The date of 1963 for a push button phone has to be way off ?

Ha, I work in the business, these old things are all over our offices as old test phones, this is current (unused but still bolted on the wall today) lol

Haha. My pleasure. Always good to meet another Pinsider in person. Well....most of the time.

Today it was. Enjoy the game.

I'm not exactly sure on the year of this one, but picked the booth up maybe 15 years ago for
$250.00, and shortly after was super lucky that a payphone from the same era fell in my lap for $100.00
Sent the phone to "Phoneco", and for $160.00, they sand blasted, primed, painted, set it up with
vintage instruction card, and converted it to work off the land line. It doesn't need coins to operate,
but if one is put in, the bell(s) ring. Have it set up down at the pond (park).

Got the phone out of a house near Miami University about 15yrs. ago and bought the parking meter from a guy who collects them, both work. Have the parking meter on top of the toilet.

Ok - what I should have said is Push Button - PAY -phones . I know there were none around in 1963 , more like 1970 . Maybe I should be in the -You know your old when - thread !

May I ask what it is about vintage phone booths that appeals to you? I'm not knocking it. I'm just curious.

What happened to this thread. I read 19 new posts and they’re all about pay phones. I must have dialed the wrong number.

Actually, back in 1990 when I bought the property, it was a cornfield with a swampy
amazon looking water hole down below out back surrounded with all scrub prickery brush.
Without boots, you couldn't walk down through the weeds without getting your feet wet (artesian springs).
Converting it to a vintage park has pretty much been my Summer hobby. After much work with a Friend's
crawler, the first thing I built was the pavilion, and while running the underground in cased electric, I
figured someday I may want to put a phone in it (never realizing I'd later get a phone booth), so I ran
a pair of 18 gauge wire in the incasement along with the 12 gauge. Years later after buying the phone
booth, I put that 18 gauge to use. The phone booth fits well with the rest..
There's more, but these pics give a pretty good idea. I have before pics (when literally a swamp), but on slides.
I had to throw in a pic of the 20' umbrella I acquired last year, which is somewhat a story of its own..

My Graphic Designer's been pretty busy. It took a couple years for him to complete the digitizing.
I had two made so it would be a little more worth it for him, although knowing there'd be a pretty
good chance I'd just be hanging onto it, but if anyone could use it, it's $200.00 (my price), and
around $25.00 for shipping (USPS). I had it put on 3/16" plexi.
I'll have the Fun House up and running someday..

I made lot of phone calls through the years in a booth like that. I was born in 1952; We grew up together. I never thought I would see them become collectors items.

Well, it was actually sell a Stern Tron and add 3k....

I couldn’t resist! Got it in last Tuesday.
Ever since I played Breakshot back in November I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it!!

Absolutely stunning game. Great addition to the lineup!

Lol. Yes this will be the 2nd baby Pac I have brought back from an untimly demise in someones basement. I rescued a Williams Tri Zone too. Going to get it Friday. There is also a Belly Yacht Club chilling that looks to be complete and not all messed up.

Congrats on your Breakshot! Very cool pool game and I’ve always liked the colors and layout. It’s a fun game and not super common. Hard to find a nice one!

Brought this home last night.
The wife has been wanting one of these since they first came out.
Wound up trading straight across for 5 arcade games.
The wife is stoked and so am I since I didn’t come out of pocket any cash and was able to free up some space.
It’s only got about 500 play on it, so still looks pretty good and no play field chipping or pooling.
Need to move some stuff around this weekend to find it a proper spot.

Warlords is a very special game for me that has a lot of sentimental value.

We played a lot of Atari 2600 as a family when I was a kid. Generally my parents limited how much we could play and it was a kind of a special thing we did as a family often after watching the Muppet Show or the Sonny and Cher show.

We did not have a lot of games for the 2600, but Warlords was the one of the ones we played the most as a family because you could play 4 players at once.
I have 4 siblings so allowing multiple people to play at once was important.
In fact on the rare occasion that my dad would take us to Toys-R-us to buy a new game, the first thing he would say when we were picking a game was “how many people can play it at once?”
We had mostly games you could play more than one played at a time.
Warlord was one of the few that could play 4 at once.

Nice! Now I am wondering what 5 arcade games got you that! LOL

1) Gauntlet II (very nice example, all new art and CPO)
2) Super Sprint (fully restored including powder coated coin door pedals etc)
3) Sea Wolf (modern sit down redemption game)
4) Centipede (all original, very minty survivor and an early serial number with purple on the side art and marquee. This was only done on the early run and after that they were done in yellow.)
5) Moon Patrol (I know, I know. This is one of my babies, but I’ll find another one and hopefully a nicer one. It was descent, but I always wanted a nicer cab).

Good story! There was an Atari 2600 at my Grandma's house (my uncles had one) so my Dad bought my brother and sister and I an Odyssey 2 by Magnavox. We had KC Munchkin and KC’s Crazy Chase, UFO, and Pick Axe Pete. Looking at the graphics now, it’s crazy how dazzling we found those games to be. Different times. They required some imagination. Good times.

Atari warlords was awesome back in the day. It was a close enough port from the arcade that we had allot of fun. I think most of the time we had two humans and 2 computer controlled playing. If I remember there was always one AI that wasnt as good as the others...

Loved Moon Patrol (great music) and Gauntlet 2 was always fun with multi players. We had a Gyruss growing up. I wish I had asked my dad if I could keep it. He sold it when I went to college for $200.

One of the things about games from that early era is that graphics were very limited. The designers had to focus more on game play to make the games fun to play. The box art on consul game and side art on early games like that were amazing and used as a tool to spark the imagination so that the player could envision themselves in that setting or invironment. I collect both Arcades and Pinball machines and my focus on Arcades is early black and white games. They are very simple, but tons of fun to play and many incorporate unique features that were borrowed from the EM game genera and some even from pinball machines. That said, they are still very basic and require and open mind and a bit of imagination in this era to get the full experience of what it was like to play them back when these things were state of the art and on the cutting edge graphically.

Love me some Gauntlet- dumped a ton of quarters in that game when I was in college...more fun with multiple players working as a team!

Thanks for sharing! I think you made out pretty darn well in my opinion. Yes it's hard to give up some of your babies, but like you said you can always find another!

I think warlords would make a great bar game. Its a quarter grabber that's highly addictive and would provide great returns for both businesses and operators.. Maybe someone could 2.0 it with speech and upgraded graphics. Maybe some Monty python or medieval madness type banter.
