I thought that was cool, too.

It reminds me of the time I discovered the bread trick when soldering copper piping

Who knew bread had so many uses!

I can’t take credit for the idea - I learned of it on Rec.games.pinball back in the day.

I'll bite.

I'm never too old to learn.

How is bread employed in the arena of soldering pipe?

When you cut into existing pipes you always encounter residual water in the lines regardless which makes soldering next to impossible because it tends to dampen heat down. You can avoid this (not always a problem) by putting pushing bread into the line, no crust and just enough to block access, it will soak up and hold back any moisture long enough for you to solder. When done you can go to the nearest faucet and turn it on (be sure to remove screen if it has one before you turn water on) the bread will break up moving through the pipe and flush out the faucet.

Nice to know. I had to get the crankshaft pulley off of the engine in my car several years back. The challenge is how do you prevent the engine from turning over/rotating on you as you apply torque to the crankshaft pulley bolt.

The solution: Shove a wad of 1/4" rope down a spark plug hole. push in as much as you can. And then as you get your wrench on the pulley bolt and turn, the rope will not compress and will lock up the engine. When you have the pulley bolt removed, back the engine off a little bit and pull the rope out.

Anyone know the going rate of a WMS Fairway? I don't *think* I overpaid but I really liked the playfield when I saw it.

Has a few coils dangling and the backglass has a scrape on it otherwise in great shape with good colors.

Brought my first Stern of any era home last night. Apparently it was owned by a prop house for tv/movies, then ended up in an old lady's house. Anyway it's near mint, the last owner replaced all boards, installed led pinscores, and all led lights. All the things I usually do with my solid states. So there's nothing to do but play it.

It's one of the great early solid state pins, simple, fast and fun. Great spinner, mid field slings on the sides, no slings at the flippers, witch is refreshing. It's funny though I got it next to Spectrum and my friends Haunted House, not one of them with traditional slings.

Thanks to my friend Jay for offering the game to me .

Though at the rate my projects are piling up for this winter I think I’m a year out on Fairway.

Here’s a before (at sellers) and after (my garage). It works. It needs bulbs but you can start and finish a game. Typical barn find. Surrounded by animal poo fortunately none on or in game....nor occupied for that matter.

It's interesting hearing the back story on barn finds sometimes. How did you find it? CL, FB? Friend of a friend?

You're close! My friend who repairs and (sometimes) sells pinballs for a living has a neighbor who knows of his business. This machine belonged to either friend or relative (I can't recall which) of said neighbor. Since he had some business with them with their Solid State machine and he doesn't fix EM games, this was passed along to me.

Have had this one on the list for a long time. I doubt it was routed for very long, the left shooter lane is spotless, the right one was taken before any clean up. Need to LED it but it's playing great.
