This guy followed me home last night. Not in the best cosmetic shape (the playfield has a lot of wear) it was working and needed to be rescued so I did just that. I’m probably not keeping it but at least I know it’ll go to a good family when it goes.

Picked up a pretty beat up Beat Time last week. Basement is full of 2 things, pinball and Beatles so it is a perfect fit!

Picked up this beauty from the Stern factory itself this week!

Don’t give two shakes what the haters say about this title...I think it rocks!

Buttery smooth ramp shots, fast (in your face gameplay) with short ball times that make it the perfect pin to play with friends. I have pins with deep rule sets for when it’s just me playing.

Game is a work of art and even my non-pinball playing wife commented on how gorgeous this machine is.

I played one at The Sanctum in CT, I thought it was a fine playing pin. I didn't get more than 2 or 3 games on it but came across as pleasant to play.

Pickup and a delivery this last week. Decolorbombed both, well, in the process for Banzai.

Dont they make decal for that center section? Not sure how well it works but it would definitely be cosmetic boost

nice find

Even with it's crazy wooden exterior (the story goes that it was modified to match the "bar" décor where it was when it was out on location) it's still a fun game. In order to accommodate the new wood exterior the coin door had to be moved to the back. I guess I'd rather have one that's been modified versus not having one at all.

Indeed I did...thankfully, it was of the pinball kind and not from the guy that I bought the game from

Good question...I haven't had a chance to look yet to see if such a thing exists. As I said, I'm probably not keeping this game anyway so it may be up to the next owner to decide if they want to put the decal on (if it exists). Thanks for the heads-up.

Because the 80's had some awesome pins that's why. I love the art, simpler rulesets, multiplier scoring, and the nerdy computer sounds, yeah....going down to play Circus.

Definitely something magical about firepower for me. The sounds, the layout , rules, all are so well done. I remember going to arcades and they would have 3+ firepower’s lined up and you still had to wait to play
Nice grab

Well, 1980 and 1981 were two amazing years for pinball. So many great games in those two years. Those two years would keep any pinball enthusiest hunting down great titles for years.

I’m channeling my inner Colsond3 and picked up another game today. I haven’t owned this one before. It’s missing the topper, which is a bummer. It seems the games I’m picking up lately are missing things that can’t be found. Colson, would your sources that you’re checking on for the door handle for TFTC have a topper for police force by chance? I know it’s a long shot but a guy can dream, right.

Police Force is a pretty cool game...has to be tuned tight. Topper for that’s a tall order, but I have seen a few here and there. I can look/ask around.

First guy on TFTC handle said he’ll go through his two storage units this weekend or next weekend and get back to me. Haven’t heard back from the other guy yet. I’ll keep in touch.

I really appreciate you shaking the tree looking for this stuff for me. I figure the topper for Police Force is a tall order. I'm wondering if you couldn't add a light bar or an individual light or two (think mayberry police car, single light) as a topper. I haven't set the game up yet to see how it would connect but I'm guessing taking a light from something like LW3 would work...or not

Here you go! I only took a picture of one of the sides as they’re the same. The back didn’t get the same treatment but you can see where they cut a new hole to access the coin box.

The added wood was actually pretty well done. I’m guessing if I removed it I’d see the original wood/paint underneath.

Someone took a long time to do that, thanks for sharing!

Quoted from gutz:

Agreed. The story I got from the former owner is that he didn't like the original paint scheme of the game and it was in a bar that had wood trim and he hired a carpenter to make the game match the rest of the decor/trim in the bar. To me, it looks like it was pretty well done. I believe most of the pieces are nailed on which is why I don't want to try and remove it. I'm afraid of the mess I'll have if I remove it and frankly, it's not that bad (to me anyway). It plays just fine and the only hassle is that when I need to retrieve the nickels to replenish the cups I have that hold the nickels, I have to pull it away from the wall. Luckily, I don't have to do that all that often so it's not that big of a deal to me.

At the end of the day, I'm happy with it just the way it is. Whoever owns it after me can remove the wood trim and restore it back to its original glory if they'd like...

#14033 4 years ago

It's your machine, but it would drive me crazy wondering what was under there--whether it was mint original paint or not. I couldn't resist looking.

#14034 4 years ago
Quoted from cjmiller:

whether it was mint original paint or not.

I think there is one piece that's off on the other side, near the top. What was visible from that piece didn't appear to be mint original paint. The other issue I'd have is that the original opening for the coin box was covered by the wood and a new one was added to the back. If I pull the wood off then I have to address that issue. At the end of the day, my curiosity to know what's under the wood isn't enough to make me want to take it off and deal with the potential issues...
