In February 2020, after a rather long search, I finally tracked down and set a deal in place for a gorgeous original Nine Ball with a Bill Davies cleared PF. It was in Canada, but the seller graciously agreed to get it to Allentown. I was living in Jersey City at the time. Perfect, right?

Well, that obviously didn’t go as planned.

Fast forward 17 months later, I was finally able to cross the border yesterday to bring her home!

She plays as great as she looks and my Stern classics row is complete. Big cheers to Drano for holding on to it for this long and meeting up with me, and just being an all around awesome person.

I haven't posted in this forum in a long time. I brought this one home Saturday night after a long road trip, and coaxing the seller to sell it for a year. I’ve heard that most of these are made in China, and are usually bought for 4th of July and New Years...This one was made by Bally though....

Pictures of the pin in the vehicle selfie as required by this forum. Let the guessing game proceed. No guesses from @ballypin.

Skyrocket? Congratulations.

Three minutes in and you guessed correctly. I should have left the head artwork out of the picture. lol. It plays a game, but needs a good playfield cleaning, and good shop job. I'll restore it, with new backglass, cabinet repaint, playfield restore, etc. after I go through a couple of my other pins.

A friend of mine has a Sky Rocket. His flipper have been converted from AC volts to DC volts. All he did was solder in a couple of bridge rectifiers to make the change. So, for $10.00 and a little bit of solder you can change to DC flippers.

It is nice playing pin but I only know it with DC flippers.

#21258 2 years ago

Great score John! You gave me the lead 2.5 years ago on the one I bought.

John’s Skyrocket is serial number 1517 and includes test game report forms in the coin box. Bally typically started serial numbers with 1000 but with the Harry Williams designed games Firecracker and Skyrocket, the numbers started with 1500. Skyrocket had a run of 545.

I also just picked up a game from the96stang yesterday. He rocks - he can teardown, strap and load up a machine in minutes! Really nice guy.

I'm trying to convince my former French teacher wife that, when I get it, Moulin Rouge should go on the 1st floor. Not having much success yet.

Maybe buy a #Teachers Pet instead.

Quoted from bluespin:Maybe buy a #Teachers Pet instead.

While the blonde elementary school teacher in Teacher's Pet could elicit a crush from many of her very young students, my view of French teachers often included that naughty, self-assured aura associated with taking young adult students to Paris and spending an evening at Moulin Rouge. Perhaps my wife will eventually recognize the unique memory that game presents.

Looks great! Dream collection right there.

I've seen a lot of folks with home arcades who use those barstools and color-match the seat with the machine, as (I think) you've done. Where'd you find these stools?

Thanks! Grandinroad has them in lots of colors and materials. They are the right height and my toddler can climb up on them. But my cats destroy them so no more fancy stools.

Just brought him home from an estate sale right in my neighborhood. Everything seems to work, although I haven’t confirmed the scoring on the rototarget yet.

First pin that was playable when I got it home! It came with a bucket of tokens. Jackpot!!

Let's see the front of the cabinet. "Happy Clown" is the game where Gottlieb transitioned from the "beehive" shooter bezel to the steel rounded diamond shape that remained throughout the EM run and beyond.

The beehive is there. We’re missing the coin chutes. I don’t think that is the correct door, either. The flyer has silver legs and door. The beehive is on the flyer.

Did they make a white painted door? If so, the legs and bolts were color matched with latex paint.

Some of the Gottlieb woodrails had cream color painted doors and legs. Not correct on Happy clown. Looks ok though. Better than rust or pitted.
