Quoted from cavalier88z24:bet you were looking forward to those stairs!
Ha we've had to take about 6 or 7 arcade games and a pin down before so it's down to a science at this point. A terrible painful science .
Traded a Silver Strike Bowling for this about two weeks ago and never posted here. It supposedly wouldn't start, but the coin mech wires were disconnected and the player 4 display was dead so I assume they didn't know it wasn't set to free play. Got it all cleaned up and working and just need to get the display and the plastic I'm missing behind the stand ups in front of the pops. If you have one to sell pm me!
Quoted from Pinhead306:I grabbed one close to home today finally! Right in my city.
Just got one of these myself a few weeks ago. I'd played it here and there and knew I liked it but man this game is more fun than I thought!
Quoted from McPin54:This game is so underrated. Cab is a little rough but playfield is extremely nice and plays fantastic. I'm not too far so if you get the itch to play shoot me a PM sometime.
Judging by your collection I may have to take you up on that. I'll bring the beer?
Quoted from Broohaha:It's pretty pedestrian given what I see in this post, but I'm super stoked with my very clean SM. First table. Kids love it. I'm having a blast. Have to thank all the pinsiders for the help and advice!
I suppose the logical question is: what should I put on either side of SM?
I think your avatar answers half that question!
Brought this home today and it's especially great for a few reasons, aside from being a fun lawlor pin with all the features I was looking for in my next game. When I started collecting, the idea of owning a DMD game let alone a Stern game seemed like something I would never be able to do financially. Through a few deals and trades I was able to get the cash for this one and also take my 17 month old son to pick up what I hope is the first of many games we get to clean up and play together.
Quoted from StormyX73:I love it that you took your son! I have a boy the same age and I have done the measurements to check I could fit him and his seat, the pinball machine and possibly a trolley too in the car. You know, just in case we have to go and 'just have a look' (my usual excuse!) at a machine for sale.
He loves watching the machines and the wheels on the dolly equally at this point but I'm hoping to win him over soon!
Quoted from weaverj:funny, friend help has been few and far between for me lately, too. they usually would go on the hunt with me before; now i can barely get them to help me unload at my house. #bums.
Quoted from CollinT:I've done pizza parties, beer, you name it. One of my friends has helped a ton and he finally bailed on me yesterday. #theyknow
Gotta just find someone else in the hobby! Me and my buddy seem to trade game moving favors on a monthly basis so it's a good system. We can't say no because we know we'll just need help again soon ha.
Quoted from bluespin:You certainly weren’t......mousin around......were you?
Lol, I think I may have been actually. So pumped!
Quoted from CollinT:Cheesy bonus, such a fun game! What a score! hows the playfield and plastics?
Facebook seems to be the place for hidden deals, found my non working Pinbot for $150.
Very dirty lol it was under a tarp in the basement but should clean up good. I'll have some time to get into it tonight and can get some better pics for sure. Insane pinbot grab! I usually see a killer deal once every few weeks on FB and this time I got lucky and was the first message. The guy held it for me even though he was getting offers of double and triple, couldn't believe it!
Quoted from whisper:Very underrated game that Nascar, i used to have the Grand Prix version, fantastic game lots to do, true sleeper title, congrats.
I love mine. I really think it's one of the best values for the money. Multiple multiballs, good theme integration (not a NASCAR fan), spinners, 2 ramps, 11 modes with 2 wizard modes and some sub-modes, great use of drop targets with the risk/reward for mode bonus...and a Lawlor game with flow to boot. Once I played the game and looked past the theme I was hooked.
Quoted from SilverUnicorn:Monopoly gets a pretty bad rap, but I enjoy it. Great long ramp shots, lots to do. When shopped it's a really nice looking machine too. Congrats!
Chris
Agreed! I got to play it for the first time at the ohio show this year. Alot packed in there for the money for sure. I really enjoyed it!
Quoted from alexmogil:I got really, really lucky.
Was that the one for $750 on CL? Nicely done if so!
Quoted from FatPanda:I brought this manliest of manly men home today!
Lol, must be the week for these. Might hit you up for tips trying to get mine going .
Quoted from Colsond3:That Fireball looks like it’s in excellent shape. To this day it amazes me how many people / non-collectors have a single pinball game tucked away somewhere in their house.
I've gotten a Mousin Around and a Frontier from people like this this year off FB for $500 each. The Mousin Around was sitting in a basement under a sheet with some tools on it and the Frontier was basically a bookshelf.
Quoted from timtim:Well I got another skateball
I don't think I'll let this one leave.
It's definitely a player but after some easy repairs it's running and play surprisingly well
I'll probably shop it today
Also I might need to expand.
