Just nabbed a Operation Thunder.

Re-import. It works, but the cabinet wiring is a disaster. I'm surprised it even fired up. Someone added extra coin counter stuff, hacked up the coin door wiring, hacked up the power cord wiring, removed the power box (so there's no EMI filter or MOV)...ugh. Other than that, it didn't look too bad.

Ha! It looks like she's crawling out of the van.

Nice! When tuned in, OT is a very intense game. There's lots of tweakage possible in the menu settings, if I remember correctly.

Remember to install longer plungers or System 80 coil stops in your flippers. This gives them a shorter stroke. It makes the feel of the System 3 flippers a lot better!

I wish they would do 3-D plastics again as they look cool, Damn you 2-D cheap skate bastards!

I found this in KY for a reasonable price. I learned a couple of lessons on this trip. When I called about it I talked with the wife but when I got there I was mostly talking to the husband. I was trying to make chit chat while we were moving a treadmill in the way. I asked him simple questions like if he played it much, how long he had it, and where did he get it from. Then I asked if he remembered what he paid for it and he said he didn't even know what his wife was selling it for. I said the price and he stated oh they definitely paid more for it. That was when I put the money on the pool table and put it into high gear to get that thing loaded.

Lesson: Don't make chit chat.

It's in great shape. They think they only turned it on a handful of times. They never cleaned the playfield and I was wincing when the lady did a small playthrough cause the ball looked rusty. I know it's not a great pin but I think it will make a good beginner pin for my parents. It might be neat to take to shows too.

Ahhhhh! I winced just reading it. We're all insane.

That is when you run for the outlet!

So dmbjunky - What kind of pinhauler is that ? Old Jeepster ? Scout ?

Quoted from TenaciousT:

Yep. A Jeepster Commando. I got pulled over by a lady sheriff about 40 minutes from home. I was going a little fast but it was after midnight. She just gave me a warning. It must have been my charm.

Ha!
At the 2013 NW pin show, a buddy of mine (who has the pin) went to a presentation by Kevin O'Conner - the artist on this pin -, & he got up & directly asked about the "graphic" artwork.......

Seconding you finishing this story...

Yeah, you might have to take that to shows just so more people get a chance to play it. I know I'd play it and take a picture.

Nice. The 2 pins that got me into this hobby years ago and both on my short list....Cyclone and Phantom of the Opera. They will both be mine someday.

#2921 7 years ago

Cyclone is one of my all time favorites. Just picked up a new cpr playfield for mine. Congrats!

#2922 7 years ago

Didn't actually bring home myself but STI delivered me a Golden Arrow today. It is insanely dirty, but everything (except the star rollover) functions, and it is in really nice condition or will be after a thorough cleaning. Few things to replace (lane guides), and 1 chipped plastic. I've have some strange obsession with this machine and am glad to finally have one.

Have never had a problem when the heads are pushed up to the back of the truck cab.
.....Didn't you know Gottlieb heads are aerodynamic? And the old Bally woodrail head sits below the top of the cab.
All is good, they made it home save and sound.
......I know, not a good ideal but it doesn't say on it not to transport with the backbox up/on. I put my Bally ss down cuzz it told me to.

Got a Godzilla picked up for me on Friday. Troubleshot some issues, resolved most issues on Saturday. Cleaned, waxed, rerubbered, new balls, LEDs on Sunday.

Still have to rebuild the flips and kicks. Used some ghosting LEDs, so I'm gonna get an LED OCD board. Gotta get a few lights working still, and probably have 10 more bulbs to replace.

Good thing I'm outta town for a week - gah! At least the Wife will get to enjoy it.

Could you have taken the head off and that would mean you could have slided the machine further in ?
Well the machine is safe and sound no matter what so thats what matters in the end i guess

Would not matter, the cables between cab and head are too short,i am not going to pull all the connectors from the prints to get the head off, too dicey.
To give you an example:
I only swapped the batteries and super mario went imbecil..
Bullshit error about a u1 chip?
Took me 2 hours?
Even the menu was talking blur to me?
You are supposed to load factory settings in this case and reboot the cpu...

So yeah, lets leave the head on during transport, better yet, even leave the legs on!

I totally understand your reasoning we've all been there . I have heard you can fit a pin inc a TZ in a merc e220 esatate with the back seats folded if that helps
