Here's more on the Evel Knievel I picked up yesterday. The playfield is good, will only need a few minor touchups. The backglass is perfect. The cabinet is kinda ugly, flaking paint on the front and one side, but I really don't want to paint it. Just gonna play it.
Before I went to look at it the seller (the son was selling for his father) said it didn't work. No lights or anything. No corrosion on any of the boards, but it had been sitting for many years and I didn't want to power it on without doing some basic work (caps on the SDB, etc.). So I disconnected the headbox, removed the legs, and stood the cabinet on end. Getting ready to load into my vehicle the seller (owner's son) says "Hey, what's this?" pointing the switch on the bottom of the cabinet. I say "that's the on-off switch". You should have seen the look on his face. He says "why didn't dad tell me about that? Maybe it worked after all."
Already started stripping it apart for cleaning. Put the MPU on the bench and powered it up. Gets 7 flashes! Made my day.
