Never heard of that gas station down here in the south, so it is not exactly everyone's favorite.

Congrats on the game.

Battery just starting to puke, been in a dry basement for 30 years. Had to drag it up a set of cellar stairs with a hand truck.

Hilarious.

After 100s of pinball machines, I post a picture of the Jeep that I am super stoked about instead of another mechanical basket case and my goofy ass face, and it gets a down vote. But I don't really care. And I peeled all that sticker shit off. Carry on.

It is a machine and you did bring it home! However home use only qualifies if it spent its life in only one town. ;p

Thanks. I was surprised it made it home. But I did buy it at a home, in my home town, where I still call home.

With a few adjustments, it runs great and we drove it all over town. And I'm still peeling that sticker shit off.

Dont take it personal lol. I drive a jeep myself (though I hate mine) If I cared to see car pics id be in a car thread is all. I'm just here for the pinball. No hate though. Glad you are happy with your new toy. I dont post my new lawn equipment or bikes here though. Sorry to have bummed you out though. Wasnt my intention.
Go pick up a new pin in your jeep

Edit: upvote for the peeling off the stickers lols

I'm paying for it this morning.

Frankly with the neighborhood it was adjacent too I just wanted to get out of there and the lady who owned it was... slightly off. Glad to have both my kidneys still and not wake in a bathtub full of ice this morning with them missing.

Here’s a few pics of the Orbitor 1 I picked up over the weekend up north.
Guy claims they have had it since 84. I don’t know, maybe. I suspect his timeline is off a bit though. Definitely a very clean machine. So far I’m having to fix one of the optos on the spinning target, a missing post, and a loose coil and a few other minor things. The battery leaked a little, but doesn’t seem to have caused any problems. Going to put new rubbers in this weekend.
Funny because I underbid one of these last month at auction that was in way worse shape and got this one for 1k less.

That looks very clean indeed. Much cleaner than the one I had.
How’s the out hole on it?

Quoted from Boof-Ed:

The hole if fine. Not broken, but there is a small (very small) hairline crack in it.
I wonder if a lot of these have broken/cracked holes from people using it to lift the play field. It’s kind of an odd design and could see it happening more that way, more so than game play.

Providing an update to my salvage yard find for next to nothing.....

It is actually starting to clean up ok (see below)

The good ->

The playfield is in what i would class as reasonable condition
GI fired up and nearly every globe works
The boards that are there look tidy as does all wiring throughout

The Bad ->

No MPU
Cabinet is in OK condition
Two score displays weren't functioning
It's going to take some hard work to get that rust off those legs unless I can find a replacement
The back of the headbox is starting to peel
Backglass may as well not be there (I've kept what I can)

I'm really in two minds what to do going forward here, at a minimum at the moment I would be up for

a) NOS Backglass
b) Alltek MPU
c) minimum two score displays
d) flipper needs work on the left

I'll admit I'm a beginner to this, I last did Fishtales and made a bit of profit from it however was experimenting as a first time around. If this was a different title then Lost World it would be an easy choice, part of me wants to take on the challenge and breathe new life into this game, part of me says I should just sell it as a project, cash in the difference and put it towards another pin.

My Plan currently > Borrow an Alltek MPU, see how the rest of the game functions and make a call from there, I'm toying with the idea of using this as half a learning experience, which means attempting a cabinet restore etc, I figure I'm in for practically nothing at the moment, If I screw it up I sell it onward as a project.

If I can't borrow an MPU then possibly buy one and look to sell as part of the project, I can't really test a whole lot more without it.

Love to hear your thoughts on my salvage yard score, Cheers

That's a terrific score...especially for free. I was in the same boat as you last year....just getting into the maintenance side of pins, no cabinet repair experience, never really tore a system completely down and reassembled, etc. I picked up a $100 weather-beaten project and turned it into a fairly decent looking player with very little monetary risk and a treasure trove of building experience and skills. If you want to see what's possible with a newbie restoration using pinside advice and support, check out my thread: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/my-first-restoration-1977-bally-black-jack-ss

For the rusted legs - while replacements are cheap ($60 or so new for a set of 4), you can really clean them up nicely by letting them soak in Evaporust for a few days if you have a container large enough to hold them. After the rust is cleared off, paint them.
