Here is my FIRST NIB purchase ! Happy Father's Day to me and every holiday up through Christmas. We just got home at 2:30 am with this. Been up since 5 this morning and after driving 4 hours home from Nashville and then 4 hours round trip for the pickup, I am way too tired to open it up. More pics to come.IMG_4355.JPG
Bally Sea Ray I scored from CL in cincy. Dirty but is cleaning up great. PF is near perfect but BG has flaking and previous owner did bad touch ups. Perfect candidate for Phoebe's magic. Picked up from warehouse next to a self-storage lot. "Breaking Bad" Bounder RV was in the lot and swear to God, the seller had a bald head, thin rim glasses but no Heisenberg mustache or goatee. This is my first game with a chop-top glass, older pre-diamond stainless coin door and Christian Marche artwork. Now I want a Bally Skyrocket !IMG_4956.JPGIMG_4962.JPGIMG_4954.JPG
Here is the Old Chicago that I picked up in Peoria, IL 2 weeks ago. 10 hour marathon drive from Nashville, TN (my work location during the week) to Peoria with a stop in Indianapolis to sell a backglass and then back home in Cinci at 2am. This is the 3rd Old Chicago I have owned and plan for this one to be a keeper. I also included pictures of the repaint I just completed on my Flip Flop! (3rd one I have owned and 2nd one I have repainted). Now just need to stay focused and put it back together before I rip into OC. Yeah, right.
2 Bally zipper flippers: 1969 Bally Op Pop Pop and a rare 1967 Bally Surfers.
Won the Op Pop Pop on ebay Thursday from seller Rob Berk. As I planned Friday to make a trip to pickup the game, the thought of an 8 hour round trip to Warren, OH for just one game seemed wasteful. So, Friday night about midnight after watching too many YouTube zipper flipper game videos, I see a CL ad that is 11 hours old for Surfers in Northwest PA and another Pinsider posting about the sale. I quickly fire off emails to the seller and then stress for the next two hours why there is no response (Duh! Normal people go to bed). Has the game been sold already? Are my emails going to a spam folder? I somehow get about 4 hours sleep and then around 8 am start to get a response from the seller. Game was still available and we work a deal for a Saturday night pickup. Head out at 10:20 am Sat and return home this morning 18 hours and 920 miles later. I need to go to work tomorrow so I can get some rest
Quoted from bluespin:You take any parts off the 2nd machine that are better than the 1st and swap them out making your 1st game better. Then you sell/trade the 2nd lower quality game.
Great minds think alike. That was my justification to the boss (wife) for the purchase. This is actually the 4th Flip Flop I have purchased over the past 29 years. Sold # 1 to my brother in law and he still has it. Sold # 2. Restoration of # 3 has been off and on for almost 3 years with a cabinet re-stencil and is very nice already. Didn't really need # 4 but couldn't pass it up.
What has become my obligatory truck pictures from my purchase this morning. Fireball is one of my grail games and I was fortunate to find it 25 minutes from my house from a local Pinsider.

My truck is happy to stay in the same county for once. If this fell through, I was tempted to jump on a Bally Dogies in eastern PA that popped on CL 2 days ago. Would have been 1000 plus miles and 18 hours to snag a game that I have never played but would like to try. Fireball was a no-brainer.
The 1972 Fireball I picked up on Saturday has some interesting history according to the backbox door. I forgot to ask the seller but I believe he said he bought it from Texas. The giveaways are the Cowboy sticker, 92.5 KZPS FM (Dallas) and Joe's info from Whicita Falls. I tried goggling Tramp's but had no luck finding where it is or (most likely) was. The old Bud Man sticker brings back memories. Ski Beech is North Carolina.
Quoted from CollinT:Nice! I've stayed at Ski Beech in NC a few times. Lots of Beech trees in that area
Total score on the sticker, if you ever decide on selling it, pm me
If you really want the sticker, I'll send it to ya for the cost of postage. It doesn't jive with the Texas vibe. That assumes I can remove it in one piece with a razor blade. No, the machine does not come with it
Flash Gordon left yesterday according to plan. Had to find something to replace it and a suitable candidate raised its hand on CL. Never had a Bow and Arrow but always wanted one since I played it as a kid back in '76 in the same pool hall that had Flip Flop, Old Chicago, Wizard, Space Mission, Little Chief, Grand Prix and others. Here are the truck pictures. It has a date with Mean Green. If I get out of the doghouse with this one, C-Ville is next up

Game # 2 is Bally '73 Circus. I know, it has boring game play but I played one in my youth and have a nostalgic connection and don't have any space issues. Love the colorful backglass and pinsider Todd let it go super cheap. I am now so backed up with restorations, it's not funny. I am officially in a self (and wife) imposed buying freeze until I move out a couple games...here is to nothing cool coming up for sale local.
Quoted from Grayman_EM:You bought my Circus I was trying to buy. Todd never answered my PM which I sent over a week ago. Now I know what it feels like to get a good ol' kick in the Cannoli's.
No offense, but I have learned in this hobby (and in life) you have to be bold when you see something you want and then be ready to follow through. I saw your post Friday morning and then I replied to his ad via PM. He responded right away and he sold me the game because I paid his asking price and was able to pick it up at his house 24 hours later. It was perfect timing because I was going to Chicago the next morning to pick up Capersville and I would not drive that far for Circus by itself. I hacked my way through numerous buyers when Capersville popped up on CL in Chicago, probably because I offered too much. Persistence.
I don't mean to keep ragging on about this but his pinside ad HAD a phone number. If he went radio silent on you, you should have called him. When I see a CL listing, I PRAY for a phone number so I can actually TALK to the seller. Cuts out all the crap about emails especially when the deal is not local to me and I want the seller to know I mean business or try to get better pics quick so I can decide if it's for me or not. If you really wanted the game, pick up the phone. I never disclose to the forum with specifics about a game I am contemplating...but I will thank you for the tip.
I should do this by PM but the seller told me YOU went silent, not him, so don't be expecting a reply from him anytime soon. At least you heard from me that the game was sold.
Quoted from animesuperj:Weird that 2 On Beam's show up that close together in that close of time-frame. Yeah, Rocket 3 I had more interest in. If you're able to get both, let me know. I don't have the time currently to grab both, otherwise I would have already.
What?? I'm 7 hours away and would come to get the Rocket 3. No response yet from seller... may already be spoken for.
Expanding on the On Beam explosion, there are 2 for sale in Ohio right now.
If you are referring to the one in Bluffton, OH (north of Lima) it started at 1200. I offered 600 and he said he would do 900. Then he came down to 750 firm. His ads have dropped to 1000, then 900, then 800, then 750. He just asked if I would do 650. I would if there were 300 in the coin box.
Quoted from Boof-Ed:Shouldn't that be wrapped?
I had to sit and wait a week a couple of years ago to work out what this was.
What was it?
Ha! You just gave me a great idea...I can market a large pinball machine shaped box ready for wrapping that pissed off wives can put underwear and socks in. I know my wife would buy one.
Snagged these 2 Bally Zipper Flipper games Dogies and Cosmos in Boston, MA this morning.

