The woman I bought this from, said her husband was an engineer. They used to go to a pizza shop near their home. Every time they went he would give his wife a stack of quarters to play “Gorgar” the first talking pinball. He surprised her a few months later, he bought her a new “Gorgar” for her birthday or anniversary , i cant remember which. Hubby passed and wife move away to Dallas. Original owners...It can’t have over a few 100 plays on it....

Here's a few pics of the Vegas I brought home yesterday. Wow is it PINK. Just gave the outside a wipe down. I'll strip it and add new rubbers and lights later today. I like on this era of Gottlieb that everything is different looking. The tiny lockdown bar, the speakers above the translite, the weird high score buttons. Even the instructions and price cards are different sized. Looking forward to flipping a few games later.

I actually think those sorts of things are really cool. I’ve debated collecting stuff like that and starting a curio cabinet full off that sort of thing.

On a side note, at our local show ZapCon there is morally a section of these sort of games. Home use Pinball toys etc. It actually gets a lot of attention with the really young kids and moms with strollers occupying their little ones while dad runs off to pkay Pinball.

Recently got a corvette. The person I got it from owned it most of its life and said it was never on location. I believe he owned it a while but not sure about the huo. It is pretty nice though and super fun to play. I’m glad it’s part of the collection.

Acquired a Whirlwind today that looks like it went through a real whirlwind! It was left under a tarp outside for several years, then stored in a small garage.

I don't know what was more amazing; seeing the boards are mostly intact with no corrosion damage, or that I was able to avoid a bidding war and get a great price!

Oof. Outside under a tarp for several years? That gives me the heebie jeebies. Who would do that to such a fantastic machine? Glad you rescued it. I hope you can restore that poor game!

The person I bought it from was a nice guy, and he apparently got it from a boy's prep school or something back in the late 90's/early 2000's and had it since then. I've made a restoration topic on the machine and will be inspecting it more closely to really assess all the damage and problems. This may be a machine that needs not only a new cabinet decal, but possibly a CPR playfield or NOS playfield.

Here's the thread if you're interested in following it. I am a newb at restoration/repair so it will be a learning curve and likely a long process! https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/a-whirlwind-that-looks-like-it-went-through-a-whirlwind#post-5768502
