Quoted from Ballypin:

...and game # 2 is Gotlieb 1967 Surf Side. I am not a Gotlieb guy but it has cool double flippers and roto target goodness. Played a really nice one today at the Roanoke Pinball Museum.

Hey Ballypin! That was one of my personal machines on the floor. It won a best original ribbon at TPF in 2015 I believe. People LOVE playing Surf Side in 2-player mode after I teach them the rules. It is so much more fun with another player... easily Gottlieb’s best multiplayer of the 60’s.

Did we meet while you were there? Pardon... these 80-hour weeks are hell on my memory!

EDIT: More pics now that she is home. Undocumented HUO purchase 38 years ago by the gentlemen I bought it from, played by 4 generations of their family. Backglass is perfect, some minor battery leakage, but fires right up with perfect original displays. Perfect pin for a restoration:

I had a lot of fun playing this one at TPF this year. I actually love the cheeseball art package on this one too. It’s in pretty good physical condition, but unfortunately had a little nicad leakage to sort out. For $175 though...

Good to hear! Looking at that upgrade as we speak. You happy with it? Mine just needs some decals.

Yes very happy with it and no more hard drive to worry with.

Nic, no, we did not get the chance to meet. I was told you were in NY when I stopped in last Saturday. I was on a whirlwind trip last Saturday and made a quick stop at the Black Dog Salvage shop then stopped by to see you. I was just going to look but when I saw Surf Side, I snuck a fast game. Surf Side is a cool looking game but I ended up passing it on to another Dayton, OH pinsider who is in the process of restoring it.

I will say that your Skyrocket is drop dead gorgeous and I really want to find one for myself. Yours looks amazing with the clear coated playfield and played fantastic. The LED’s in the Skyrocket make it really pop. I’m sure I’d be about 50th in line if you ever decided to sell it.

Picked up a nice HS with just a few minor issues. Looks like I'm going to have to find a 4th machine so I can play too!

I love seeing kids playing pinball. There's a whole generation that doesn't know what pinball really is all about. It's good to start 'em young. Well done!

#9568 5 years ago
Quoted from MT45:

Started hunting this title about 2 weeks ago after deciding I didn't have room for a full size or puck bowler.
My wife loves to bowl, but we never seem to find the time. She's also not the best Pinball player and gets frustrated pretty quickly with regular PB games so ...
I thought I'd try to find a Gottlieb Strikes 'N Spares to see what she how she liked it ...
She loves it! Really, really enjoyed it
We played against each other this evening for a few quick games after setting it up and really had fun
Cool game and a sure winner in a larger collection - Adds nice variety
Paid up for the title for a few reasons :
- It was only 90 minutes away
- I was able to inspect and play before pay
- This example looks almost new
- Came with 14 extra, new balls
- Owners manual, spare price cards[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Make sure you put the 3/8" wide flipper rubber on.

I've owned a fair amount of pins in my 10+ years in the hobby. I'm still in the honeymoon phase with this game, but I think it may be one of the greatest pins ever made. Super stoked!

I got the pin and am headed home. 1200 miles to go!
Picking up this pin is somewhat bittersweet. I’m very lucky to have it. Anyone following the TBL saga knows how rare these are. Unfortunately, a lot of people have money on the table, but nothing to show for it.

Finally found a nice 1966 Bally Bazaar to match up with my avatar picture and wishlist. Bazaar was Ted Zale’s first zipper flipper game and I have been hot and cold on this title for over a year and passed on buying it twice. The stars aligned and I made a trade of project games with another local Pinsider to bring Bazaar home. Bow & Arrow and Amigo left and will now get their due attention to live again.

Think I will change my avatar to Bally Skyrocket in hopes that it will lead me to finding one. I don’t think Nic Shell NicoVolta will be parting with his anytime soon

very nice, guys.

saw the first pic in the CC post and was thinking, we should start a thread where you guess what game by seeing just the underside of the playfield. would be pretty damn tough.

Quoted from weaverj:

It would be cool but I don't think it would be tough for some people here. I am amazed at the knowledge around here sometimes. People identify machines from a tiny spot on the playfield or a description of a single shot.

Came home yesterday. Needed help down the stairs (because I love my wife and want to keep her), so it didn't get set up until today. Introduced a co-worker's teenage son to pinball. Win, win!