Still on trip back home now. Read through the trip diary here:

Taking the pinball addiction to new hights
Thanks. I didn’t really take the time to check everything but the seller said they were both 100% and no reason to doubt him. Will know for sure tonight after I set them up. Who knows what a 900 mile trip may have jiggled loose
Quoted from wisefwumyogwave:When you gotta get that third game in the minivan.
ALWAYS have to upvote when someone gets a Flip Flop!
Colson-
Let us know what the serial number is on your CF. The paint scheme on the coin door has the red reversed from the blue which should indicate an early production. Maybe you even scored a non-starred glass or over the top version. I need some of your luck
Long day Saturday capped off with a better Bally Dixieland zipper flipper single player game. Started the day on the road at 5am for a four hour drive to the VFW show. Played a crap load of games then stopped back for a quick visit with my parents. Arrived in Columbus at 11 pm to do the pickup and finally home and unloaded by 2:20 am.
Here is my latest pickup. A non-working project but the price was right. Unfortunately, the balligator mech in it entirety was removed at some point. They even removed the 2nd flipper button and filled in the cabinet. Playfield has next to no wear and should clean up nicely. BG looks perfect. Side of head has cracking in paint and right side cabinet has wear with fair touch ups.

Arrived home safe from an 9 hour round trip and started the cleaning process. Cabinet is very nice with just one drilled hasp hole and a few scratches. Non-Diamond Plate pf and no mylar but playfield looks fantastic and will polish up nicely. 2 broken plastics and no wear on upper pf. Seller said there was an issue on the power board and has been dead for 5 years but have not powered up. All boards match, no apparent hacks and only one brown spot on one connector.

Quoted from loneranger:These were inside the Gottlieb Silver Slugger I picked up today. Date on the bottom is April 2007. Think they're still good?
You have to ask yourself the question...
“Have those cans of beer been exposed to more than 600 plays in the last 12 years ?”
Quoted from weaverj:you called her bluff.
She won’t get really pissed until you go for number 10.
This title has never been on my list but it was on my way home from a 12 hour road trip, the price was right, playfield has no wear or planking and will clean up nice, backglass has a little flaking (unusual for Bally’s of this vintage) and a near perfect coin door. Added bonus is that it came from Kentucky and meter shows 14,699 plays. Owner says it hadn’t been played in nearly 20 years. And yes, it did come with legs.

Haha. My wife liked that comment. She is a artist and paints murals and does stained glass mosaics. We have “blades” on all sides of the cabinet

At least that’s the way I’m interpreting it.
I’d like to have an MM or MMr but I need a rich uncle to bestow me. What was not in the first picture is a rocket ship from Tomorrowland. I had her put the “FG” on it for Flash Gordon

He is already realizing how much Flash Gordon is going to kick his ass
Great game. Hope you got a good one with a working strobe.
Nice pickup Puffdanny. You have to be running out of room so let me come get that Flip Flop from you
Colson, you are an absolute machine. I’d be insanely jealous of you but I’m actually on my way to pick up a game myself. Can’t wait to see what you got.
1974 Bally Champ non-working from a FB post. Ad was only up for 30 minutes and I was out the door. Offered and paid more than asking price to allow me to nab it. Kind of a mixed bag...previous owner repainted the cabinet and it looks good but failed to remove and fill 3 bolts from a hasp on the cabinet. Did a good job on the body graphics (almost looks like vinyl) but did not do the head graphics. BG has missing paint. PF has wear at pops and minor planking. Should clean up very well. Finding a Bally within a 2 hour drive is always a win-win.

Left at midnight and drove seven hours to Waynesboro Virginia to pick up a 1966 Bally Gold Rush. Thanks again to bluespin for the lead on this machine. Saw the ad Monday night and messaged the seller and got the game locked down. Play field is very dirty and very little wear. Game appears complete except missing gate over center bonus mushroom bumper. Backglass has a few wear spots but is in much better shape than the last four examples that I’ve considered buying in the past year. Cabinet is solid and has some wear but will clean up and present very well.
Not headed home quite yet. Going to make a stop in Roanoke and see the Pinball Museum and then also stop at Black Dog Salvage before I venture back through Kentucky to pick up game number two. Details to follow...
You have to get up early to be able to compete with Colsond3

...and game # 2 is Gotlieb 1967 Surf Side. I am not a Gotlieb guy but it has cool double flippers and roto target goodness. Played a really nice one today at the Roanoke Pinball Museum.