Best part was the wife asked what game I got rid of
[quoted image]
If you need to make room and sell that baywatch let me know!
Quoted from corvair61:Got this one today. Very fun game!
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
Oooooo bitchin! Makes me miss mine.
Quoted from PantherCityPins:Just picked this one up after a 6.5 hour drive this morning. About to head back! Playfield looks good, a few broken plastics but everything else is there. Will need cleanup and the display just reads “Failure” when the machine turns on so some board issues to sort out.
The good news is I got it for $1000 so there’s plenty of room to get it right.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
Oh man jealous! Your adjust failure error is likely just dead batteries or possibly a bad holder/cold solder. I’d check for any leakage on the board in that area if you haven’t yet.
Quoted from mark532011:Lucky!
Totally - been taking back and forth on a local trade for a while and we got to a good deal. I've been after one of these for a while to add to my system 11 keeper list. Finally got my top 3!
Quoted from cletus:Welcome to the club! There’s a good group of pinsiders currently restoring these.
Quoted from Geteos:Thanks! I've been reading through a few of the restoration threads. Lots of good info and help going on now with reviving these machines. Going to spend some time tomorrow going over it to see what my plan of attack will be.
I was just thinking about looking for one of these for my next project too. Tis the season I guess!
Quoted from stavio:1 day 3 states 5 games 9 hours drive 495 miles[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
That’s a sexy System 11 my god.
Quoted from the96stang:Not one but two.[quoted image]
Quoted from herbertbsharp:If you have one that works and want to sell, let me know
Ha same here
Did you grab one of these from Michigan? There was one on FB this week but I couldn't get a straight answer from the seller on if it actually worked to gamble on a 4 hour drive.
Quoted from stavio:She just arrived. Only needs some plastics[quoted image]
Last System 11 on my wishlist! When you're done with it give me a shout lol.
Quoted from Ballypin:No Uber, do it old school with a Taxi.
[quoted image][quoted image]
This was a Facebook marketplace ad in Southern Ohio about 90 minutes from my house. I saw the ad at work minutes after it was posted and was the first to reply. The seller kept his word even though he received over 40 replies and with offers higher than his asking price. I did end up offering more than his asking price.
It’s not perfect, it has some planking and wear in the upper pf area, a few broken plastics but a lower playfield Mylar. It boots up but won’t start a game...sounds like a locked ball is not kicking out and is doing a ball search but the displays are not working so could be a power supply or display driver board issue. Should be a minor fix.
And it is the Marilyn version.
So that's where that ended up. Thought for sure I would just see it reposted by the seller or the flipper for 2-3x the price within an hour. Nice grab!
Quoted from BenB:Finally got this moved from my wishlist to my basement! “The Storm Is Coming!!”[quoted image]
Now get out!
Quoted from SNES:Picked these three up in one scoop last night! Amazing deal and couldn’t be happier to have some real pinball back in the house! Have a virtual, but nowhere near the same. Also bought this nickel candy bar dispenser. And the seller threw in an *according to him* original porcelain Pepsi sign for free as well. Couldn’t be happier! If anyone knows anything about the candy machine or Pepsi sign, I’d love to hear it![quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
Nice! If you get bored of that Jack*Bot please feel free to let me know!
Quoted from Murphdom:Not a pin but thanks to ronss who picked this 72’ Midway Bullseye EM dart game up for me I was able to bring “Iggy” & “Hank” home. It needs a good cleaning, a line cord, and a little tweaking but it should be an easy fix. I wanted to have something a little different in the game room.
[quoted image]
I've got the "modern" version of one of these with a PCB called Electro- Dart. They are pretty fun to play when you have people over and want to have a drink and sit and chat and take a break from pinball.
Resized_20200619_144329 (resized).jpegQuoted from BeaglePuss:The seller just popped it on as I was loading up. Didn’t think anything of it. I generally don’t put anything on it honestly. No shrink, no cardboard, etc. Fold the head down and go nuts.
She arrived safe and sound.
[quoted image]
Still hope to have one of these to round out my system 11 grails but the price has gotten insane on these.
Quoted from Pinkitten:Aaaaarrrrrrrgggg, ye mateys! The Rose be Black says I.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
Was that the one off FB? Killer deal if so!
Quoted from Pinkitten:Not sure if he posted this one on FB. This was the one listed here about 3-4 weeks ago from MD. It’s a beauty.
Got ya, not the same one then but great looking pick up!
Quoted from Bos98:Found less than 7 minutes from home and super deal too!
[quoted image]
Was that the one on FB? Was wondering what it would go for ha.
