Nice MB! How'd ya find that?

LOL, Local Craigslist. I was out of town for the holidays and saw it come up. Never thought it would last long enough for me to get home. Four day later it was still there. Supposedly, it's a one owner machine - don't know about that - but who ever had must have had it in storage for the last 10 years with all this dust/dirt. I'm going to be cleaning this for the next 6 months.

No Doubt, but That's the way I like em, makes them cheaper to haul off

IJ4 was a close squeeze(Height) in the 2013 Equinox but it made it home.

I have an Equinox. It had done me well until I tried picking up a Stargate. Gottlieb System 3's will not fit in an Equinox. The body is much taller than Bally/Williams and Sterns.

I had the same issue with a Cue Ball Wizard and my Tucson but it did fit after I unscrewed the backbox and let it slide down the playfield part of the cabinet.

I either have to put the game on its side, unbolt the backbox and slide it down a bit, or just remove the backbox entirely. System 3 and 80B games are monsters.

Are they taller than a 6803? I was trying to figure out what the tallest game was folded up. I had to unbolt the backbox and slide it down on my Bally 6803 in a Durango but the Durango has a sloped hatch which makes the entrance smaller.

I'll try this the next time I pick one up. I ended up borrowing a friend's truck on both Stargate and HH.

No idea. Haven't owned a 6803 game yet.

From what I remember from the last time I moved a system 3 game, I think it was almost 34" high when folded. A WMS system 11 was 30". A system 80A with a thin backbox was something like 26 or 28" from what I recall. A system 80B may have been about 32"-33", but I can't quite remember since I haven't moved one in quite a while.

I actually got this about a week ago, but thought I would post it anyway.

I ran out of room in one of the bedrooms I stole for a game room while I finish the basement in my new house. Well, lets just say I ran out of room. My wife loved playing WoZ so much before I bought one that she told me to put it in the dining room for now. Best wife ever!

I was in an Uber a few days ago and brought up pinball. Turned out his buddy was looking to dump these two beautiful games to pay his house tax bill. I was thrilled to do my part.

TZ baby! Got it home and first thing I did was destroy the translite glass, I set it down and BOOM! The playfield is very nice. No sure if I'm gonna keep it. I'l probably sell Diner and SST If I do. DSCF1939.JPGDSCF1939.JPGDSCF1940.JPGDSCF1940.JPGDSCF1943.JPGDSCF1943.JPG

Lesson 1.....

NEVER set a glass down on a hard surface.

You'll be finding glass fragments a year from now.

Congrats on the TZ though.

Just fyi I've learned that I pay far more than games are valued here on Pinside, as my JD was $3850. But that includes many things like restoration, they go over the game completely to make sure everything works, fully cleaned, fully LED's, paint touch ups on the cabinet and play field, delivery and I get free in home warranty service in case issues come up. It also includes the eagle topper and an alternate translite which aren't shown in my pictures because those are still on the way. It also includes the dead world mod, but he included the alternate dead world disc and rom to revert it back to production mode with the virtual lock if I want to. Also he handles all the work for me, basically I request a table and he locates it, ships it to his shop from wherever it is in the country, gets it ready for me and then delivers it and warranties it. You can check my collection here on pinside, I listed what I've paid for every table and they were all acquired the same way from the same restorer here in Los Angeles.

Anyways I don't want to derail this great thread, but I mention the above only because I suspect people will freak out here at the prices I've paid for tables, but I just want my tables all clean, restored, warrantied and everything handled for me. I included a pic I had posted on the game room thread, shows the Judge Dredd table at the end. Some of the tables in my collection aren't shown as they are in a different room.

NIB (New In Box) Stern Metallica "Monster" Premium #255338 (Canadian Export).

This machine has been sitting in my garage since early November 2015 for several reasons, namely time for proper evaluation, and letting the clearcoat harden for several more weeks. This came out of a production run that was scheduled in January 2016, but several were produced a little earlier as per my pre-order. I finally had time to unbox it.

The game has now been properly "dialed in" but hardly finished. In essence, I am "bulletproofing" the machine. Some of the more notable features already installed are a ColorDMD, overhauled NEW high power amplified speaker system (internal), Invisiglass(TM), FULL playfield plastic and wear protector sets, side armor, custom pinball topper, and a SAM remote controller (everybody should have one of these in their Stern SAM machines anyway, they are SO damn useful). More to come. I may take some more photos at another time.

Yes, that is right, I RIPPED APART a brand new game, and partially gutted it, adding new components and added all sorts of additional wiring, and cleaned up what the factory did not do, but should have.

Stern quality control was OK, but...
Most people are generally in a massive rush to the open the box, set it up, and play the game. This is generally a BAD IDEA, as you to check EVERYTHING, cabinet, fuses, cables, electronics, switches, coils, etc. It took me roughly 6 hours for baseline. In my case for example TWO of the leg bolt plates were STRIPPING from the factory due to improper installation of the leg bolts at an angle. I was able to get this corrected by re-threading with tools, and ALWAYS use lithium grease. There are always all sorts of nuances that need to be worked out in a NIB game. NEVER use Stern factory pinballs, they are $#%, and normally scratched (at least mine did not have rust on them, as I have seen that before). I already have taken the game apart once, to install various additional components.

Cheers!

Learning to repair machines is as equally important as owning restored machines.
All pinball machines break down, regardless of status.
Anything can go wrong, at ANY time.
Paying $8k for a pinball machine that does not work is a 300 lb doorstop.
This way you do not get overly frustrated and dump your collection in two years like many.
Keep up the spirit and hard work!
What you pay for your machines is your business, and nobody else.
Even I sometimes buy new machines, although not often anymore.