Quoted from NicoVolta:Hey Ballypin! That was one of my personal machines on the floor. It won a best original ribbon at TPF in 2015 I believe. People LOVE playing Surf Side in 2-player mode after I teach them the rules. It is so much more fun with another player... easily Gottlieb’s best multiplayer of the 60’s.
Did we meet while you were there? Pardon... these 80-hour weeks are hell on my memory!
Nic, no, we did not get the chance to meet. I was told you were in NY when I stopped in last Saturday. I was on a whirlwind trip last Saturday and made a quick stop at the Black Dog Salvage shop then stopped by to see you. I was just going to look but when I saw Surf Side, I snuck a fast game. Surf Side is a cool looking game but I ended up passing it on to another Dayton, OH pinsider who is in the process of restoring it.
I will say that your Skyrocket is drop dead gorgeous and I really want to find one for myself. Yours looks amazing with the clear coated playfield and played fantastic. The LED’s in the Skyrocket make it really pop. I’m sure I’d be about 50th in line if you ever decided to sell it.
Finally found a nice 1966 Bally Bazaar to match up with my avatar picture and wishlist. Bazaar was Ted Zale’s first zipper flipper game and I have been hot and cold on this title for over a year and passed on buying it twice. The stars aligned and I made a trade of project games with another local Pinsider to bring Bazaar home. Bow & Arrow and Amigo left and will now get their due attention to live again.
Think I will change my avatar to Bally Skyrocket in hopes that it will lead me to finding one. I don’t think Nic Shell NicoVolta will be parting with his anytime soon

It is a restoration project for sure and quite rare but I LOVE the artwork and can’t wait to give it the TLC it needs to live again. Thanks to RyanClaytor for cabinet pictures so I can recreate the stenciling.
Part II to this story occurs in 2 weeks so stay tuned.....

Good score. Sell it to me at Allentown.
bluespin tipped me off 2 months ago to this March 1966 Bally Six Sticks project for sale by a Pinsider in Texas. A good friend was going to TPF and agreed to bring it back to Ohio so the deal was done. This game has changed hands twice in the last 6 months because it has some cabinet issues and needs a full restoration but I couldn’t resist the goodness that is Ted Zale and gladly welcomed this project to give it another chance at life.

Bally Rocket III acquired from Colsond3 who did a great job refreshing the stencil colors. A Ted Zale classic with zipper flippers and a spinning bumper.
Bally Loop The Loop purchased from Pinjunkie16 is another Ted Zale design and also features a spinning bumper.

Quoted from Colsond3:Started cleaning out the cabinet, found a post it in there. Now all I can think about is what the hell happened on 9/16/2015...and did they commit fully?
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
My guess is that on that date, Colson passed on buying his first project machine. It is a note to the present-day Colson to never go against your pinball logic and just buy and never bye, bye
Quoted from Colsond3:It’s definitely a day for project games…or maybe two.
[quoted image][quoted image]
The machine never rests. Congrats on the pickups.
Quoted from embryonjohn:Does every HUO Victory come with a stuffed ram’s head?[quoted image]
Yes. The stuffed rom’s head just came on the prototypes
That was a magical journey all right. I see what you did there. Halfway through your post, I’m wondering “Where the heck is the game and Colson’s trademark cheshire grin?”
You tease us until the last pictures to get the pay off.
Good score.
I would be interested to know what 60s or 70s Bally play fields or projects you would have available.

This was a Facebook marketplace ad in Southern Ohio about 90 minutes from my house. I saw the ad at work minutes after it was posted and was the first to reply. The seller kept his word even though he received over 40 replies and with offers higher than his asking price. I did end up offering more than his asking price.
It’s not perfect, it has some planking and wear in the upper pf area, a few broken plastics but a lower playfield Mylar. It boots up but won’t start a game...sounds like a locked ball is not kicking out and is doing a ball search but the displays are not working so could be a power supply or display driver board issue. Should be a minor fix.
And it is the Marilyn version.
Quoted from C_Presley:I was one of those replies!
I spent about two hours last night with the seller, breaking down the game, loading it up and talking about all kinds of things that we collect. His Facebook messenger alert was going off about every 10 minutes.
Quoted from Colsond3:Nobody on the word play? [quoted image]
We know that when it comes to tournaments, you are the ringer.
So, a Bally Flash Gordon pops up this morning on Facebook marketplace 4 hours away for 400 OBO. What to do ? I messaged the seller and we came to an agreement on price and I get on the road. The whole time I’m driving there he’s telling me he’s getting higher offers. Duh.611C4FB8-825D-4B21-BAC0-7A8E4104C5E8 (resized).jpeg
I did end up paying the seller more than our agreed price since it was in nice shape. Full mylar on lower and upper play field. A little bit of wear at the kick out hole and in the upper play field where the ball enters the field. MPU looks clean but not sure if it boots. The BG has a few scratches in the upper portion that can be easily touched up. Bonus is that it includes the strobe light.

Quoted from Colsond3:You want to play it like that Darrin?
Ha ha. I knew it wouldn’t take long for you to see that comment. The rest of us are just pathetic earthlings trying to keep up with your activity.
Quoted from Colsond3:And your game wasn't tagged by Rick Brochu on 11/1/1989.
No, but mine has a smiley face. After looking closer at the Flash logo, it’s very similar to the naughty sketch that was all the rage in junior high. It’s just missing the hanging male appendage.

Quoted from ZNET:Congratulations, Pecos! Surfers is among my favorite zipper flipper games. Gameplay is great and Kelley's artistic talent is on full display.
It took two years but I recently got my Surfers playing 100%. I was on on the fence and considered selling but it is my favorite now. The Ring Ding can rack up 500 points but is most times a sure drain. The joy of hearing the 3” bell ring five times and then flailing away trying to save a SDTM. Risk-reward.
Not home yet from my first trip to York but picked up a bunch of parts and this sweet little Zale zipper masterpiece Mini-Zag. Shout outs to Ivan Ivan1496 for working with me on this deal and Bruce ZNET for his expert testimony to convince me that I really need game number 17. Here are the obligatory truck pictures.
Colson- are we even now ?

