Yeah! Wait, how the hell do you know about it? Aren't you in LA?

WOW! you lucky S.O.B.....what a great score you got there!
Congratulations!!

I have a top secret pinball radar...just kidding I looked it up on craigslist nationwide.

When I saw your Fire popped up on Craigslist, I'm like...Oh shit, I'm on the wrong coast!
It was an hour old. Couple of hours later, another one popped up.... only 60 miles away, I grabbed it. Yippee!!

Quoted from cosmokramer:

Was this the one that popped up on Craigslist a day or two ago.

Yep, yesterday.

Nice score...I saw it a few minutes after it popped up but was not able to make a stab at it
..glad to see a pinsider got it...

I scored a 100% pristine LOTR in Chicago today. The gentleman I bought it from bought it from his friend who bought it new in 2004 and still had the receipt. The game is absolutely perfect in every way. I bought one of these new in 2004 and sold it in 2009 and regretted it ever since. It was my second pin. I plan on installing color DMD, shaker, Palantir mod, Balrog whip, color changing shooter rod, new speakers and powered subwoofer, lighted speaker covers, and LEDs for the flashers and Balrofg toy only. I am an LED guy, but this game needs the dark warm glow of IC lamps in my opinion.

Nice LOTR. But I am truly jealous of your setup for getting pins in your basement!

#2006 8 years ago

I had some requests about my Basement entry. Basically, when I sold my original LOTR back in 2009 I was very put off by going up and down stairs - especially since mine had a landing and turn at the bottom.

I called an Amish friend of mine and told him to bring a mini backhoe and a concrete saw. We simply dug down about 9 ft to the footer of the basement and cleared a 10x10 area against the wall. We then cut out and 8' wide hole in the basement wall and poured walls 8'x8'x8'.

I installed a standard overhead door in the basement and outside "cellar doors" to keep the landing area dry when not in use. Before the backhoe left the property I dropped a hand operated "pallet jack" into the basement to lift games/furniture in and out. It works great. You can buy them at http://vestilmfg.com/addguest.htm

It has been a a nice modification to the home. I have brought down / lifted out refrigerators, couches, Steel Talons (1000 lbs), TZ, X-MEN, TSPP, LOTR, RFM, Pool Table, Air Hockey, Super Chexx, etc. It sure saves the back.

Very observant. I have moved plenty of pins, always use my wife's Durango, which was in the shop. That is my X5. I measured before I left home and thought it would fit, but when we started sliding it in I was sweating because it definitely looked iffy. Made it though, with < 0.5" to spare. Really was a lucky day.

Some recon and socializing paid off today. Picked up this very nice BSD from a home where it's been for the last 15 years. Playfield needs some work but should clean up nice. The real kicker is the PERFECT cabinet decals! Inside and under playfield is also very clean!

Nice... you could eat off that cabinet interior. You can always tell a lot about a games history from the cabinet interior.

Never thought I'd get rid of the original pair, but then I got the "need different machines" bug, so I had my son bless the sale of my HRC and my DE Simpsons. Picked up a WCS last week for the son and a BF for me over the weekend. Much happier with this pair so far as they complement each other better I feel. Also finally figured out how to move a pin (BF no less) into my basement by myself. Not the best idea, but with the right equipment it wasn't horrible and got BF inside before the snow came into the area.

Good to see Stars getting some love at TPF!

I guess I kinda felt it over here on the west coast because for some reason or another I really wanted to detail my Stars.
Well,
Three coats of wax and two elbows later...

Congrats Chosen_S!
Enjoy yet another SK masterpiece!

I don't think Stars will fit between Galaxy and Meteor.

That backglass looks great. The planets disappeared on mine.

That playfield looks awesome Nimble. I can see the reflection of the bg. I have a real itch to completely restore mine.

#2029 8 years ago

Yeah, my cab isn't in the best shape but I too feel like I should go the extra mile and rebuild it to it's 79' glory. Gameplay is just so addictively brutal that guests just can't stop playing when they come over. The max 40 credits have to be replenished hourly it seems when two or more people decide to press the start button.

Bought at the TPF swap meet:

Stern Hot Hand (I have a very nice playfield at home)
2 Stern Lectronamos with good glass
Gamatron NOS playfield (will go in one of the Lectronamo cabs)

Well, it is sandwiched between two other wide bodies but I finally got my FUULL THROTTLE! Yay. Very happy with it so far it is # 49 off the plants floor and Andrew and team really communicated well through whole process. Great job Heighway!

#2046 8 years ago
Quoted from bridgeman:

Beautiful machine. How does she play??

Very fun to play! The open lower playfield has 4 popup bash toys like in MM. A long way to the ramps at the top, but the flippers are plenty strong enough. It has 11 drop targets that fire in a variety of patterns including sequentially for a real challenge. Visually gorgeous with great sound and callouts. The main LCD is even higher resolution than the one in WOZ. The small LCD in the book is used very cleverly and guides the player on what to shoot for next. The code is early, but with Keith Johnson you know it will be as deep as WOZ or deeper. I'm very impressed.

Out of interest, where did the TOM come from? Dealer? trade? a mate?

It looks like it has German coin slots.Nothing wrong with that.My TaF and TZ (no fade) are from Germany 10 years ago.

Nice score.

Those are some great finds doothedoo. Hard to believe you picked those up all together. The classic sterns are very cool. Amazing that the backglass see were so nice. They must have had a bit easier life then most I've seen. I'm sure you will enjoy them. I have a Lectronamo that I will restore soon. It's a cool game.
