from Coindork:

Devil King is a pretty interesting one for sure.
From what I can gather it's the first pinball machine made by Tecnoplay after they bought Zaccaria out of bankruptcy.
Some people have called this a conversion kit, but its not a conversion kit in the traditional sense as it has a dedicated cabinet.
Basically Tecnoplay wound up with left over Mystic Star play fields from the Zaccaria bankruptcy and used those to building these as a dedicated machine.
For all practical purposes it's the same game and play field as Mystic Star, however they designed their own cabinet and back glass to release it as a separate game.
Basically a Zaccaria game, which is basically a Bally game.
The back glass is a bootleg straight up rip off of the French Space Rock band Rockets and is from the cover of their album Galaxy (at least the god part).
These guys were some trippy Space Rockers.
They all shaved their heads, painted themselves silver and did stage performances as aliens (and this was back in the 70s)
Not sure yet where they got the neo futuristic city art from, but I'm sure its off something like a rock album or science fiction movie of that era or slightly earlier.
Some of the Italian and Spanish pins of this ear are notorious for blatantly using art from elsewhere.
Pretty interesting stuff, I'll take some photos of it when I get home from the office.
We're going to be switching it over from 220 this weekend and start fixing the few minor issues it has.
Hopefully when shows start happening again it will make it to a couple. [quoted image][quoted image]

Quoted from RandyW:

I was referring to the playfield and cabinet itself. I guess I should have been more specific. Most ST's I see, have had major touchups, (usually bad) or decals laid on them. The bats are new, I put new bats on almost every pin I shop. The posts are not new, I just cleaned them all. The plastics, I can't say. They were dirty and warped when I got the table, but clear. I cleaned and flattened them out. So no, this has not been restored. Just properly shopped out.

From now on you have to be very clear on what you say.... it’s a new world now and if slip up.....shame on you! Damned if you do damned if you don’t

#17679 3 years ago
Quoted from gdonovan:

Words have meaning.
"non restored" and you see a bunch of new looking parts.. I feel compelled to ask.
They look like CPR plastics, the tell is the color of the blues and some of the text work.

It’s all good! You did say,” not to be a jerk” in your post. So your intentions must have been good. It just sounded a little like something said from pinside police. I’m sorry, I’m new here and didn’t realize that you have to be very accurate when making a statement. Proper context is important! Maybe if it were an Ad to sell. Sorry, just my opinion. It seems it’s okay to voice an opinion on here. So we should be all good now

#17681 3 years ago
Quoted from gdonovan:

Its a decent looking Trek, better starting point then the one I restored!

You should hear what Hazmat actually paid for them

#17749 3 years ago
Quoted from Billc479:

Clogged- I recommend using thick gloves, put the pieces into a large cardboard box. After that, vacuum the entire playfield, empty contents into a bag and put into the box.
Next, wad up slices of bread and dab - do not drag, onto the playfield to pick up any tiny pieces of glass shards the vacuum did not get.
If possible, remove the playfield, turn it upside down, and let gravity do its thing.
Don’t forget to remove the apron.
Good luck. At least nobody has been hurt (hopefully).

Brought my first Stern of any era home last night. Apparently it was owned by a prop house for tv/movies, then ended up in an old lady's house. Anyway it's near mint, the last owner replaced all boards, installed led pinscores, and all led lights. All the things I usually do with my solid states. So there's nothing to do but play it.
It's one of the great early solid state pins, simple, fast and fun. Great spinner, mid field slings on the sides, no slings at the flippers, witch is refreshing. It's funny though I got it next to Spectrum and my friends Haunted House, not one of them with traditional slings.
Thanks to my friend Jay for offering the game to me .

I have 3 pins I’ve purchased in the last year .Theyre WOZ (keep wife happy ) IMDN (keep me happy ) and my 12 year old wanted a FG and the 11 yr old wants DP...But ive played the older games at a pincade we go to when our camper is open and I want a EM or something pre (please excuse don’t know the lingo just yet ) modern pinball I really enjoy those games .He seems real happy was just wondering what it was .