York was crawling with zipper flipper games and I even had to zig past Mini-Zag # 2 in the flea market area. I almost bought this one instead but the cabinet had a not too good repaint. Good enough that it didn’t take long for it to be gone and out the door right after lunch on Friday. $475 was the asking price but the seller offered a bit lower.

Congrats!
Zale used the spinning bumper again in Rocket III.

Now we know what the D stands for
Quoted from ZNET:You've started out with two great titles, especially Surfers. Congratulations!
I’ll echo Bruce’s comment about Surfers. Congrats on the scores and it gives encouragement to all of us that there are still gems out there to be found and restored.
Quoted from Spyderturbo007:Thanks to dangersem for hauling my ass 90 minutes each way to grab this. I originally went to buy a Dolly, but grabbed this instead. Might go back for his Volley, but I'm not sure yet...
[quoted image]
Atleast they all rhyme Damn, you beat me to it.
Man, it’s been a long day and I figured you were adding some culture to your life with that opera comment. Then I saw the picture.
Cool pickup.
Quoted from Colsond3:I have seen Mozart’s Requiem several times, Don Giovanni, Carmina Burana and several others, mostly at the Lincoln Center in NYC. They used to do the Mostly Mozart Festival up there annually, but I haven’t seen that they’ve had it in the last few years.
And I did major in Classical Guitar my first year in undergrad.
I have watched the Marx Brothers “A Night At The Opera” and listen to “A Night At The Opera” by Queen.
You win.
So, after sitting around today and seeing nothing on the horizon, I check the local FB ads and see a local project for $ 100 that was up for less than an hour. I immediately respond but some jive turkey saw it first. Not wanting to strike out, and with little time to spare, I offered a little bit more and got the address. Perfect backglass, very little wear, nice cabinet and for less than the title of the game.

Not 100% home yet. I watched this Bally 1964 2 in 1 when it was on eBay but could not reach a deal with the seller. The seller then placed it on an online auction site in Columbus and I was able to win the bid. The better half would shoot me for this so I stashed the cabinet at work til the coast is clear but the backbox was an easy early morning transfer to the basement where it has blended with the rest of the herd. BGresto has done this glass before so that will solve the fade issue.

Quoted from RWH:Does that come with PDI glass?
I believe it is an option. I'll check with the Double Bubble people in China tomorrow.
Quoted from Colsond3:You should really lay down cardboard when you’re transporting a game...especially a grail like that.
Rest assured, it rode inside with me. I might be crazy, but I'm not stupid.
Quoted from JethroP:Did you get a hand truck to go with that?[quoted image]
That would have helped a lot. Or even a backpack.
I know you are all anxiously awaiting some unboxing pictures. Until I get mine set up and dialed in, here is the teaser video from reveal day.
Quoted from Colsond3:Went to pick up a game earlier today. Somehow ended up with two. Might pass the Lost World along.[quoted image][quoted image]
What? Get rid of a game with the highly prized doorbell mod ??
Quoted from JethroP:Think of the possibilities....[quoted image]
Just what we need...crotch shots. I’m sure Python would have included it on Zingy Bingy.
Quoted from Colsond3:Haha. The person had started a restoration, and gave up. All the parts in boxes, and a good amount of new parts as well. Projects are good at a time like this.
See what happens when you binge Netflix?
Colson is the new Tiger King.
Quoted from bluespin:Are you picking up exactly ten pins?
No, you struck out with that guess. It is not a sports theme pin and obviously is nothing other than a Bally.
Quoted from Jaeg:You are almost to my exit.
Quoted from dothedoo:Dude, if I'd known you were coming here I would've invited you over for a little social distancing pinball.
DAMN! This trip came together about 2 weeks ago and I kept it under wraps.
Just got home from this solo trip. 1,524 total miles and 26 hours driving on pure adrenaline so no need for sleep. Started the day yesterday at 6am with the day job then hit the road Thursday at 6pm for an 8 hour drive to Altoona, IA to deliver (2) 1920's antique traffic signals that I sold to a collector friend then onto Lincoln, NE to meet pinsider Jbrauer2 to buy this sweet Bally beauty....Wizard! to compliment Capt Fantastic that I bought 2 weeks ago.
I have owned both Wizard and CF in the past and played both as a kid when they were released in '75 and '76 but these are staying for a long time.
I can still hang with Colson

But it ryhmes with gas
Quoted from scampcamp:Up near Duluth MN.... there are Pump n Munch conveint stores.
Avoid the cream pies
An early Sunday morning pick up for a FREE game only two hours from home. I did give the owner a Benjamin. The owner started a restoration that was never completed. I already have a Rocket III and was hoping for a very nice original back glass with the correct blue background but this one is toast. The playfield is better than my current one so this one will probably end up being a parts machine.
The cabinet may not have any original paint but it still has the correct white flipper buttons. Yeah Colson, I’m talking about you.

Quoted from EasternBloc:24 hour roundtrip to pickup this beauty; seemed appropriate to document a Circle K stop.
Guess what honey, this trip's not for a pinball!
[quoted image]
Need to start a poll to determine how many Pinsiders won't know what the hell is in your truck. I am going to guess at least 10%.
Quoted from gdonovan:Looking at 5 pins, one shot.
Pull that off and you can take a break in July.
So, last Saturday morning I see a FB ad that had been up for 10 hours for this SWEET Evel Knievel a couple hours away at an amazing price. I replied and expected it to be long gone or at least at the back of a very long line. The seller never replied until today with a cryptic update on the ad with instructions on how to be the first person with cash to buy. I went for the gusto, jumped a state line and scored this VERY nice example. It has an acid damaged MPU so a replacement is in order. The game was supposedly in this furniture store for the last 10 years. The playfield is dirty but will clean up nicely. Cabinet is very nice with a touch of fade on the front left side. Very little wear on the PF, spinners and kickout hole. The coin door is perfect with no dents...another sign that leads me to believe it could have been home use. The house door bell for adding credits and the blanked off coin slots are another clue. Also has a 3 ball price card so games were fast. Displays look virgin with no burn and the connectors at the rectifier are not burned or brown.
2nd pickup in as many weeks...I think I'm getting into Colson territory

