Quoted from jmountjoy111:

A couple of times I’ve driven over 5 hours and came back empty handed. It sucks

Twice I have driven over 5 hours and came back with a game that was misrepresented and should have passed on, but didn't. Never again...

Quoted from Pecos:

I've been trying to avoid buying Project Pin EMs. Now that I have a business, I have been focusing on solid state pins. I even posted these on the Project Pin thread, hoping that they would be gone before I could no longer resist the siren call of two inexpensive mid-60's EMs.
Surfers is a Ted Zale designed game with three 2" flippers and some fun art. It has zipper flippers, always a fun feature. The backglass 'Balloon Bonus' and the playfield 'Ring-A-Ding' Bonus are both carried over from ball to ball. It has both a left out-lane kicker and a right out-lane gate to put the pinball back in play. If you have ever played a Bally EM from this era, you know how quickly the outlanes can suck your ball to instant death! With the zipper flipper closed and both outlanes lit, the player is allowed to play on without having the feeling of impending doom.

8 Ball has a drop-down cabinet and great art. It was one of only a few Williams EMs that kept track of each of two players pool balls earned using separate stepper units for each player. Player 1 plays balls 1-7. Player 2 plays balls 9-15. The balls have to be earned, in order, then each player shoots for the 8 ball! It's a Norm Clark Middle-Pop pin, my third!
I guess it was just meant to be that these would end up at Pecos' Palatial Pinball Parlour.

Congratulations, Pecos! Surfers is among my favorite zipper flipper games. Gameplay is great and Kelley's artistic talent is on full display.

It took two years but I recently got my Surfers playing 100%. I was on on the fence and considered selling but it is my favorite now. The Ring Ding can rack up 500 points but is most times a sure drain. The joy of hearing the 3” bell ring five times and then flailing away trying to save a SDTM. Risk-reward.

Picked up my first NIB pin (Deadpool Pro) and spent the evening installing a Pinnovators sub card, coin door volume control, and homemade stadium lights.

Nice pick up today, old guy was going blind and couldn't play anymore. He has had it in his home for many years. Everything is in great shape and after a couple of tweaks had it playing 100%. Still has all paperwork and minty coin box. Does anyone know history on this game? Sure looks like grand prix stole this design.

Some stuff I picked up yesterday. The Fast ball cab is toast I think I may end up parting this out. Check out the custom bg on Samba it even has keys with the back door on the head so that was bonus. and 3 pf's. If anybody wants the Rock on/Dyno mite pf it's free for the taking otherwise it's going in the dumpster. Mike

Quoted from woody76:

Liberty Bell stole the design from Grand Prix! Grand Prix came first according to IPDB.

Williams was late to the Bicentennial Party. Just a guess, but they simplified the design with only two players instead of four and only one bonus/unit instead of two to get it to market at a lower price quickly without having to design a new game. Like I said, only my theory and would like to know more about the two pins.

Left early this morning to pick up two games. Came home empty

Remember, no deal is ALWAYS better than a bad deal. It took me a while to learn this lesson but as much as it stinks to spend time going to check a game and come home empty, you're better off in the end by passing.

Nice grab Ron...welcome to the club. Been playing the hell out of mine out in the garage (second one I’ve owned) after getting it running 100%. One score reel still a little sticky.

Definitely, it’s a cool game. Great art package...shouldn’t have sold my last one, but it went to a friend that I got into the hobby for his first game.

I picked up two more project ASM’s in May, gave one of them away on here. Restoring this one and doing it a little different than the last. Just got some of the powdered parts back.

super fun game

There are haters out there but I have found the ones that hate are because they dont have it/have never played it and want to talk themselves out of hunting for it. Pretty game, great feature with the spinning shooter mech, and actually a good shooting/difficult game to keep you coming back for more.

I didn't bring these home myself, they were delivered by the previous owner. And they aren't pinball machines either, they're arcade machines. So shoot me if you must.

However, I still want to share this. Because... it's not every day that you lay your hands on a 1947 Chicago Coin Basketball Champ ánd a 1947 Evans' Ten Strike.

What an amazing pair of EM marvels. I am -so- thrilled.

Class of '47 represent!

Wow those are beautiful machines. Do you know who restored them? I'd like to see both in action, any chance you can post up a video?

Thank you, they are indeed very pretty. Even more so in real life.

I will definitely make videos for both, but it might take a while before I do. When I make a pinball video (or arcade video, for that matter), I like to do it right. Subscribe to my Youtube channel and/or follow my thread on Pinside and you'll certainly be able to enjoy them there eventually.

Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCuaEkZ_Fe9-SZV5ZDjPUiew/videos
Pinside: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/ballen-van-staal-pinball-videos

For now, if you want to know more about the gameplay, I advise you to search Youtube for these titles. There are some videos on these machines already.

In the mean time, here's some pics to keep you hungry.