Quoted from Bos98:Substantially less than what they were asking, which was based off of what they paid retail from Danny Vegh's years ago...
Nice! Between the initial asking price and the scammy looking profile I didn't even want to bother lol. If you get sick of it and want to move it off or find a trade hit me up!
Quoted from KSUWildcatFan:Getting closer to the day to move this down the road (being traded, along with a few bucks, for a getaway). I can't believe how heavy every piece of this thing feels...
[quoted image][quoted image]
That is commitment right there!
Quoted from Lhyrgoif:Finally got this game home; B/W 90's games are the best in my opinion. Most stuff works but it needs lots of cleaning and fixing. It will then be a beauty (again).
[quoted image]
Great game! Just got one of these myself and it cleaned up amazingly!
20201007_211743 (resized).jpgQuoted from alexanr1:Would love to pick up another used machine, but people are asking ridiculous prices for machine now! How are folks finding deals, or maybe you aren’t and are paying these ridiculous high prices!
Most actual "deals" are going to be on FB marketplace these days. The problem is you have 500 other people constantly watching so you're basically playing the lottery hoping to get lucky. There is occasionally something on CL or the sales apps like Offer Up but those usually seem to be scams or junk, at least around here.
When I'm buying or trading games unless it's a deal I tend to stick to local collectors I know and have dealt with before. Prices tend to be more realistic and just much less of a hassle. Any networking you can do helps too. My neighbor is a realtor and has spotted a few games in houses she was listing and asked the owners if they planned to take them. The more you can train people to watch for you the better ha!
Quoted from alexanr1:Even FB market page is thru the roof. People are nuts on prices. I have offered several what they are worth and all have said no.
You need to look in the public market (not the pinball groups) and look in the local generic buy/sell/trade groups and post want ads on there. It is still like finding a needle in a haystack, don't get me wrong, but when the deals do pop up that is where they will be, and usually gone in minutes unless a bidding war starts. Have cash and car ready. I've gotten a good amount of steals off there but missed alot too.
Quoted from transprtr4u:Let me know when the EATPM has to go....
The last system 11 on my wishlist!
Quoted from AlexF:My wife would be dying for that municipal Christmas lantern. We have a couple pieces. She loves that stuff.
Same here! Love the vintage Christmas stuff...we need a thread for this...
Quoted from Liftserv:lesmanley and hazmat7719 mine came from a haul a few years back, got some pins, vids, claw machines, Skeeball, and bubble gum machines. At the time I thought what the heck am I going to do with this? Turns out my wife had the idea of taking the eggs filling them with candy, loose change and dollar bills (in the gold eggs). We did this for Easter Sunday with the egg hunt for the grand kids, nieces and nephews. Turned out to be a heck of a lot of fun for them. Best part is when they learned about the gold eggs they started to tackle each other to get gold ones, lesson learned.[quoted image]
I've tried to buy one of these about 3 different times and every time the seller has it sitting in a barn or something and its convinced it's selling for 500+ on eBay. I'd love to find one at a decent price eventually.
Quoted from Ceckitti:Gentlemen (and ladies).....start your engines!
Was never a big fan of this one, but was a good deal.
Gonna need to work though. Already know the test car needs rebuilt (not registering hits), needs cleaned desperately, and new LEDs and rings.
But should look good once done. Sadly I have to move a few out to the garage to make room to work on this one in the basement.
[quoted image][quoted image]
I had one of these for a while and I do miss it. It is a very overlooked game because of the theme. You can backhand all the shots, it has like 11 modes and 3 or 4 multiballs, 2 wizard modes and the bash toy opens to a scoop...give it a chance for sure!
Quoted from Murphdom:I know how you feel. I just moved a shuffle alley that weighs about the same and after that I am seriously considering getting an escalera.
Do it! I don't know how I went this long without one.
Quoted from TractorDoc:Brought home some late 80's goodness this weekend, and I ain't lyin' man.
[quoted image]
[quoted image]
[quoted image]
The new game room is officially overfull!
Nice grab! I messaged the lady selling that one and she replied "thanks" and that was all I heard ha.
Quoted from RWH:Not a pin but I'm pumped just picked this up for $248.00 bucks at a Home Buy store my sis works at in Norwood. It was a floor model display somewhere but it is pristine, hell still had the protective blue film on the moldings. Played so many damn games of Asteroids and Centipede was rear was sore from sitting all day! lol
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
Nice! My buddy actually got one of these to keep at his parents cabin and we were messing with it a while back before he took it up. They are pretty cool for the price and you can hack more games into them!