Was that the one on Fisher on Facebook? I thought about it, but distance was a bit far. Congrats on a nice machine.
Yes, same one.
Quoted from Ceckitti:Didn’t even have to buy her dinner lol
But now there will be no extra balls.
Quoted from Colsond3:You pin whore. Hahaha. I’ll be caught up to you in two weeks.
Darrin, I’m coming to hunt in your territory.
Hey, I drive through Springfield several times a week. You gonna bring me a pair of white flipper buttons for Rocket III ?
Quoted from TractorDoc:I was blown away when I learned I had the opportunity to bring this game home this weekend. . .
That sucks that I missed buying it.
Here is some Evel Knievel trivia for you:
The EM and SS backglass both have a light animation motorcycle jumping over English Double Decker buses. Evel attempted to jump 13 of these buses at Wembley Stadium in London, England on May 26, 1975. He landed short, was thrown off the bike and suffered serious injuries. He announced to the 80,000 spectators that he was finished jumping. Ever the showman, he retracted that statement a few days later and then 5 months later on October 25, successfully landed on the ramp over 14 Greyhound buses at Kings Island amusement park, north of Cincinnati, OH. This was his longest jump of his career.
Count the buses and you will find 14.

+100 for the chrome legs.
EBD will return to me someday.
Not at MY home yet but wanted to share now so I can keep up with Colson.
Been searching several years for a better condition Bally Flip Flop playfield to swap into my repainted cabinet. Finally found a good donor machine in VA 2 months ago but enlisted the help of a friend in the area and fellow pinsider JustageFehler to pickup today and store for another month until I can pickup.
This game hooked me in the summer of '76 and this makes the 5th Flip Flop I have owned in over 31 years of collecting.
Still looking for a sample or prototype version that has differences such as a metal top arch, green colored flip flags, yellow rails and older graphic bottom apron.

Quoted from JethroP:The wildlife around here have started wandering into our neighborhoods like never before. I suppose it's the pandemic. So this Big Game (it's a tiger) reared its beautiful head only 10 minutes away from my house. I could resist bagging something that close to home. It was DOA but I plan to resuscitate it in the coming daze. [quoted image]

Quoted from Scoot:Been looking for one of these for a while.
[quoted image]
Congrats on the search.
Hopefully it came with legs too. Otherwise, it is just another imamculate pin.
Hey, let’s all lighten up with some joy. Here is the Captain Fantastic I picked up this morning and is the 4th CF I have owned in the last 22 years. This one came from a great pinsider in Elkhart, IN and he sold it to me for what he paid. I plan to take some better parts of it and combine with CF#3 I purchased in May and then offer up that game at NO profit to me. Small way to pay back the hobby.
I’ll probably have sideways pictures but I’ll fix that when I get home.

Quoted from JethroP:Dang it...wish you were closer. I'd like your leftover Capt Fantastic.
That’s nothing. I am picking up Flip Flop # 5 on Friday and then I will have another leftover.
You were closer. But...
The kinfolk said "Jed move away from there"
Said "Californy is the place you ought to be"
So you loaded up the truck and you moved to Beverly
Hills, that is. Swimmin pools, movie stars, spensive pinball machines.
Quoted from JethroP:I do remember one of your Flip Flops...reusable stencils you made, all that.
Yes, that is FF# 3 that will get a playfield transplant from # 5 and then # 5 will get sold with the not-as-nice # 3 playfield. There is a collector in Lexington that is restoring a Flip Flop with a clearcoated NOS PF and it is drop dead gorgeous. I think I would offer a spare kidney for this.

Quoted from JethroP:Maybe you need to make a cross country trip with a trailer like ibuypinballs, bring me some projects, and load up on your return to Ohio.
I am afraid the trailer would quickly fill with Cali people looking to escape east to sanity. As long as they bring some good Bally's along with 'em.
Quoted from ibuypinballs:Colson you need this to go next to that Playmatic.
[quoted image]
Pete, got something to go next to my Bally’s ?
Quoted from Colsond3:Man...why didn’t Bally and Williams (and every other manufacturer) take lessons from Playmatic or Zaccaria on how to make playfields???
So much great artwork compromised and worn down on B/W, and even GTB titles.
Just a moderate wipe down with Novus 1 on this Fantasy...scuffs and grime come up, ball track gone, shiny and smooth. Nuts.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
Planned obsolescence. Manufacturers need to keep selling new games.
I had a Zac and the pf looked like Day 1.
Quoted from KneeKickLou:I just picked up my first game today a World Cup Soccer so excited to play, if anyone has a good beginner but still a little challenging rule setup please let me know

+ 1 for a Pinsider in my hometown of BG !
Extra bonus if you love Pisanello’s.
Congrats on WCS. Love that game.
Quoted from Green-Machine:Go Pisanello’s pizza![quoted image]
That poor TMNT has in Pisanello's FOREVER. Not sure if Dr Scott has it there on route of if they bought it from Dr Scott.
Back in the early 2000's, they had a nice CFTBL. I can also remember a Mata Hari there in the late 70's.
Pisanello's is THE BEST pizza in Bowling Green.
Quoted from yzfguy:I'm dying to know what a miami redskins baywatch is!
Immaculate with less than 600 plays and no legs.
Sprechen Sie Deutsch ?
I don't but I will have to consult a translation dictionary for a few of the playfield and backglass words on my latest addition: a German language 1971 Bally Firecracker. This is the first of two games that Harry Williams designed and Bally produced in 1971. The other game is the highly sought-after Skyrocket.
Here is an interesting article about these Bally-Williams games.
https://www.pinballnews.com/site/2017/11/30/harry-williams-and-bally/
I made an early morning 800 mile round trip to pick this up from a fellow pinsider. The game is working and will go through my beauty treatment to make it shine like a new penny. I eventually would like to find an English version or swap in an English playfield and a new English BGresto backglass. Luck for me this one does not have any fuse issues

