Just picked up a project Firepower from my brother. I've been trying to get him into the hobby for years and he bought this about a month ago and recently determined that he doesn't have the desire to repair anything. He has 2 other pins, one works and one has some issues and I think he is just overwhelmed with repair issues. I'll give this a try!

image_(resized).jpeg

cool pick up, any clue yet what it needs to get up and running?

#1800 2 years ago
Quoted from chrisjens2:

I was told that it has clean boards but when powered up game would go in to attract mode then reset. I think it needs the 40 pin interconnect replaced and the Firepower adapter replaced. I was told someone came up with a nice adapter but I haven't researched it yet. It needs a good cleaning and new rubbers for sure. I plan on looking for some decals to cover the wear spots on the playfield. This will be my first attempt at repairing a project pin other than shop outs and thorough cleanings / mod installs.

Start a thread when you get ready to troubleshoot. Replace the 40 pin, even if its not the problem now it will be soon...I look forward to seeing it up and running.

Some unboxing pics.

Good news is I don't seem to have any ghosted inserts. Game assembled on Nov 28.

Didn't realize the game was so different (not talking about callouts/art)... where's Bank Bust? I hit Doc Ock about 10 times in the first game and got two modes, neither of which was Bank Bust.
The shots don't feel quite the same either.
Here's a pic of the first game ever played on the machine (by me anyway)

Is that ghosting on your Venom insert??? Just kidding sorry
That is interesting as I also thought all the modes were the same...no bonesaw?

Got 2 in a package deal...wasnt really looking for more pins as the gameroom is filling up but a friend really needed them gone quickly so here they are..both games have actually been here before, I bought the CBW about 3 years ago in a package deal. Then it was sold to a friend who sold it to a friend. The guy he sold it to had the Johnny already but the hand didnt work , had some switch errors, and was filthy so he asked me to bring it home, repair, clean and add LEDs some time last year......CBW is in players condition, the playfield is in really good shape but the cab is not, plays 100%...Johnny plays fast and playfield is in fantastic shape but wow look at that cabinet fade, must have spent years near a window. Im not sure yet if I will put on new cab decals or just sell it as is...
Both will be up for sale soon

The FT is actually the one I was most interested in as well, its also the one that will present the most challenges and more than likely need a playfield swap. Im going to start putting boards from some of my other games in them tonight and make sure I can get them to boot and somewhat flip a ball around, then I will start gathering parts.

Picked up 2 projects, TOM needs new playfield, cab is trashed, its about 90% working....WH20 is not as bad, playfield ok, works ok, cab beat up but not awful, came with new(repro) topper, dome and boulders...
I was planning full restore for both, but the WH20 might be in too good of shape for that...the TOM however will keep me busy through the winter, its getting the full treatment.
