Picked this up yesterday. $500. It looked much nicer in the pics from the seller. It came with a ton of problems at no extra charge. Displays don't come on. MPU doesn't boot. This is going to be a lengthy refurbish.

Quoted from Methos:

Nice Job.
Still looks like a ton of games there...thought like most of them had to be picked up within 5 days.

On Wednesday 99% of the games were still there, there were two other locals picking up pins when we arrived.

The 5 day pickup policy is for regular Captains Auctions. We still got 3 more days of the auction, so the big buyers are waiting till the whole shebang is over.
5 or 6 buyers bought 40-50 games each, the word going around is these are going in shipping containers overseas, these account for lots of the idiotic prices. Why they paid stupid prices for D list games is a mystery to us all.

The Captains crew had started wrapping games for shipping, but only 8 or 9, here's a picture .
A few of the classic SS ballys were gone, but all the classic Sterns were still there, I was the first to pull one out.
They got a ton of work ahead.

Picked up this "King of Diamonds" today from the guy who bought it at Pinfest. I originally had first dibs on it, but passed because I'd have been tapped out for the rest of the weekend. locksmith bought it, but let me get it from him so that he could get his "Dodge City" pin.
One of the nicest "KOD" playfields you'll ever see. Peachy!

Quoted from Damonator:

I’ve seen comments in several LE sale threads from overseas guys saying their aftermarket prices are quite a bit higher than ours. Prices are getting close to $20k for some of the more desirable LEs (JP, EHoH, DP, IMDN, MMR, etc).

Machines are expensive over here, but they aren't reaching US$20k - think that'd put them out of most people's reach.

Also while machines can be switched to different voltages (eg 230V), the issue with importing modern Stern's is that they have a built-in circuit that detects the input power's hertz frequency, if the machine was originally for the US domestic market (60Hz) it will not allow the machine to power on in a 50Hz country. This was introduced in the SAM based machines to help protect Stern's distributors, however after market boards became available to address the issue; but the Spike systems have an updated protection system and I don't believe there is a "fix" - and people aren't keen to buy & ship one over only to discover they've bought a nice piece of art that can't be powered on.

First day off in a few weeks and made good use of the time. And continuing the 400$ trend.

Sorry - I should have stated European and Middle East as that’s where the commenters were from.

I didn’t know about the voltage protection circuitry - that’s interesting. I guess it could be defeated with a beefy step down converter like this?

10000 Watt Voltage Converter Transformer - Heavy Duty Step Up/Down Electric Power Voltage Transformer AC 110V/120V/220V/240V Power Converter - Circuit Breaker Protection https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08L6KKBN4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_5HKB8PZNSRJZNWBAQG8C

The protection circuit checks the frequency hertz, not the voltage, so a typical step down transformer that simply changes the voltage won't address the issue - you'd need something more like this https://www.ato.com/1kva-frequency-converter ... so I guess it depends upon how deep your pockets are

Could you use an online UPS? Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-Double-Conversion-Extended-SU1500RTXL2UA/dp/B000ARSV4K

Or, grab a big DC 12V power supply and then run it through a large inverter? (Didn't try to size these out for a pinball, just a thought exercise)

Picked up a College Daze and a Humpty Dumpty about 15 minutes from my house. I have already started working on the HD bumpers so they are removed from the playfield. Getting a College Daze glass from Shay, parts from PBR and ordered some playfield glass too. Going to take a lot of work to make them playable again.

Slow and steady wins the race? Took nearly 4 months to finally arrange meetup with the seller!

I wouldn't give up on it because the PF is original, seems like a great first project, and it was super close to me.

Thought I'd get cute photos but I wound up with this instead.. Enjoy! I'm floating on the left and my Dad is on the right.

Buy a 500 lbs Harbor Freight lift and modify the handle so that you can move the lift farther back under the machine. This forum has several techniques for modifying the handle.

Went to pick up my Big Game playfield from a restoration/clearcoat and took my brother’s Warlok up for its own restoration treatment. Can’t wait to see that one when it’s done! It needs a pro’s help, because it’s been mistreated in its life.

Couldn't find one of the 4 games I wanted used so I ordered this Star Wars. After I ordered it, I received a message from a Pinsider offering up a used game from my list. I didn't want to go back on my word so Star Wars was delivered yesterday and the used pin will be picked up today. Used pin pictures will be posted after pickup.