Ha. I was going to point out the same thing but instead say that it looks like a dog took a big sh*t in the yard.
Quoted from Pinkitten:It was still NIB. I played another AIQ owned by my buddy and although I liked it a lot, I was pretty sure I wanted a high-end 90s Bally/WMS from my wishlist instead. Picked one up today. Setting up tomorrow!
I love the laugh of the skeleton in the battle to save the princess.
Quoted from Rensh:Damned, why don’t I collect stamps, a lot lighter !!
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
Well, you have to lick stamps. Whereas, this game can lick you.
Quoted from pinostalgia:whoa, let me get this straight, you actually went to see 10 machines before you picked this one???
No, I'm not crazy enough to personally view the other 10 machines as they were in WI, NJ, OH, KY, MO, AL, GA, VA and MI. I am crazy though for being up since 11:00 pm Tuesday night for work and then leaving at 3:00 pm Wednesday to drive 5 hours to Chicago and arrive back home (after a sleep break) at 3:00 am Thursday. I logged about 900 miles between work and play in the past 27 hours.
I played EBD in HS when it came out in '81 and I bought a nice '81 version in 2000 but sold it quickly when I moved into DMD games. The itch for one came back in August and over the course of the past 2 months, I have daily (and hourly) watched the ads on Pinside, FB, Mr Pinball and CL. Every time I thought I had one lined up, the game either already sold or the owner decided not to sell or the condition was too rough.
I REALLY wanted the '81 first run cabinet design but I compromised on this '84 third release. It will cleanup very well.IMG_4053[1] (resized).JPG
When I met the seller to get the game, I noticed a 5' x 5' tapestry hanging on the wall featuring Bally Flip Flop, Sky Kings and Big Show (and a couple stinky Gottliebs). It appears to be an image from Japan (?) and is most likely a shower curtain based on the 12 grommets across the top. I planned to buy it from the seller but he graciously threw it in at no charge.IMG_4055[1] (resized).JPG
Quoted from JethroP:I ain't ne'er seen a DMD in your coral....unless that stands for Dilapidated Mechanical Display. Do I know you?
I should send you pictures of my Bally Six Sticks project...it fits that description.
My last DMD game was WAY back in 2010 in when life seemed so much simpler. I almost went after a CFTBL during a frustrating EBD search day. I will have one again eventually.
Quoted from NoQuarters:Probably would be fun to have some time with bad girls.

How quick does a Supersonic take to travel 25 miles ??
About 2 minutes.
Nice score.
It is less than T-minus 8 hours until I embark on a 1,700 mile, 28 hour road trip, traveling to 5 states and making 8 stops. Picking up a lot of cool goodies.
This was a pin-less trip until I found a nice addition. Follow along for road updates. This trip will make Colsond3 and ZNET proud.
Here are some tunes for the journey.
Quoted from AlexF:My wife would be dying for that municipal Christmas lantern. We have a couple pieces. She loves that stuff.
Quoted from grantopia:Same here! Love the vintage Christmas stuff...we need a thread for this...
I am actually picking up another blow mold in Chicago. I’ll post a picture of that later today.
OK, Indiana has been good to this humble young man from Ohio. Sometimes when you go fishing, you land a whale.
I’ve given you clues in my last posts so I will let you think about it for another couple hours and then I’ll show you some pictures. I am such a tease.

No, it’s not Fathom. No it’s not Cross Country although I would like it to be.
I guess I’ll spill the beans. I gave you the clues DOUBLE Vision and UPtown Girl.
Number 4 out of 55, Bally Double Up from May 1971. This one is SUPER clean, cabinet is bright, only slight wear at the 2 kick outs and a flawless backglass. It showed up on Facebook marketplace early Sunday morning and was a perfect fit for this marathon road trip that I’m currently on. Playfield is covered with shuffle alley wax but I did not see any planking. Super stoked to find this rare bird. Gems are still out there in the wild and you just have to be in the right place at the right time.

A game you have been searching for your entire life ?
If so, I submit you mine: 1965 Bally Band Wagon. Released in March 1965, this was the current Bally pin available when I made my appearance in early April 1965. This example was purchased from the Replay Foundation in Pittsburgh and sports serial number BW 1601. Being # 601 out of 1840 made (33% into production) between March and May, it is quite possible that this Band Wagon and I share the same "birth" date.
When I get around to this restoration, I envision a cabinet repaint and commission a BGresto backglass.

