As I sat dejected in the driveway, I decided to call a guy who I was going back and forth with on a Road Show and told him I was in the area (2 hours away). The evening ended on a happy note as a few days later, Red and Ted have bulldozed their way into my lineup.
The moral of the story - I still need to find a Whitewater within a few hours of Chicago!