Get out and play some of these EMs or you can look at the top 100 for EMs here on pinside to give you an idea of what EMs are popular on the top 100 list there are solid state pins besides these more modern pin that are really great pinball machines. Take your time and find what games meet your taste

No one really cares

#19367 3 years ago
Quoted from snyper2099:

Here's 5:
1. Manufacturers factory defaults for EM games was always 5 ball, for SS games it was typically 3 ball. This is more of a gameplay/industry design standard, not an operator's standard. The industry changed in the late 70's and manufacturers strongly suggested 3 balls was a better setting because the "new" SS games focused more on skill and less on luck. Do you know many EM's with consistently long ball times?
2. Reduced wear on playfields.
3. Reduced the frequency that a game needs to be serviced or cleaned.
4. Shorten competition/tournament times.
5. Trying to be a better player. You can reduce game time while trying to still achieve the same goals/score.
To say it's the only reason is extremely shortsighted.
Nearly all operators these days are lovers of pinball and do whatever they can to get people to play more pinball. To suggest operators just cared about making more money by putting games on 3 balls is fairly silly. (#6) A lot of operators didn't even know how to change those settings in the 70's and 80's! They just left them the way there were when they turned the game on from the factory.
Regarding today's op's, two very good pinball friends of mine operate games and barely break even. Making money is typically not the first goal, it's typically getting new machines in rotation for patrons to experience.
Getting sick of people suggesting exactly the opposite of this. Pinball times have changed and old timer's pinball op standards are no longer profitable.
Also tired of people suggesting that a thread being derailed is the most important thing here. If you don't care and don't want to learn something about pinball, maybe you shouldn't be here.

If you are referring to me, “not caring”. What I don’t care about is reading arguments about trivial things. It seems there are a few pinsiders who get in more arguments than others. I saw this coming. Maybe some of us need to relax and take uneducated statements with a grain of salt. I have a passion for pinball, however I do not have a passion for drama. I wasn’t trying to be confrontational but was just wishing for a great peaceful place to share my love for pinball

Any guesses?
This is the White Water that I was supposed to be bringing back home today.
After almost a month and 49 email exchanges, the seller and I agreed on a price and date for pick up. Three days ago he informs me that his neighbor just found out that he was selling it and "twisted his arm to sell it to him".
What's most amusing is that two weeks ago he came to me crying about a lack of "honest people" after he got screwed over by a guy selling him a pin who backed out of the sale and sold it to someone else for more money.
Oh well. Still cruising the midwest with a empty car and a pocket full of cash in search of a White Water. (Or ACDC, or MET, or GoT)
And a lesson learned from what CrazyLevi always says - have cash ready and get there as fast as you can!

[quoted image]

Not a joke! Maybe a joke for the people laughing at it. I’m pretty sure it was a joke at someone’s expense. Not funny to the one taking the brunt of it. Sorry if I’m wrong and there is a joke of some sort that I am unaware of

nothing?
really?
Since you are missing the point he took your weird Al came message as weird Al “came”aka climaxed and made a joke about correcting you. No joke at anyones expense. Just some crude humor.
Carry on…

Hey guys…. This game isn’t in my possession. I’m considering buying it. Can anyone tell by this picture if this is a new playfield or a hardtop?

Thanks! I pulled the trigger. I’m happy to finally add one to my collection

Hope you are ok with the playfield. That looks like one of the old and “not so great quality” Illionios pinball playfields. The artwork was quite pixelated on those.

It is an older replacement. Not sure if it’s Illinois or not. I guess I’ll have to live with it.

Oof!!! How is it taking the head off? easy? I've always said I would do it from now on to make it easier moving into the house but I'm always nervous.

Like dirkdiggler said. Pictures and mark location of connections if needed. It’s not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Modern Sterns are pretty simple. JJPs and older games require a good bit more work.
