Quoted from Stoomer:YAY! to the York unboxing idea!!!
That's my vote too! Congratulations, Dennis!
Quoted from DennisDodel:57 years in Nebraska and Minnesota weather. What condition will it be in? Most likely the backglass is shot. What else might have happened to the game during that time? Playfield splits? Rusty metal parts? Certainly gummed up, hard motor grease. Dried out leather clutches? What else? There does not appear to have been any water damage to the box. No rodent or insect damage present.
Hoping to end speculation over a few things that have come up over the years regarding new bingos.
Things that I have been told by old operators that have been disputed by some bingo enthusiasts over the years.
1. Bingo paperwork was not included with the games and had to be ordered through the distributor or directly from the factory. Most of us think the paperwork came with the game. I agree with this.
2. Reinforced bingo legs came from the factory that way. Some bingo guys dispute this. I'm 99% sure they came reinforced.
3. Bally shipped their bingos with 'Dead' rubber on the four red playfield posts. Some dispute this and think that dead rubber was added by "greedy" operators. I'm saying that this game will have factory dead rubber installed. (Probably ALL of the rubber is dead by now, but original Bally dead rubber is a grey color and should be easy to identify.)
Anyone have any other questions about this era of game?
I will probably take the game to the fall York show and open the box there. There is a bingo row set up there every year where Nick Baldridge brings his Multi-Bingo and others bring bingos to play. There is also a chance that I will open it at the next Houston show where Shawn Farwell is hoping to unveil his acrylic see-through Golden Gate bingo.
Thanks for playing along.
Not sure what we will find but it will be fun opening the box for all to see.
This is fantastic news! The NIB Silver Sails couldn't have went to a better guy or home. Well deserved for all you do for the hobby and collectors around the globe.
I can't wait to here about all the information Bally Bingo collectors will learn from this grand unveiling at which would be nice if it takes place in York PA on Bingo Row. Please make sure that there will be plenty of videos taking place at this spectacular unveiling event when ever or where ever it might occur.
Dennis can you tell us any other information about the game....?
A) How many owners through the years or if it was ever offered for sale in the past?
B) How well was it taken care for and in what kind storage was it in like garage, basement, warehouse, amusement company..etc?
C) How many hands did it pass since you got it?
D) Has there been any other NIB bingos in the past that have sold or kept in the box from 1950's or 1960's?
I heard of some 1970's Bally Tahiti bingos in the past up for sale and maybe a couple of other bingos, but not sure and can't think of the other NIB titles that perhaps might have also been offered for sale?
Anyway you look at this Silver Sails find it is incredible. I am hoping that the game is in remarkable condition for it being in a cardboard box for 57 years. This might depend on where and how the game was in storage for all them years. Well the good thing is....we will find out.
3. I'm thinking there won't be any "grey colored" dead rubbers on the four red post.
4. What serial number "Reflex Unit Gear" installed from factory?
5. What brand keys come with factory game and key numbers?
6. Type of balls? Brand name and or magnetic?
7. What a full complete instructions and score card package consist of?
8. Would there be any spare parts? Maybe extra reflex gears for operators to switch out for payouts?
9. Any types of factory oils for motors or lubes for stepping units?

Nice!! Where did that one popup?? Must have missed it, would have probably jumped on it myself for a project if I had seen it.....oh well!

A lot people hate on motordome, it was my first pin that actually worked. A super fun game, finally hitting the million shot feels awesome! The left shot up to the roll throughs is satisfying, very challenging extra ball IMO... anyways, congrats!
This is my favorite thread haha!
Quoted from DK:After 5 years of looking nationally for a project Stern Nine Ball and I found this one 5 mins from my job lol

Congrats on the pickup! Especially after having been searching for 5 years.

I always read poor reviews about motordome, but despite that I still really want to try one sometime. So reading your positivity about the game is awesome

people hate on the sound too. I loved it. I think it matches the machine perfectly. The bash target in the middle was fun and pretty random on ball returns. Hitting the spinner to open up the outlane drain guides..... neat game.
I met an awesome collector with 400+ pins. I asked him what game he would keep if he could only keep one. In a room with all the greatest pins everyone drools over, he pointed at a Motordome.
Quoted from Gornkleschnitzer:Last night, I had a dream that I was at a show and purchased an EATPM from ex-President Obama. Does that count for this thread?
(I do NOT understand where my dreams come from...)
Sounds like a nightmare to me.
I traded that motordome for his Atlantis(plus cash) and I already miss it.sure this Atlantis is fun and holy shit is it beautiful but I really like the game play of Motordome its simple but it has so many satisfying shots.
Quoted from Coindork:Picked up this little guy before work this morning.
Cant wait to go home and play it.
Very clean machine with supper nice cabinet and play field.
Big thanks to SS2049 for helping me lug this out of the guys basement.

T2 is one fun machine. Congrats
I picked this project T2 up the other day. It was an 8 hour round trip but we all went as a family and had a blast! The game suffered from alkaline corrosion on the CPU and was unplayable. Happy to report that it’s working 100% as of last night! Thanks Bay78 for your master soldering skills on those nasty chips! Now that it’s working, time to order parts and restore this bad boy!

That's a first. I've seen many clean machines purchased over the years, but never one which included dinner.

Yeah, that’s one if those words that I type wrong all the time. FWIW, it’s clean enough to eat off of

Not to worry. Even the words I type correctly, my computer keeps changing until I finally give up.

6 1/2 hour round trip. But worth it for the music alone.

Was that one of the NIB machines that was sold over the weekend?
Quoted from TractorDoc:I know it is not a Pinside favorite, but I hauled home a clean Waterworld. I am one of the five or so people that liked the movie.

I think that movie is awesome in a cheesy sort of way.
Quoted from djreddog:Was that one of the NIB machines that was sold over the weekend?
Nope. This was in his collection for ten years. It was posted almost two weeks ago on the market. With all the mods on the lighting on this it’s almost a different machine then when they first came out.