Quoted from Deyanks98:Is that in a good or bad way? I’m presuming bad but had to ask.
I think you are confusing “suck” and “sick”.
Sucks always means sucks and it rhymes with f*cked.
Quoted from corvair61:It looks like I ended up in the “What year did you graduate” thread.
Blutto: Christ. Seven years of college down the drain. Might as well join the f*cking Peace Corps.
Quoted from DCRand:Completely out of room. But couldn’t resist one more classic. I’ll find a spot for it somewhere. Any guesses?
[quoted image]
My guess is that you will put it in the living room.
Quoted from gdonovan:I almost called on that one but trying to refrain so I can make progress on Flash Gordon again.
If this weekend goes well, cabinet should be in primer.
Ha ha. The seller said there were a couple other people interested but when I called, he had no clue that someone would want to come from Ohio to get it and put a deposit down to hold it.
I told him he has no idea what us pinheads will do to get a game.
When you get that ass kicking flash Gordon finished, you need to put this soundboard in it.
Quoted from RustyLizard:Playfield after 10 minutes of work.
[quoted image][quoted image]
Holy crap !! That playfield looks fantastic. Great score. Jealous.
Quoted from woody76:Is this HUO or restored? thing looks sweet.
Restored. Owner repainted the cab using Pinball Pimp stencils and the PF is an NOS.
I will post more pictures.
Quoted from Jappie:Don't get me wrong, nothing beats an affordable Fireball.
But when you know that the previous owner had serious mental issues and took his life about 23 years ago, and you discover his impressive stash of heavy medicines dated 1998 after getting the machine home and drilling the coin door lock, it makes you shiver.
Rest in peace, dude. I will do my best to make your beloved machine live on.
The first picture below shows how I found the machine: inside a trailer and untouched since 1998. The other pictures show that the machine is in quite good shape underneath the filth. Final score: 21,600.
[quoted image]
[quoted image]
[quoted image]
Wow. That is a sad story.
To think this could happen to any one of us make this even more sobering.
Take good care of that Fireball.
Quoted from gdonovan:That's just mean! I been looking for one of those!
Flash Gordon + Allentown = Fireball
Back in the day (which was a Wednesday), putting a high score on a game meant LITERALLY putting the score ON the game.
Bob Rose thought he was the shit at 114,240 until M Folkerth put up 118,090. Ron put them both to shame at 120,437, somehow managing to score 7 points.
Ron may have had too much to drink that night.
IMG_5944[1] (resized).JPGIMG_5945[1] (resized).JPGIMG_5946[1] (resized).JPG
Quoted from Pinkitten:That could even be 123,437...even more bonkers!
I noticed that. Ron is a fucking cheater.
Quoted from Colsond3:Not mine, but grabbed a game for Ballypin. As I got closer to the pick up location, I realized where I was.
Right hand turn to the infamous Gameseum, left hand turn would leave me high and dry. Neither a good choice.
[quoted image][quoted image]
Thanks for the favor. I owe you at Allentown. At least you showed us the better part of the BG with the redhead and perky bits to help ease that left turn. The other one is not too shabby either.

Not the first time it has happened. Taking the balls out isn't enough.
Grabbed these 2 Bally EM beauties while in Allentown. IMG_6531[1] (resized).JPG
The 1970 Zip A Doo was purchased a month ago for a very nice price and Colson did me a solid and picked it up. My buddy and I drove down to Colson's place after the show Friday night and picked it up and left my Night Rider EM for Colson to deliver to the show Saturday due to conflicting schedule with the new owner.
The 1976 Aladdin's Castle was a little more interesting. I spied it right after the noon Friday opening in the flea market. SO CLEAN and ONLY 850. Unfortunately, the game sold Thursday night and was not marked sold. The seller was kind enough to point out the new owner to me and I began pressing the new owner all day to re-sell to me. Too many hundreds later, he relented and we agreed on a price. IMG_6524[1] (resized).JPGIMG_6532[1] (resized).JPG
Met several friends including Brad Baker, Bruce Zamost, Kory Hankin, George Arfkin and Colson. Rocked the cargo shorts and sketchers.IMG_6530[1] (resized).JPG
Great score John! You gave me the lead 2.5 years ago on the one I bought.
John’s Skyrocket is serial number 1517 and includes test game report forms in the coin box. Bally typically started serial numbers with 1000 but with the Harry Williams designed games Firecracker and Skyrocket, the numbers started with 1500. Skyrocket had a run of 545.
Quoted from EJS:Actually 1/3rd of it is missing but it’s more of a decorative part than a lighted part.
Of course, it is appropriate to have a ceiling fan mounted next to it !
Quoted from bluespin:You can ask the moderators to change your screen name. I suggest “lookingfor(another)pin”.
Or
“Looking for my 44th pin”
Matchmaker bluespin struck again...
John found and posted an estate sale listing in Carmel, IN with a 1974 Bally Amigo. I was not looking for another pin but could not resist. I played Amigo as a 9 year old kid back in 1974 just a few blocks from my house. Stashing this one into the ever growing restoration line. Missing insert is in the game. Now I owe John 2 beers. Thanks again my good friend.

I did not know that "chicks" were a thing with Dick White. I immediately had to check Flip Flop! as I did not remember there being a chick on that game (there are not any).
I did know that Dick snuck in the Mexican man from Amigo onto Flip Flop!

It’s not home yet but I feel like a little kid on Christmas morning as I am SUPER excited to have finally landed this grail and wish list game Bally Cross Country from 1963. Been searching for over 3 years for one to come available and finally convinced a very good friend to sell. Watch for a Cross Country thread to explain why this first true Ted Zale Bally game means so much to me. 5D923C96-5247-4C39-820B-269D82B28323 (resized).jpeg9384F643-DB1F-4550-A7C3-1983065B1AE1 (resized).jpegD5AF8417-89D9-4791-BBEB-161159CFE09C (resized).jpeg
Quoted from EJS:It looks like it’s on skis which is funny considering the game. Just thought I’d point that out.
And, he is waiting in Waitsfield.
Presently in my house but not yet at it's new home is this unique and quirky 1980 Gottlieb Time Line. The game was listed for sale by a new Pinsider about an hour north of me in Dayton, OH. A very good friend in Maryland fell in love with Time Line at Replay FX and his Pinside wish list spotted the ad. Being the equally good friend, I accepted his request to buy this game and transport it to Maryland in a few weeks.
Now, before you think that this is a super kind act and start smashing my Upvote button, I was already set to travel to this same friends place to buy his equally quirky 1964 Williams Stop N Go for another good friend of mine that lives in Iowa who wants it for the theme. My Iowa friend and I collect and restore antique traffic signals and Stop N Go will be his first pinball machine. There is a limit to my generosity as that game is stopping at my house and not going to Iowa until he comes to pick it up.
...of course I have a couple traffic signal purchases to pickup in Maryland along the way

Quoted from gdonovan:Could have been stopped at a park!
I jest.
Parked in the driveway or driving on the Parkway ?
Quoted from transprtr4u:Thanks for the pick up address should be there about a half hour before you !
Ha ha. Fooled you. I’m on my way to Preston Maryland to pick up something else but the pin is on stop # 2.

