6 hour round trip for the ugliest translite known to man. At least the game is fun and the playfield is nice. Now, does anyone out there have a lockdown bar?
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

It will be hard to track this down. Most DE games of that era had black lockdown bars. When I needed one years ago, I actually had to buy a black one, sand it, and polish it.

Yeah, I figured it would be almost impossible to find one. I may do the same with one from Pinball Life. Thanks.

#21404 2 years ago

I read that in the forums but can’t seem to find the actual Data East part number. It’s not listed in the manual. I’m going to give Pinball Life a call tomorrow. Thanks. I have plenty of issues to sort out on the game in the meantime.

Quoted from G35R6:

This is the White Water that I was supposed to be bringing back home today.
After almost a month and 49 email exchanges, the seller and I agreed on a price and date for pick up. Three days ago he informs me that his neighbor just found out that he was selling it and "twisted his arm to sell it to him".
What's most amusing is that two weeks ago he came to me crying about a lack of "honest people" after he got screwed over by a guy selling him a pin who backed out of the sale and sold it to someone else for more money.
Oh well. Still cruising the midwest with a empty car and a pocket full of cash in search of a White Water. (Or ACDC, or MET, or GoT)
And a lesson learned from what CrazyLevi always says - have cash ready and get there as fast as you can!

I had that same experience unfortunately…
Was literally three blocks away from purchasing and the guy was helping someone else load the game! Learned a lesson….get there early

Early Data East have stainless finish and interchange with classic Stern.

When you sanded that one down was it stainless steel underneath?

Yes but now that I posted above and think about it, it may have been a repainted classic Stern... Gdonovan mentioned a classic Stern would work. Keep in mind some of those have nipples and not tabs. The first 6 DE games had stainless lockdown bars... I believe the rest were black.

You are looking for one from the 1st 6 DE's or, from a classic Stern with tabs. This pic from POTO on IPDB looks like it is NOT stainless underneath:

Finally got my JP LE back, and setup in my parents house while they were out.
thanks Brobra!
HUO always seems to play better then the NIB I get.

I have a Monday Night Football with a stainless steel lockdown bar, but all the trim is black. It really seems like it was supposed to be black.
It is the 6th game by DE. I always figured mine was swapped for a Stainless because the black ones were harder to find

Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!
Today I turned 25 and I got woken up by a call from an operator I’ve been working for a few months. He said “I’m done screwing around with these other guys, if you want them all then tell me when you want to get ‘em”
I told him I’d be there in 2 hours!
Here’s my best haul yet, and it was only 20 miles from my house! He bought them all NIB and they’ve sat in the bowling alley for nearly 30 years! The decals look amazing. No fade. Some slight water damage but the games all play and function perfectly!

All the pictures I have seen show stainless with black trim, maybe it was a transition period and they could not get the black ones yet.

MNF was all black: ebay.com link: 1988 DATA EAST MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL PINBALL FLYER

I have repaired countless examples of this game in the last 15 years. They all had black lockdown bars.

Thanks. I made the Stern/ DE discovery when I tried my Robocop bar on my Catacomb. I have a hard time thinking that Stern would use stainless when the bar was going to be painted black. But it would be a nice option for a Stern builder needing a stainless bar. I guess I could remove some paint from the underside of my Robo bar and see if stainless is hiding in there. But that POTO does look like it is not stainless.

Just bring a TZ prototype with red boards. It comes with a lot of features removed from production like: another opto board, 2 additional PCB with flashers, 2 more optos switchs and so on... this pin was crazy expensive to built and experience a severe cost saving.

Really happy with it and the family loves it.

Several show non-painted including the ones in the pinside gallery.

Anything shown on flyers is suspect, there is several notorious examples of things shown in DE flyers that changed in production.
