Pinball Fate works in Mysterious Ways.

So I sold one of my old farm tractors yesterday.

I have some cash in my pocket and I'm wondering what I will do with it.

I check Pinside and I have a PM with the topic "Interested in an Eight Ball Deluxe Project?" (or something to that effect).

Well, I'm sure you know what happens next. . . pictures tell the story.

KIMG0974 (resized).JPGKIMG0974 (resized).JPG KIMG0977 (resized).JPGKIMG0977 (resized).JPG

Rough cabinet, but a decent playfield. It even came with an extra in case I want to give it the hardtop treatment.

KIMG0979 (resized).JPGKIMG0979 (resized).JPG

Promptly placed it in Project Row. . . but I doubt it will stay there for long as it is too addictive to play.

A big Thank You to the local Pinsider that made my day!

Cool, that’s the one I owned. I had a lot of plays on that game. (I can tell by the cabinet touch ups and playfield markings.)

Well, it has been far too long since I had anything to post here, but thanks to Pinsider @troy, we brought home a 2-fer today, Meteor and a Space Station to go with our Space Shuttle. Just a short hour or so drive and a very nice time playing his beautiful collection. Thanks!

I was asked to fix this Royal flush.
Funny thing is i fixed it couple of years ago when it was in a bar in Reykjavik and got an old grand prix which needed an overhaul ( still need to start that project, another threat on pinside , i guess). But the owner of this RF cabinet wasnt too keen on spending some cash on the cabinet, so he never answered my questions to buy parts so i ended up just asking the man if he liked to sell the cabinet. 20210425_163441 (resized).jpg20210425_163441 (resized).jpg

Xenon finally came home. I picked it up a few weeks ago and took it straight to my repair guy to help me with the power supply and sound board.

Just brought home a Bally’s grand slam! It came with some cool trading cards too! I kind of want to open them but I know I shouldn’t

Quoted from sunnRAT:

Wow! That is cool! Dont open!

I won’t

I did find this on Ipdb

Bally made a set of six baseball cards for Grand Slam (not shown here) as a promotional item and the set we saw pictured only the 4-player backglass. Reportedly, these cards were given away at the Bally booth at a 1983 spring coin-op games trade show. If we can identify which trade show this was, and the days it occurred, this might contribute to our understanding of the evolution of this game.

Hahaha!
Its early, and my eyes aren't quite ready to work yet.

I looked quickly and saw "Loggins!" And a guy on stage...

Thought, oh wow, a rethemed pin for Kenny Logging, that's the first I've seen that!

#20074 2 years ago
Quoted from grantopia:

I agree. I don't believe the value would be hurt by opening them and properly displaying them. Maybe put them in a picture frame next to the pin?

#20075 2 years ago

Or you can join the topper craze and sell them, unopened, for $4000 and call it a topper?

thanks, it is in pretty good shape and actually a lot of fun. Maybe it’s because I’m a huge baseball fan but I enjoy how it tracks score, runs to beat and the runners around the bases. That video Todd tuckey did on rules was really good to watch. I usually am not a fan of older pins. Sorcerer is cool that we own but it’s only staying in the collection because of the art. This one very well could be a keeper

I’m lucky to live just an hour’s drive from a great distributor, Classic Gamerooms in Covington. I ducked out of work on Tuesday and brought home this Pro. It just gets better every time I play it.

It is beyond trash. It is the worst modern era playfield I have ever seen. Top wood layer is separating in various spot, worn to the the wood in so man places, inserts are worn in spots and you can feel every edge.

Mandatory playfield swap. On a plus the mechs are all good!

Just need to decide pro or vault art work...

Might be bad in person, but I wouldn't say "trashed" and "worn to the wood".

This DEB playfield, on the other hand, is trashed and worn to the wood (old Pinside ad). Yours looks much better than this.

I heard the buyer didn't recognize the PF, but backed out because the sling plastics were chipped.

how does a pf even get that to point just from playing ? I would think you’d see the warning signs prior to that point. Maybe they polished weekly with rock salt and novus 20.

Poor clearcoat and never changing the balls out is the most likely culprit.

I’ve also seen severe damage like that from super aggressive solvents like goof off.

#20092 2 years ago

I'm picking up a super annoying doink-fest game on Sunday. Unless it somehow rreeeealllyyyy surprises me (doubt it) it's gonna be a clean up/shop/LED/laugh at for a bit/trade up to something better. But I said I'd get it the hell out of his house, so...