First 9 hour and 586 mile leg to Preston, Maryland to pick up this 1950’s four-way traffic light. Now have a 2 hour drive back in Maryland to deliver the 1980 Gottlieb Time Line to a very good friend and pick up another game from him.
Stay tuned….085D7EE8-4011-4066-BD6E-9C1179CEB470 (resized).jpeg

Stop # 2 is to deliver Time Line to its new owner JustageFehler 5AA2F898-BD98-4CC3-947A-BADB736C2E87 (resized).jpeg
Also picked up this little gem, a 1964 Williams Stop N Go for a long time traffic light collector friend and brand new pinball owner and Pinsider briandsmia 7B88DCED-BFD9-41AA-85E3-BC365D2E39DF (resized).jpegE6F1303A-0243-4353-BF5C-2961673ECF3B (resized).jpeg9FF3361A-7BA3-448C-BA43-1EE5523045E4 (resized).jpeg

On the road for 4 hours and have another 4.5 hours to go… to the first stop in North Carolina
The plan was to pickup up one machine but then a wish list game popped up so I decided to git this little Dogies along to its new home in Maryland and make a Pennsylvania stop before I go home.
Gonna be a 26 hour-ish, 1500 mile trip. Stay tuned for more updates. 79553BBA-62A3-460B-9E78-FC0CC99A4E44 (resized).jpeg098F5B3F-C3A7-42B2-AC2B-CC37FE945D02 (resized).jpeg
Made my first pick up for this very nice restored Flash Gordon. I have owned this title four times in the past and this is the nicest example so far. Now I am traveling North in Carolina and back to Maryland to drop off Dogies and then to pick up game # 2.

Stop # 3 was 2 hours up the road in Lancaster, PA to pickup up this nice 1964 Williams Stop N Go that was not listed for sale but was in a picture of another game listed for sale. The seller said he would sell and his price was very fair. It pays to be a pest and ask. Worst they can say is NFS.
Just now ready to leave Lancaster at 9:40pm. Trip is right at 24 hours but am still 8 hours from home and will finish around 1,540 miles. Yes, I do enjoy this craziness.

At first I thought this was a foreign game until I read the backbox upside down.
Quoted from Ballderdash:Is 10+ hour round trip too far for a top 3 machine?
We have clearance Clarence, Roger, Roger, what's our Vector Victor ?
Xenon is back in the herd after a 7-1/2 year hiatus. A very good friend picked up from the seller at York last week. This one has a nice cabinet and decent playfield that I may eventually replace or hardtop.
Torn about removing the uber-rare metal vacuum cleaner tube mod... its a tube shot that really sucks your balls. IMG_1522 (resized).JPGIMG_1523 (resized).JPGIMG_1524 (resized).JPG
Quoted from SilverUnicorn:I'm embarrassed to say that I don't hate that "mod". LOL
Chris
Hmm... the seller was from Phoenixville, PA. Are you fessing up ?
First stop was in Kansas and although I didn’t see Dorothy or Toto, something even nicer jumped into the truck. More details to reveal later but I need to trek back to Missouri for the other pickup.

This Radical was not listed for sale. Three weeks ago, I started a cold call PM blitz to 23 Pinsider‘s that had the game listed in their collection and put out a bounty for them to sell. 15 flat out rejected, 7 did not reply but this one expressed interest to sell. I made a generous offer that the seller accepted and I jumped the line and escaped the feeding frenzy when the next Radical comes up for sale. The seller asked and I accepted his condition to have the first chance to buy it back if I ever decide to sell.
Quoted from Mopar:Yea, primarily their own fault..
Bills will just have to take down the
Bengals instead of the Jaguars..
Bills may beat the Bengals but Cinci has the better chance to take down Mahomes. We have beat that punk 3 times in 2022 and the Bills would choke. Again.
40 years ago on this date in history, January 20, 1983, Def Leppard released their 3rd album "Pyromania" that would go on to sell over 10 million copies.
As a diehard fan since 1981, I chose to celebrate this milestone in true pinhead fashion by purchasing another machine. Sound check starts in 14 hours. Stay tuned...

Quoted from Mathazar:Those wax figures look pretty realistic!
Just kidding....enjoy the show! Saw them in 1983 myself (Lakeland, FL) during that Pyromania tour.
My post was an intentional mis-direction. That picture was from July 2022 but tomorrow is a somewhat related machine pickup.
Going to see them again in August in Columbus, Ohio.
Quoted from KSUWildcatFan:Darrin should have swung by here and picked up a whole trailer full of cocktail pins. Lol
Haul them over to Arrowhead and the Cincinnati Bengals will bring them to Ohio next Sunday along with the AFC trophy. Again.
Quoted from KSUWildcatFan:I think our QB is dead so you're probably right. You guys gonna lose in the SB, again?
Well, we had the Rams beat except the NFL wanted LA to win, so a few bullshit penalties gave them a go ahead score and the ring. Where are those great Rams this year ?
Bring on the 49's and we'll break the curse. The Bengals get no respect and that gives them the edge to play great.
Quoted from SilverUnicorn:Will be posting soon! Have to arrange pickup of a game I paid for last night. Not a crowd favorite, but I don't care Stay tuned!
Chris
Quoted from KSUWildcatFan:I'm having my buddy pick up something I've wanted for 2ish years (I've only been doing this since Jan/2019) now. Sadly it's gonna sit in his warehouse in South Carolina until I can come get it. But it'll be safely waiting for me. Will post a follow-up when it's safely in his hands and the deal is 'done'.
Teasers !
Quoted from darkryder:Dino looks perplexed…maybe he wants in. ROTFL!
Had peanut butter been invented back then ? Asking for a friend
