Thanks! You got to get 'em while you can. If you don't someone else will. Cleaned the barf out of my car and was back on the road Sunday to pick up a second Grand Prix. 6º and sunny didn't feel too bad after some of the weather we've had recently.
I'd post a pic of the Grand Prix but she's no creampuff. Trying to make one decent one out of two.

Good to hear making progress on the Grand Prix.

When your flipper is up , the switch opens to cut the high power to a hold power. It is on your flipper assembly under playfield . You should see a yellow capacitor there as well. These switches must open .

Quoted from MT45:

Started hunting this title about 2 weeks ago after deciding I didn't have room for a full size or puck bowler.
My wife loves to bowl, but we never seem to find the time. She's also not the best Pinball player and gets frustrated pretty quickly with regular PB games so ...
I thought I'd try to find a Gottlieb Strikes 'N Spares to see what she how she liked it ...
She loves it! Really, really enjoyed it
We played against each other this evening for a few quick games after setting it up and really had fun
Cool game and a sure winner in a larger collection - Adds nice variety
Paid up for the title for a few reasons :
- It was only 90 minutes away
- I was able to inspect and play before pay
- This example looks almost new
- Came with 14 extra, new balls
- Owners manual, spare price cards[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

These followed me home the other day because I couldn't turn down the price. Hadn't planned on keeping either but neither worked properly when I showed up so now I need to put in some time and effort fixing the monitors (vertical/horizontal collapse).. Quoted from MrMikeman:

Picked up a Doctor Who yesterday. Faded but it came with a full set of decals. I'll play it for a few months and then I'll tackle the cab restoration. Have a Pinsound, shaker, ColorDMD, and LED OCD to install in it this weekend. Previous owner LED'd it but there's boat loads of strobing and ghosting going on. Pretty distracting. Glad I had ordered a few sets of the OCD boards in advance.
Unloaded and carried in the house by myself. I love my Escalera stair climber with forklift attachment!!! I use the forklift to lift the pinball to put on the rear legs too. My back is destroyed so this thing is a life saver. Here's me unloading the machine from the truck: [quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Excellent game! It's one of 3 pins I have an unhealthy addiction to and have to play regardless of it working fully or not.

#15618 3 years ago
Quoted from Colsond3:

[quoted image][quoted image]

My goodness, where are you putting them?

#15640 3 years ago
Quoted from o-din:

A follow up on that is once I removed the almost 200 led bulbs so it was playable, I looked at the high scores and saw the name ROB on there. I had sold my old Ripley's to RobT and it had come back, but with the way I set up games, I don't remember if I ever topped his scores or not.
For a moment I thought it might be my old game with the tilt bob now stapled in a bag instead of sealed like it was when I first got it, but then it occurred to me my old one did not have the factory Stern stickers on the playfield glass like this one does. Definitely HOU and another low play example that I thought I would not find again.

I like how games come back around.!

Quoted from Coindork:

Here’s a few pics of the Orbitor 1 I picked up over the weekend up north.
Guy claims they have had it since 84. I don’t know, maybe. I suspect his timeline is off a bit though. Definitely a very clean machine. So far I’m having to fix one of the optos on the spinning target, a missing post, and a loose coil and a few other minor things. The battery leaked a little, but doesn’t seem to have caused any problems. Going to put new rubbers in this weekend.
Funny because I underbid one of these last month at auction that was in way worse shape and got this one for 1k less.

Been a busy last couple of weeks, first with the survivor Phantom of the Opera from the NYC area near the tappan Z.... Put a bunch of love into that, but it had great bones and is a beauty now, one of the best ones I’ve seen.
Then went up to Vermont to grab a Haunted House (picture of the cellar should tell the story) but the backglass was eh, so I sprung for an awesome Shay reproduction.
Then landed an ex TNT Black Hole out of CT a few days ago that’s in really nice shape.
The kids have been having some fun with these classics but I’m tired now, lol, I think I’ve worn my knees out from hauling these, I’ve forgotten how heavy they are and I’m not 18 anymore :/

On Wednesday 99% of the games were still there, there were two other locals picking up pins when we arrived.
The 5 day pickup policy is for regular Captains Auctions. We still got 3 more days of the auction, so the big buyers are waiting till the whole shebang is over.
5 or 6 buyers bought 40-50 games each, the word going around is these are going in shipping containers overseas, these account for lots of the idiotic prices. Why they paid stupid prices for D list games is a mystery to us all.
The Captains crew had started wrapping games for shipping, but only 8 or 9, here's a picture .
A few of the classic SS ballys were gone, but all the classic Sterns were still there, I was the first to pull one out.
They got a ton of work ahead.

Back on track here, I have a problem and cannot pass up a deal. For the price I was expecting to just be picking up a parts pin that I’d use as a conversion base for another stern. Much nicer than expected for >$300 including gas and a forgotten step ladder at the seller’s house!

Never seen a credit display like this before! I guess Stern made these early on because it’s got their name on it.

Since I have no room, I’m gonna fix it up and loan to a friend that’s been toying with the idea of buying a game.

An interesting display there.

Well, today was supposed to be new pin day...
Unfortunately Fed EX Freight decided to kill my Godzilla
Crappy situation but I guess there are worse things in life
So the damage:
Box got hit hard by something falling on it, lockdown bar shows compression area on siderails
Strap on pallet clear taken off from corner and damage continued down the box
The back box took a bad hit, looks out of square possibly, decal and trim/box damage
Not sure if the playfield got abused either, who knows
Game was filthy inside box, lot's of dust/dirt swirrled in through box tears
Delivery Refusal of course
Kurt from Hemispheres is handling this awesome for me. Many shout outs to Hemispheres!!!!
Now for the ugliness:[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Quoted from pinmister:

Elvis left the building many years ago from my collection, years passed by and he was missed tremendously. I was determined to get him back to play a permanent residency at my home. This time around I wanted a collector quality Elvis that would become a keeper. For years I searched for the perfect Elvis at a reasonable price. At first I wanted an Elvis Gold version and found several to choose from. I then changed my mind and decided that the gold version did not have anything different other than the brass trim/plaque & the brass was susceptible to premature wear and tarnishing. I then was offered multiple modded regular Elvis machines but decided I wanted to hold out for what I really want. What I have been searching for years for is an all original Elvis in collector quality condition that is unmolested and has not been touched. I did not want one with LED's and mods but one with that classic magical glow that comes from the original factory incandescent light bulbs. Some of the classic Sterns with incandescent bulbs are beautiful with the subtle glow(almost magical) and I want to preserve what is left with the classic Sterns. Another reason I wanted Elvis back in the collection is the unique fun layout. The left ramp to upper pass thru shot to Heartbreak Hotel is one of the best shots in pinball. I also wanted Elvis back because it is my Mothers favorite game(got to make mama happy).
When I first got into the hobby a fellow pinhead gave me some advise. He said one thing about this hobby is to learn to have patience. Any machine you want to get will come around at some point in time-just a matter of patience. My first five years collecting I did not have patience. This Elvis took me years to find but I got exactly what I wanted and am a very happy camper. So stoked to have another classic Ritchie game back in the lineup(never can go wrong with a classic Ritchie).
Elvis is and always will be the 'KING' of Rock and Roll.
-Just look at the magical glow of the original incandescent bulbs-absolutely stunning! [quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