Quoted from Acronymicon:I was in the middle of refinishing my game room when a good deal (I hope) on a routed TSPP came up 4 hours south of me, so 3.75K$ and 8 hours of driving later this is what I came home with.
Needs all the flippers rebuilt, some decals, and rubbers, but the playfield, ramps, mechs, and toys are all good to great, just a tad grimy.
My one concern is the bit of battery leak damage, only on the component side of the board, which was cleaned with only flux remover according to the previous owner. One chip leg is a bit green.
Think I should hit it with some vinegar? I already have a replacement IC and socket en-route with a ridiculous 6 flipper rebuild kits.
I am loving it so far even with the flipper slop.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
Damn would kill for that deal, great grab.
Quoted from Happy81724:Just brought home a Bally’s grand slam! It came with some cool trading cards too! I kind of want to open them but I know I shouldn’t
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
Open em and frame them into some sort of topper!
Quoted from KSUWildcatFan:Selection looks great around here. Truly.
Guess now I know why they didn't show the cab in the ad... lol
// no, I didn't offer on it as I'm not working on any project that might need donor parts from this. Sadly, that's all I see here.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
Yikes...I hope they meant make an offer on how much they would pay you to haul that away
Quoted from Pinkitten:Star Trek premium is a beautiful game. I had a pro twice and really wanted a premium or LE. I love that deep red. Congrats!
ST is my favorite game too. I'd love to upgrade my pro one day.
Quoted from KSUWildcatFan:Had my buddy bring me a couple new toys to play around with and sent him with my BKSOR as collateral for the time being.
Cats is pretty rough, but plays. It will need a full shop job and a new set of plastics..the cab will need some attention with stencils, but that'll be much later.
Slugfest seems to work fine from what I can tell although it does have a credit dot. No idea if Slugfest will be a forever keeper, this is my first trial with a pitch and bat. We'll see what the kids think.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
If you have the space, SlugFest is alot of fun, especially with kids if the card dispenser works. It gets alot of play when I have people over or when there are kids down there. Admittedly it's not the best one player experience but if you have a spot you don't mind it taking up I love mine.
Quoted from KSUWildcatFan:Yeah, I'm hoping the kids love it. I cleared one space (BKSOR) to fit both of these, although Bad Cats absolutely needs stripped down and fully shopped at a minimum (it's FILTHY) so I could have gotten away with keeping BKSOR around a bit longer... oh well. I'm looking forward to seeing how the kids feel about it.
Doesn't seem to be anything special here besides all matching boards (except for the power supply -- bummer). I think it's just *that* dirty lol
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
I think the kids will, I love it too! I find non pinball people really gravitate towards it when we have people over. When I have pinball people over its great because you can play any number of innings, so there are alot of people that will play 1 to 3 inning games waiting to play their ball on a pin, or we've had real quick dollar tournaments. Anyway - my sales pitch is complete!
Quoted from KSUWildcatFan:Oh man, great scoop. Stars is on my list.
Are you planning on trying the code updates on those? Galaxy transforms into a GREAT game (sorry, I think it's booooooooooring stock) with the 2021 code!
That does look pretty cool, I'll probably try it out...gotta get them playing first!
Quoted from Pinkitten:Ah, Star Trek pro. I’ve owned it twice and I’d gladly own it again. I really miss that warp ramp!
The secret is to not sell it! Wouldn't let mine go unless I lucked into a premium or LE. My favorite Stern!
Quoted from EvillePinball:Really liking this trade so far!
[quoted image]
[quoted image]
Huge upgrade there IMO ha. One day I'll land a TWD. Been debating throwing up my GoT for one...
Quoted from MrMikeman:“Surely you can’t be serious”.
“I am, and don’t call me Shirley”
It's a big building with patients, but that's not important right now!
Quoted from Geocab:[quoted image]
Picked this up last week. I've been looking for one for 6 years and finally got it.
Oh hell yeah!
Quoted from aaron6920:That is a happy saturday. TWD will be kicking your A** in no time
It has been for years ha. One of my favorite games ever and finally was able to land one. I’m a glutton for punishment.
Quoted from luckycreature:When it's only twenty five miles away you can take the risk that you can't fix everything yourself. Time to clean and troubleshoot as it's been neglected for many many years.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
Yeah baby, jackpot!
Quoted from jrcmlc:This is my wife as well, however after reading the threads about bribing wives and buying them shit so guys can keep machines and how to sneak machines in and hide the expenses and blah blah blah, we are in the tiny minority.
People marry crazy people then are shocked when they end up crazy. If you need to sneak things past the person you married and shared a house with you’ve got some deeper problems that need to be addressed in that relationship outside pinball ha.
